Once I started a budget, I was shocked at how quickly I saved $1000 - about 2 weeks. I've been living paycheck to paycheck my entire adult life, and budgeting was shocking. Saving the starter emergency fund was an easy win that got me focused on moving forward instead of feeling bad about past spending.

I saved my $1k early in 2020 and haven't had to touch it as of yet. I'm now working on an LOC that was left neglected for way too long. $12K paid off in 18 months and $20k to go.

My kids are taking a personal finance class at school using the Dave Ramsey program and love it! They saw first hand how important an emergency fund is when we had our washer die in August and we had the money to replace it. We built our emergency fund back up only to have car repairs this month. Again using our emergency fund and not credit 🙌🏼

It isn’t what you earn but how you spend it that fixes your class.

It's easier and faster than ever to buy used appliances in an emergencey. So DO NOT buy extended warranties on new appliences

I love the RC show and follow a lot of the advice given. These are great ideas on saving money. There is one idea that I do want to give people a warning about and it is delivering food with apps like Doordash. If you are a woman, it is no longer safe to do those kinds of apps alone at night. Please keep in mind that when you are delivering for Uber Eats, Doordash, and the like, your customer sees your profile picture and tracks where you are. You are going up to that person's home at night. They could easily a grab you and/ or rob you as you drop off the food. No, I am not over exaggerating on this and have heard horror stories from pizza delivery and food app drivers. I have also driven for Uber for three years to make extra money. Even now, I'm trying to find another way to make extra money as Uber has become more and more unsafe, and I only drive during the day. I would never recommend any woman delivering food or driving alone at night for safety purposes. Drive/ deliver during the day and/ or have someone go with you.

In spring of 2020 as a 22 year old woman, I did Door Dash, and I made a ton of easy money. But the areas that I got the most orders were inner city Detroit neighborhoods, and I did not feel safe. When I witnessed a crime scene for the first time, I knew I had to stop. Haven’t yet found anything nearly as useful for making quick cash in my area.

Be careful of turning off your heat in the winter. In an apartment and elsewhere it can mean frozen pipes. Coming back to water everywhere is a huge expense and there can be other issues.

Haha 😂 I actually did the opposite of one of these, I was a couple of months off tax time so asked my employer to take out extra tax to make sure I didn’t have a debt (really I just wanted the savings). It saved my fund as money was tight and I would not have had the discipline with it that way, this just made it so I absolutely couldn’t touch it.

I would not have spent the money to get a nee dish washer… we wash by hand right now. Maybe one day after BS 2 is done we will get it repaired but for now it’s not in the budget

The rich sees an economic crisis as a garage sale, also the rich stays rich by investing and diversifying their portfolio with stocks, Crypto currency and Forex trading which is the wisest thing every individual needs to do, and it's real profiting.

True but being in debt is worse. Cutting back n paying off debt is more important than a savings. Debt can make u homeless n get things repossessed. 🤷🏾‍♀️
