25 years Isle of Arran Distillers

Watch on to find out more about our amazing journey over the past 25 years - including more about our visionary founder Harold Currie who launched Isle of Arran Distillers during a tough time in the Scotch whisky industry when there was a small recession.
You’ll also learn that we’re very proud to be a small independent Scotch whisky company that’s full of passionate people. Being an independent company gives us the flexibility to make decisions of our own choosing and do what we think is right for the wider island community.
In addition to being independent, we’re also very traditional in what we do. All of our production and maturation is done on the island. Quality is also of the utmost importance to us. We have a fantastic wood policy whereby we use the best casks that we can and we only use casks twice to ensure that we maintain quality in the end product.
Isle of Arran Distillers is now the proud owner of two distilleries on the Isle of Arran - one in the north end and one in the south end. In 2019, our second distillery, Lagg Distillery, opened its doors and produced the very first spirit on site at 14:35 on the 19th of March.
Lagg Distillery makes a heavy, characterful, peated spirit which will mature into one of the finest whiskies in the world. Lagg Whisky will be a peated malt worth waiting for!

Great to see everything developing so well at both ends of the island! I can't wait until the first bottlings of Lagg heavily peated roll off the production line - but that will be a few years yet. In the meantime, visits to the island are definitely on the agenda - just gotta wait until a certain pandemic withers on the vine. Cheers!

Wonderful video that make me want to come back to Arran asap! As my name suggests, I am quite the fan girl already ;) Was lucky enough to taste some new make last year in Frankfurt and can‘t wait for the matured Lagg! A question: as you focus very much on things being done in Arran - some might use the term terroire ;) - are there any plans for your very own malting site? Hoping for more news and intel from Lochranza and Lagg! Cheers!
