Күн бұрын

The long awaited Redemption Day! We go back to Gold Mountain with new mods and an extra buddy with his $900 2002 Land Rover Discovery. The FJ Cruiser leads the way up the rocks in a very flamboyant manner as the stock Toyota 4runner and Land Rover Discovery try to keep up. The Tacoma is just awesome with his new King Coilovers. Ofcourse, a Dirt Complex adventure video is never complete without something going wrong!

Thanks for watching! A GX470 with a good lift and good tires will do fine if you're careful. I wouldn't recommend it on stock height as you can see from the video, body damage is likely.

This Disco relies on a fully functioning abs system to work the traction control (10:13) properly, there's no other reason why it's performing so poorly. When my 2004 D2 had stock tires I made it through that type of terrain with limited slippage. I've now got these same BFG's and the thing is limited only by it's stock height. That truck has problems...

What kinda modding did you have to do to get the 295/70R17 Patagonia M/Ts to fit with that lift? Thinking about running those same tires since they're only about .6" taller and .1" wider than the 285s. My 4th gen is a tad taller with JBA UCAs (4+ degrees caster each side) so I'm wondering if I'll have any other issues besides the normal mud flaps/fender liner mods and possibly a body mount chop (if necessary).
@DirtComplex
@DirtComplex 4 жыл бұрын
I looked at the measurements and had the same exact thoughts as you. Yeah with your caster settings you'll be fine! Which wheels?
@dandnguyen
@dandnguyen 4 жыл бұрын
@@DirtComplex Same wheels as you believe it or not - picked em up brand new for cheap. Only difference is I'm running Spidertrax spacers (mostly for UCA clearance). You run into any fitment issues outside of the norm? I'm sitting at ~2.5" front and 1.5" rear for the lift with the aforementioned caster. Gonna trim the bumper and push/heat gun the fender liner until I get a proper steel bumper. We'll see about the body mount chop/relocation once I get the tires on - good to know the 295s shouldn't be a problem - only 10 bucks more a tire and 1.56 lbs!

I highly suggest the lift he has. I found tacoma trd coilovers and shocks all the way around. I added a one inch spacer with front coilover and 2” in rear and looks outstanding. Found the tacoma parts for 100$ on facebook. Got some 255/75’s (32”) tiresfor 300$ and im stoked with how it drives and it aligned perfectly.

Acefearkiller Seems hard to believe. Pretty sure they aren’t bigger than 285s. Either way nice video. Certainly not an easy trail!
@DirtComplex
@DirtComplex 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you heard that correctly! Body mount chop, and a big hammer. With the offset on the 5th gen 4runner wheels they clear the UCA. Also it doesn't stick out too much and puts the tires in an ideal location. Low offset wheels (or the popular 1.25" spacers) put your tires out further and look awesome...but they create a larger arc/swing when turning and will rub a lot more. That being said, yes they did rub my fender sometimes but you can see from the video they did just fine.
@joet243
@joet243 4 жыл бұрын
Dirt Complex Are you running OEM UCAs? I have a 3in lift with SPC UCAs and running 285s on 5th gen trail runs too and there’s no room to go to a 295.

@@joet243 Currently on OEM UCA. These BARELY clear. I can't say anything about other brands in the 295 size, but these Milestars do. Only reason I got 295 over 285 was they were on sale and cheaper than the 285 @$141/per tire! I do have aftermarket UCA waiting to be installed.

I think I was just above 20. My problem is I still need to buy a decent compressor and I hate how long it takes to air up. I should've bought rock sliders as the first armor mod, not the bumper, but I wanted a winch hahah. Yeah this was filmed before I installed the bumper. Thanks for watching!!

@DirtComplex

Oh no he would knock down some buildings if he had a tank. To be fair that $900 Land Rover took a lot of work to make it up those rocks, he does it much easier in his wrangler.
@krover01

@@DirtComplex maybe because he doesn't know how to drive? Sweet spot for the traction control is 1800 rpm. Anymore and you over power the brakes.
@DirtComplex
@DirtComplex 4 жыл бұрын
@@krover01 In a properly working Discovery you are absolutely correct. However, the center diff wasn't locked, and the traction control was not working at all. As soon as a tire lifted all the power just went to that tire, no matter the rpm. In fact the only thing that got him up those rocks was momentum.

Lol. Poor people? Poor you. Your life must not be very fun, but maybe I'm wrong because ignorance is bliss. Offroading is one of the fastest growing sectors of the aftermarket auto industry. You think poor people are buying those $60k Ford raptors, $50k Jeep Rubicons, and $40k TRD Offroad Toyotas? Yeah I bet so many poor people are buying those $3,000 king shocks that the Tacoma is using in the video. If you are trying to prove a point perhaps try doing some research because you obviously have no clue about automobiles, especially offroading.
