Thank you for not just an apples to apples speaker comparison, but for demoing this amp through a cabinet beside the stock, paired Ibanez one or combo. Add to that, you ran pedals through it which no one else seems to have done in a review.

Best comparison of speakers (with a given amp) i've seen so far - and i have seen plenty. Great 😃 Wish there were more good ones (videos) of them Webers so i can be somewhat certain what to get. Been looking for alternatives to an G12H30 55 - and Weber Legacy 12F aint no cheaper than an Celestion G12H30 55Hz so it is a gamble. Great sounding version of Weber speaker you got there though.

great comparison! to preface my thoughts I think both are good but the celestion is definitely not worth a $200 difference. I actually found the celestion to sound more scooped (at least to my ears) when the signal was distorted, where as the weber seemed to push the mids and high end more but dropped off the low end. When the signal was clean I had a hard time telling a significant difference. I think the celestion was a solid full sound, and I think the weber could benefit from more low end. All in all, they both sound great and in a band context it will be harder to pick out those small details.

Weber, although with the Celestion would be a nice 2x12 combo.

There are several unmentioned factors to consider; Every speaker doesn't suit every amp; Speakers need break in time to reach peak performance; Ohm ratings matter, and most amps that offer options still work best at one output rating; Ceramic speakers are familiar to most , so there is a certain amount of immediate attraction to them. Among Alnicos, there is a very big difference between the Jensen/American design and Celestion/British type. With ceramics, there is also a significant difference among price points.Hemp cones are a great way to add some vintage mojo to a modern speaker. Speakers can make or break an amp, particularly if you're looking for sounds outside of the standard or generic .

The clean channel reveals the alnico to be better. A bit of dirtiness in the weber a kind of cheapness, scratchy. I would like to hear a Weber alnico. That nasal midrange he alludes to is awesome, that's the alnico singing.

The Weber definitely sounds smoother, harmonically richer with greater clarity, just an overall more musical sound. The Celestion was brash by comparison, listener fatigue would set in pretty quick.

NIce demo Ryan! i'm curious on your opion of how they sounded in the room. I tend to like how 16 ohm speakers sound compared to 8 and 4, at least for guitar.

Daniel Corey In the room they sound pretty similar to the recording, the volume in room makes everything just sound kind of loud so the finer details are lost in person.

The Celestion is more balanced throughout the frequency spectrum whereas the Webber is a little highs heavier. I'd get the Webber and put the remaining $200 into a better amp if you want to get the best sound for your money.

Nice attempt, especially panning between the two with the same riffs..however the miking/recording not so good.(I like using a condenser off axis and a couple feet back) As for the differences I've owned 2 CBs and many alnico and ceramic speakers. There is most definitely a difference in the attack and sustain with alnico speakers(ceramic hemp cone speakers typically have softened attacks as well) that is obvious in person,to me anyway. It is not captured well here at all.A ceramic or neodimium typically have a faster attack and do not compress as much as an alnico speaker, the alnico speaker compresses even more when you give it more power. The CB has a large 40oz alnico motor and a light weight paper former/coil that offsets some of the slower attack and adds punch-all the while being bright and punchy yet smooth.Ceramics do not have this dynamic so partly for that reason but mostly because alnico is expensive alnico speakers tend to cost more. I've heard good things about this particular Weber, but in person the difference would be much more obvious. If you like tighter punchier tones with less compression your tastes are in line with lower priced speakers(not implying lower quality but lower price)If you like the rounded attack of alnico like me it's gonna cost, lol.

Although I liked the video, I'm a bit confused on the location of the microphone(s?). It appears to these old eyes that there is only one being used and it is located at the end of the boom. But I could be wrong and missed something in the set up. That being said, the microphone(s) location(s) definitely would affect this demo or any demo for that matter. To these ears the Weber sounded great and is a great value. But the Celestion AlNiCo is hands down a better all around speaker - to these ears. NOTE: I have found this to be true, ears are like taste buds - - -

Man, what is it with AlNico speakers. They always sound tinny and choked. While this one doesn't sound all that tinny, it does have that ultra death crunch "trying-to-talk-with-your-mouth-closed" kind of thing going on, very much. Meanwhile, The Weber sounds much more open, more resonant, more....natural. Weber Ceramic for the win, this time. YMMV.
