Thanks for the video. This shows that lumens must increase by magnitudes in order make a difference; turning all of these lights on at once is no more impressive than simply turning on the MS18 alone. More important than lumens is directionality; where do you want the light to go? To see further away, a jump from 100KLumens to 1,000KLumens can easily offer less benefit than switching to a narrower beam. Super-bright, expensive flooders are often pointless outside of arid environments, as any dust or humidity in the air simply creates a white wall of haze, though the lights did surprisingly well in this video as the weather was apparently favorable. The next step up from 100,000 lumens is not 200,000; it will likely take at *least* 500,000 to make a substantial difference to observers. The MS18 proves the impracticality of these lumen levels in handheld lights and its performance cannot easily be exceeded to any observable degree without new technologies or a serious redefinition of the word "handled". A "mere" 10,000 lumens is perfectly usable if reflected according to the task at hand *and* will be far more sustained; the MS18 can't maintain near-advertised outputs even with its annoyingly loud fan, though it does offer an interesting, but expensive, way to start fires ;). In fact, it's only a matter of time before someone starts a raging wildfire by dropping their high-lumen light into dry grass, resulting in inevitable regulations against our hobby. When this happens, we will, as always, have only a few idiots to blame for their irresponsible usage of high-temperature, handheld lights. While not lasers, high-output LED lights make up in lumens what they lack in coherency ;). Some day, a high-output light may be considered an "open flame" within public lands, regardless of relevant threat.

The light does travel farther than metal halide because LEDS are more directional which makes them seem brighter. Metal halide is just outdated, but seems cool. They’re still very bright.

I live in the country, not to be confused with the "boonies", as I do have a few neighbors, though the closest is about 100 yards away, and I'm only a couple of miles from town. Within a quarter mile radius of my home I have 2 streams, a river, railroad tracks, fields, and 10,000+ trees, and I don't even consider this area to be the "wilderness". But it seems some people consider a playing field and some playgrounds with a cluster of 12 or more trees the "wilderness" ROTFLMAO I apologize for the rant. The camera stepped down badly so I didn't get too technical. If I did it again I'd probably need a drone to avoid the dreaded glare on the ground near by. Or film on the top off a cliff so the camera just films distant light.

Bullshit !!! You can't power a flashlight past 25,000 lumens unless have an outrageous amount of power behind it....like a flux capacitor or 10 car batteries. Those are maybe 10,000 Lumens, Max.

The MS18 is powered by 8 x 4000mAh Samsung 21700's. 32,000mAh. These cells can do 30A x 4.2V so 126W each. A 126W LED light bulb would be around 12, 000 lumens so 12,000 x 8 = 96000 lumens which is roughly what the MS18 makes when first turned on, it does drop output sharply though.
