Yeah, making it turn-based was definitely the right move, as I remember with Civ 1 and 2, back when I played, just one more turn... okay, just one more turn... just one more turn... all night. I don't know why I haven't been into it tho after Civ 2. Masters of Orion and Civ were among my favs back then.

Man I wish they had included total-war style controlled battles as an option (where auto-resolve exists as well). It could include all surrounding units as well; that'd be awesome!

I finally got Civ 6 but had been playing Civ 5 up til then. I've been a dedicated player since the first Civ. Just one more version.... Loved Civ 2 for wonder videos (I miss that! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnnIqpxpisenjpo especially Leonardo's Workshop ) Civ 3 - introduced hex map. Civ 4 - Culture. Civ 5... social policy tree. Civ 6 - tech boosts (esp with spys who can only steal tech boosts not entire tech), Civics and making Civics and Tech intertwine instead of completely separate like Civ 5's social policy. Districts - after a few games I love it, you have to mentally map ahead where to place cities and districts - something I've wanted for ages in specializing cities. New road system. AI and reasons for going to war. So many things I like in Civ 6...

Great interview. I was wondering why a separate battle screen hadn't been incorporated into the game. Now I know why. Not sure I agree with the decision not to proceed with it though. Still forever grateful for Sid's vision.

The right decision is making it turn base i remember when i was like 14 or 15 when civ 1 droped and i got it i remember a day where i started a game in a day were next day is school day and well all i. said to mom one more turn and mom slept i was a wake and well that day i didnt sleep the game ended 7:00 Am

Also - have to say, the more I see and hear about Civ VI, the more I want to play Civ V. I'll pick this one up when it's in a humble bundle with all the expansions or something. Far too much going on for another Civ game this soon...

What do you mean? Civilization V came out in 2010. That was 6 years ago. Civilization VI has arrived at the right time.
