Proud to have played all the main installments, when they came out. The only ones I missed were GTA Advanced and Chinatown Wars. We can say I grew with GTA. When Vice City came out I was an early teen, the perfect age to start discovering good music and GTA IV made me discover my all time favourite band (Tangerine Dream).

I've managed to play every GTA game in the series only many years after their initial releases, but I still played and beat all of them. It's generally easy to miss out on games like Advance and even Chinatown Wars, considering they were seen as mobile releases, but there's still a lot of people that never played games like LCS and VCS. Which is a shame, those are amazing games in their own rights.

Same, although for me I didnt get a ps2 until Christmas 2002 and it came with a copy of vice city. I played it in the living room with my parents for hours, they thought it was hilarious it had all their favorite music and you could buy a hammer and hit people with it lol.. they saw the fun of the game, not the violence, because realistically its not OTT at all

Is incredibile think that 97 was already 25 years ago, we have seen the videogames develop in a few years from rudimentary to what they are now, the speed of computer power development was Crazy and was awesome seeing games get better every year, i Hope Rockstar learned from the mistake of the defective edition and give us quality again in the future since we Need quality like never before

the evolution from GTA II to GTA III will always be the biggest jump I've ever seen between two games GTA III without any pre conceived expectations was insanely mind blowing on its own but compared to the last game it was just unbelievable

My first experience with the GTA franchise was playing GTA 1 on the original Playstation back in 1999 with some high school friends. I remember we would crash at each other's house and stay up late playing it. We never attempted to actually play through the game's missions properly. We would just pass the controller back and forth, going on our own rampages within the game. It was a lot of fun. I didn't play GTA 2 when that came out, but I was super hyped for GTA III when that was in production. I remember reading articles in game magazines about GTA III months before it released: looking at screenshots of the game and reading about the gameplay, and feeling like "WOW!" Before the game even released, pretty much everyone knew it was going to be something really special. Me and most of my friends bought GTA III the day it released and, just like the rest of the world, we were all blown away and became addicted.

Happy 25th anniversary to one of the most interesting video game series. I'm glad I got into the series 10 years ago, back before GTA 5 was released on PC. The first GTA game that I played was vice city, since at the time I knew nothing about the series. Now I've played through GTA Vice City, San andreas, 4 (including the single player DLC), and 5. Still though I'm excited to see what's time come of the new instalment when it releases.

I began playing the PC version of Vice City around the end of 2004, in a cybercafe. I still remember how I initially was hesitant to trying it because the icon looked so "girly" to my 10 year old self. Then I played San Andreas in a PS2 and had fun stealing the train and trying to get past the barriers to roam around in the locked areas. Lots of water have passed under the bridge since then. This year I proposed myself to complete the 100% of all 3D era GTAs, and I made it... and now I'm doing it again in GTA 3. It's an addictive thing, I love the sense of freedom and control the games give to the player. Especially if you don't have a lot of control over how things go over your life... but that's not relevant here.

My first videogame ever was GTA III. I was like 3-4 years old when I first played, and most probably didnt understand a single thing about it. As I grew older (by older I mean 7-8) GTA SA became "the" game for me. I was just riding in cars around LS, the whole storymode, crimes thing wasnt known to me back then. When I first completed SA a couple of years later, it was monumental. When my brother got a PSP, I sunk tens, maybe hundreds of hours into the two Stories games. When GTA IV came out I couldn't believe my eyes what gorgeous it was. GTA V's hype was just something else. I still play this franchise almost daily. As a grown up, I have much less time now, but I still find a spare hours to jump into one of the many great worlds. I grew up playing GTA, know all the maps by memory, all the story missions from III - V, loads of fun facts etc. This franchise is very close to my heart and I am worried a lot that GTA VI wont live up to the hype/standards.

To put this into perspective for my own self, I turned 20 years old back in September. Grand Theft Auto is only a mere 5 years older than me, and even though I as well as the franchise feels like it's been around for a lot longer, 25 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things to the Gaming Industry. Some franchises have been around for double that time (if we're gonna count the prototype consoles from the 70's as gaming consoles) and have had less games than GTA. I'm honestly excited to see what direction this franchise takes, it still has so many more years before it can truly reach its full potential. Even though people complain that the next GTA game is gonna be woke, and rightfully so considering how the AAA industry is, I'm still gonna buy it to give Rockstar one more chance to truly impress me with a video game.

My first GTA was GTA 3 when I first got my PS2 back in the early 2000s. It was so much fun at the time and since then I became a fan of the series. I played and beaten GTA 2, 3 Vice city, SA, LCS, VCS, and a little bit of Advance on a GBA emulator. Since GTA 4 episodes, I couldn’t get myself into it anymore because I just didn’t find them as fun as the 3D era GTAs. I made it far in all 3 GTA 4s but just couldn’t play it long like I used to. Even today I still have GTA 3 and SA on my laptop

I still have my ps1 copy of gta and gta 2, I remember the loading screen having that 3d depiction of a street with a couple of cars on it, and distinctly remember me and my neighbour saying "imagine if we got a game that looked like that instead of looking down the top at everything" Current generation just will never be able to fathom the impact and importance gta iii and gta vc had on the open world industry at that time. Sure Driver soon existed and driver 2 but that just wasn't what gta iii was about to bring to the table

Nice! I started with GTA 2, and even back then as a kid I could see how DMA/Rockstar was using "controversy" for publicity, to boost the popularity of the games. They did the same thing with GTA III, and kept doing it all the way up to GTA V with that pointless torture scene that was CLEARLY, CLEARLY added for yet another batch of free "controversy" publicity. Well, it works, apparently, so... Happy birthday, GTA. Hope GTA 6 won't start the downfall of this series.

The first pc game i play was Vice City back then when i was just a little child, i dint even know the game have a story mode or another island besides the first one or anything more than drive and walk arround the city but just that was enough for made me fall in love with the game and how reminds me to the place i live in the tropical ambient, now i already beat the game like 30 times and love play it every year looking for a 100% save file and have became my favorite game of all time just for all the memories.

I consider myself a big enough Rockstar nut. my history started with my Cousin playing Vice City and letting me play a bit, needless to say my grandma wasn't too happy about that. it wasn't til I got my hands on Bully (saw it on a gaming website when looking up cheats) and hearing Tears by Health in a Max Payne 3 TV Spot that I took the plunge. I've played most of Rockstar's titles apart from GTA London, GTA2, ONI, Smuggler's Run. but my favorite GTA? not original but San Andreas. it just feels like the Game Rockstar has been trying to outdo for a bit. yeah 4 & 5 are smoother & deeper but San Andreas just hits that comfy spot for me like RDR2 & Bully

First GTA that i played was GTA SA, there were a lot of mods i wanna use like licensed cars, buildings, and some silly superpower CLEO mods. SA was the first time i learned about different file types like DAT, CS, ASI, CFG. I'm not really a modder like ChongMcBong or Silent but sometimes i dug many DAT to learn how things worked and played around with it like combining Glendale colors with Bloodring Banger, 'fixing' the mismatched color on Clover and Tampa. Also thanks to the game files i learned that there's 2 types of Boxville, 2 Sadler, 2 Glendale, 2 Rancher, 3 Hotring Racer, 3 Monster, and 2 Bloodring Banger After SA, I tried GTA3 on PC and it was interesting experiencing their first 3D (and love listening to MSX FM while doing Taxi missions), from then i jumped to GTA VC and love to just listening to 80s era radios and overall vibes of VC. From 3D era i jumped to GTA IV and experiencing Niko plays bowling and met Tom Goldberg and that famous 'guns dont kill people, video games do' reference. The last GTA i played was LCS on Android and i noticed that you could run while carrying AK or any heavy weapons, that was really helpful since we cant do that in previous games. Recently i've been downloading songs from numerous GTA radios on my phone so i can listen to it on the go

GTA III I was a small kid playing it at one adult family friend's PS2. I could freely roam a city. Go anywhere I wanted, by myself, no guidance by my parents. Liberty City game me a feeling of liberty. No racing tracks, no predefined areas, just a whole city and no obstacles but the law. (I wasn't a skilled driver back then)

Well, technically GTA III was the first one for me in a computer club back in 2003, but it was literally my first experrience with a PC, so it kinda doesn't count. I played GTA 1 and the London expansion last year on PC just to see how it is, and honestly after a few trial and error moments, it does seem fun. I did have to plan out a sequence of certain missions to do in order to get the required limit without throwing my controller.. My first actual experience with GTA (as in playing and finishing the story) was actually Vice City Stories. Some dude sold his PSP and the copy to my dad and then he gave it to me, I liked it since it was considered a "replacement" for the original Vice City (couldn't play it as a younger child 🙃).

The first time I tried GTA was the third game around the time it came out. I didn't own it so I didn't play it for very long but the dark atmosphere of the game really stood out to me as a kid, it actually looked intimidating just driving around. The game I first got to dive into was Vice City and that game's vibe was obviously a lot different but used just as well to bring you into the world.

I used to play either the original GTA all the time with my older brother on the PC back in the day. I tried coming back to it time and time again in more recent years, but honestly I just can't get into it nowadays. The game received generally poor reviews at the time of release, so obviously it's significantly worse 25 years later. Don't get me wrong, I have great memories of playing this game and it spawned literally my all time favorite franchise, but man it's a tough one to come back to. One day.... one day I'll complete it and actually see all three cities.

I played every GTA game with the exception of London, I think I haven't played that one. I played a bit of I and II, do those games have progression? Like can you complete them? I completed III, VC, SA, VCS, LCS, Advance, IV, TBOGT, CW and V. Funny enough I still haven't played them when they were new. I was born in 98 and my parents bought a PC in...2003-4. I guess I played as soon as we got it. GTA 3 was already 2 years old and VC was pretty new. But I think it took me some years to play GTA. I used to play VC when I went to a cyber with my brother. I played SA for the first time in 2009. I played IV for the first time in...2011, 12? Probably. I think I played V short time after it was launched on PC. I loved this franchise since I was a kid and I still do, it gave me many cool memories. I just hope now that R* enter in a kind of "new era", they don't ruin the game.

GTA 2 was the first GTA game I played and I still love playing it. My favourite GTA game is Vice City. A very very close 2nd would be GTA 3 and I also liked San Andreas. I tried playing the HD era GTA titles like GTA 4 and GTA V but I'm not really feeling it. I might give it a go again in the future if I get bored.

It's a shame the past third of this 25 years of gta has been dominated by updates to an outdated online component, while largely letting down the community with nothing but lackluster remasters and a lack of communication about what's coming next.

i found playing gta 1 with the infinite lives cheat make it a bit less rough to play, a source port with quality of life like better camera control, smoother controls and a way to look a the game map ingame would make this old ass game even better.
