Summary of Flaws 1.) Both rear quarter panels were wavy above where the fender flares are bolted. Harry mentions it at the beginning of the video. You can see it more clearly at 21:00 This is most likely a production issue. Also why most cars today have convex shaped panels. Flat panels are harder to keep flat! Especially when bolting something to them. 2.) Some minor waviness and fitment issues with window rubber molding. Also on the door sill. 3.) Lower corner of windshield slight chipping (from shipping or installation?) Not shown in video 4.) Panel gaps were actually all very good. Especially compared to the panel gap inconsistencies from other Tesla vehicles. Offroading Concerns 1.) The lower rear bumper is ugly and would get destroyed. Not sure why they added that bulky lower piece. Easy for upgrade. 2.) The center section below battery is ONE HUGE PANEL. 12:48 Looks expensive to replace (if its replaceable). Getting dents and scrapes would not be ideal. Definitely needs skid plates. It's unfortunate that just because we are unbiased and critical some think we are haters. If you watch the video I said I liked the Cybertruck, but already having a Rivian R1T doesn't make me want to change. We have a Model Y and Volvo XC40 recharge with Tesla solar and Powerwalls at home (not a tesla hater). Along with a V8 4runner and an awd turbo celica. Dirtcom built a twin supercharged Buick GSX. Along with our F350 diesel Tremor. I would say if you look at our cars we are pretty damn open minded.

I love the way that thing looks and the tough exoskeleton. I’m in construction, I’ve owned three trucks, never towed much though. I don’t get the haters. Electric trucks are better imo with the exception of towing range. unless you tow often for long distances, most will just plug it in at home once or twice a week overnight and never go to a gas station again. Road tripping requires supercharging, but how much of your life is spent on road trips? there’s a lot of misinformation out there on EV‘s, but then there’s a lot of industry that stands to lose a lot of money so...

Yes. The "range anxiety" nonsense is definitely blown out of proportion. Most people do not drive over 200 miles on their daily commute. Charging at home overnight is more than enough for most people. In 6 months we have put 18,000 miles on the Rivian R1T with daily commutes and long (1,000+ mile) road trips. If you CAN charge at home EVs are great. If you CANNOT charge at home, the infrastructure is not ready for you. People ask me "what happens if you run out of charge" I look them straight in the eye and say, "Now why the hell would I do that? Why would I be so bad at planning that I would just blindly drive into the middle of nowhere with no charger" Range anxiety is easily cured be addressing the "anxiety" part of that statement. Definition of anxiety is as follows, "a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome." So how do you cure the uncertain outcome? With a bit of planning. WOW. Who would've thought that PLANNING your road trip was so controversial....

The "bullet proof material" is definitely something special. I don't see why it can't be stamped into slightly more curvy shapes. Especially since it can be bent without fracturing. Plenty of metallurgy experts can confirm this idea.

So that was visible on both sides above both rear fender flares. It seems like that is a production issue they need to resolve. It's located right above where the fender flares bolt on.

I WONDER ... is there a bunch of empty space in the Cybertruck's structural 123kw battery pack ... for a "full" 200kw battery pack that will eventually yield that 500+ mile EPA range in new models ... once 4680 battery cell production really gets going in the next couple of years??? Waiting for Sandy Munro's CT tear down for that answer. Also...sure WISH Tesla could have somehow found room for an underneath spare like the Ford Lightening.
@DirtComplex7 ай бұрын
Yeah the Ford Lightning is still on a traditional truck frame so it was much easier to find place for a spare. I think Tesla (like a lot of new cars with no spares) just did some math and decided "it's extra weight and not everyone will use it"
@christianedelmann68807 ай бұрын
Pretty sure na, the “cyber cell” is quite conservative for current battery chemistry technology but I’m pretty sure when we have LG or pana cells in this bad boi, range will increase
@LarryASilva7 ай бұрын
@@christianedelmann6880 Well....recall that in 2019...one could pre-order a CT with one, two, or three motors ... in three different mileage ranges ... from 250 up to 500 EPA miles. I am thinking that Telsa chose the middle sized battery pack for this 1st gen release ... to conserve limited presently limited 4680 production. Note that the 4680 equipped Model Y was discontinued to safe 4680's for the Cybertruck. There may be LOTS of room in the present CT battery area for LOTS more cells. Note that the Hummer has a 212kwh battery pack ... and the CT does NOT sport a spare tire cage underneath. Lettuce sea what Sandy Munro's tear down reveals ... or perhaps we might get a sneak peak quicker via a future collision damaged/salvage CT.

Battery tech is growing exponentially
@LarryASilva7 ай бұрын
Yes. I asked Gruber Motor Co. about a month ago what the LABOR COST ONLY is for swapping out a Tesla battery pack and he said 1500-2000 dollars. One can well imagine a day in 2035 when a 1st gen CT owner pulls into Midas Magic Battery Swappers .... and has them put in a new tech battery that will at least TRIPLE today's range at less weight and cost. I am reminded of the 1st gen hand held cell phones that were reminiscent of the tube type walkie talkies used during WWII. Us 1st gen CT owners ... are just going to have to put up with some vacation roadtrip blues.... or curb our enthusiasm if we planned on our CTs being work trucks hauling gear and materials to a worksite 70 miles from home in eastern Montana. EVs are working great for a lot of people ... but maybe not for the transport and working lifestyles of more than a few truck people. NOT YET ... but a very long range and near maintenance free CT and F250 EV day ... WILL EVENTUALLY COME.

Wow! Talk about being triggered! I would’ve just ignored the critics about this one, because few people have them, and Elon is already said that this is basically digging our own grave, because of the complexity and difficulty it is in actually mass producing these things and so far the enthusiasm for the CyberTruck is simply off the chain in terms of people wanting to buy them. Cheers 🥂
