For 25 years, the Hirshberg Foundation has been dedicated to raising awareness through our signature fitness events.
A key pillar of our mission statement is:
To integrate and unite generations, young and old, through physical fitness participation, while creating public awareness and raising money to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
To that end, our fundraising events have always centered around fitness activities for the whole family. Jon Hirshberg was the visionary behind the first LA Cancer Challenge back in 1997. After losing his father Ron to pancreatic cancer, Jon began planning our first 5K/10K race to honor his father’s memory and bring together other families who had lost loved ones to this disease. His goal was to give the pancreatic cancer community a chance to honor loved ones, celebrate and support survivors, and create awareness about a disease that lacked research and funding. Jon not only began this incredible event, but his company, JR286, has been our most generous sponsor, year after year, and his employees play a huge part in raising awareness and supporting the foundation.
It is a testament to all our supporters and the extended LA Cancer Challenge family that, to date, the LACC has now raised more than $10 million dollars to fight pancreatic cancer. The LACC is a day we are reminded to Never Give Up and to fight to the finish!
