I am sure that there are similar companies in the USA/Canada, and that the problem exists there too, but this particular company seems to have the edge and know-how for success. The videos can be seen on :- < automatricMtrack > Your property is so far out that it would be very easy to roll up there with a trailer and load that nice new unit up in a few minutes and be gone for good, especially with all the viewing that you are showing the world what you have! Hope it never happens to you, but I know what it feels like to loose some tools from a job site, the feeling of violation and also the loss of production when half you equipment has grown legs and left you.

From the clip at the start of vid, I only see 1 pipe being connected to the tank, so I'm assuming the tank will be filled from the bottom. That will create a high back pressure on the pump plus the head of that we'll pump. Also the signal wire you're using, how many cores, and what apparatus will be used to tell the pump to turn on at 50%, and shut off at 100%.
@kevmarmarsh42386 жыл бұрын
@Biana Doubtremember that he is using a 1 inch line over 700ft at somewhere close to 135 head, being pump into a tank which is around 7ft diameter. As that tank is being filled from the bottom, the ability of the pump to overcome that resistive force is being increased exponentially. Causing an increased electrical current pull, thus running hot and probably damaging it. What I thought he would have done was to, put a non return valve on the horizontal pipe going to the discharge of the tank and t off on the on the before the elbow on the pex pipe and fill the tank from the top, and a added security of shut off with a float valve in the tank. This would create a zero back pressure on the pump, remember those things are not cheap, so get it rite from start.
@kevmarmarsh42386 жыл бұрын
Correction, the ability to overcome the increasing resistive force is reduced exponentially.

Hello this is Mike with RPS Solar Pumps. We worked with Red Poppy Ranch to properly size the solar pump system. He has about 100ft of vertical elevation from the well to the tank. Assuming it is 700ft of 1in line at 5GPM, this results in a friction loss equivalent to 21PSI or about 50ft of additional pumping head, plus 10 extra feet for the tank height. This gives us a total dynamic head of 160 feet that the pump has to overcome. This system, the RPS400, will produce about 5GPM or 1,800 gallons over a 6 hour pumping day at 160 feet of pumping head. In fact the RPS400 is good up to 225ft of head at 4GPM! The pumps feature brushless motors and soft start, so there is little concern about extra wear on the pump. One note that is sometimes counter intuitive. Water pressure is directly related to vertical elevation and is independent of pipe or tank diameter. Meaning for filling the tank from the bottom, the diameter of the tank does not matter. It is all about how many vertical feet the water is being raised.

Im afraid with the diameter of the supply is going to restrict the flow alot! Rather start out 1.5"or 2" and drop smaller the closer to the house. That can be fixed by putting a tank at the house! Come a long ways! what a job!
@RPSSolarPumps6 жыл бұрын
Hello Tom, this is Mike with RPS Solar Pumps. We helped Red Poppy Ranch with the solar pump on this system. Assuming the 1in pipe from the tank is 700ft long with a vertical drop of 100ft, this will produce about 13 gallons per minute, without too much drop in pressure. 13 GPM is not too bad for a house, but it might be noticeable if someone is taking a shower and turns on a hose full blast outside. But doing the dishes and taking a shower at the same time should be fine. Your right, if this becomes a problem, they can always add a pressure bladder tank near the house later to help buffer water usage spikes!
@HankHill7575 жыл бұрын
Isnthere just 1 line from the well up to the tank, with the T that runs into the house on the way up? Tying to understand the water line supply design. Is the tank suppling the head pressure for the line as well as acting as a storage container?

How do you treat and filter your service water into the house to mate it potable. I’m a plumber in the uk and our regs say that as soon as water is stored it becomes category 2 water, which mean it shouldn’t be drunk due to the fact the temperature can increase causing bacteria to grow.This would definitely be the case as obviously you store it in your tank. Just curious how you treat it. Many thanks for the videos! I have binged on them for hours as have only just come across your channel! .

I am very interested in your method of tank full and tank feed, plus pump turn on signal. I'm seeing some cons in your method.
@RPSSolarPumps6 жыл бұрын
Hello Kevmar, this is the RPS400 system and it has a controller with both tank full and well low sensor input. Just put a sensor in the well and one in the tank and the controller does the rest. When the tank is full, the controller shuts down the pump and if the well level happens to drop down, it shuts down the pump for up to 30 minutes to allow it to refresh before starting back up. This prevents damage to the pump and motor from running dry. If the sensor wire ever gets damaged, there are alternative methods such as pressure switches, which are a bit more complicated, but can work if needed. Later this year, we will be coming out with our wireless tank full sensor, but unfortunately, it was not ready in time for Red Poppy Ranch.

@RPSSolarPumps6 жыл бұрын
Hello this is Mike with RPS Solar Pumps ready to answer any questions! No batteries needed. All of our systems can operate directly off solar and in this case at 5GPM of pumping volume over 6 hours, would give 1,800 gallons per day, which is usually plenty of water for a household. If the need arises, batteries can always be added later with more panels for increased volume.
@bikerchic79386 жыл бұрын
I guess I am trying to understand how this works with only 1 pipe.. What determines when the pump in the well starts and stops? How much pressure is the pump thats pushing up the water? I would assume its much higher than the water pressure coming back from the tank. What about when you turn on a faucet? If the pump was running in the well, wouldnt the water then come from the well and not the tank due to higher pressure from the pump..Is there a one way valve somewhere in there... Someone educate me please...
@RPSSolarPumps6 жыл бұрын
Hello Mike with RPS Solar Pumps here. Lots of great questions, I will do my best to answer and explain them. (And just to note, these are the basics. Sometimes things can get a bit more complex due to friction loss in the pipe, but we will leave that out for now as you can do basic system sizing and we are always happy to double check numbers for customers!) 1. What determines when the pump in the well starts and stops? Our systems come with an advanced controller with tank full probes and low well probes. When the tank is full, the probe tells the controller the tank is full and to shut off the pump, so the tank does not overflow. If the water is low in the well, it also tells the controller to stop pumping water to allow some time for the well to refresh. This prevents the pump from running dry and overheating. 2. How much pressure is the pump thats pushing up the water? Water pressure is directly related to the vertical feet of water, 1 PSI of water pressure is equal to 2.31 vertical feet of water (diameter of the pipe does not matter for pressure). So for 100ft of vertical elivation to the tank, the pressure at the pump is right around 43PSI (100feet/2.31 = 43PSI). 3. I would assume its much higher than the water pressure coming back from the tank. If the usage point is at the same height as the well, then the pressure will be the same 43PSI for 100ft. It is all about the vertical elevation change of the water and not whether it is coming from the tank or going to the tank. 4. What about when you turn on a faucet? If the pump was running in the well, wouldnt the water then come from the well and not the tank due to higher pressure from the pump The pump will only run when it senses the tank is not full. If the water level in the tank drops, then the pump turns on. If the pump happens to be running when a faucet is turned on, then yes some water might be comming from the pump or also from the tank, really depends how much water is being used. Take for example if we turn on a hose at 7 GPM (gallons per minute). At first all the water will be coming from the tank, 7GPM. When the water level drops in the tank and the pump turns on, then about 5GPM will be coming from the well and 2GPM from tank. It may sound complicated, but in practice you don't even have to think about it and you can let the system do its thing! Elevated tanks are the absolute best way to get water pressure for solar pumping systems, since you can fill the tank during the day and use water at night without running the pump. Now if you turn on a faucet using 2GPM, when the water level in the tank drops and the pump turns on, 2 GPM will be coming from the pump and 3GPM will be going up to the tank refilling it. 5. Is there a one way valve somewhere in there? Only place there is a one way valve is at the pump to prevent water from running back out of the pump and into the well.
@bikerchic79386 жыл бұрын

im curious if it would have been cheaper to just put a gas powered well pump next to the tank in the shed and place it on a remote start from the house, so you could flip a switch start it up and let it pump from time to time, because that tank isnt going to drain all that fast unless your being wasteful. Also make sure you insulate with it getting cold at night or you will destroy all your hard work.

maybe cheaper but that would mean more maintenance over time. This option is a "set it once and leave it forever" type of deal.

nothing lasts forever :D Batteries in solar system maintained will last 5-6 years? Solar panel will loose efficency after 10 years

No batteries apparently.. No gas, no motor service.. Heath has done his homework and his choices look promising. He has a signal cable from the tank so the less they use the less wear will be put on the system.. we won't have to wait long to see how it performs.. I look forward to it and I am in support of his decisions 👍

Não eram 2 galões? Assim na superfície não irá congelar?

I think this says "There were 2 gallons so on the surface it will not freeze"

Another great video... sometimes it's not the winter that makes for more Turkey sightings or not.... could have been a predator also hanging around.....I had a Momma Deer in my backyard this year with triplets....they play like puppies.... pretty hard to hunt them once they become your friends....lol...most hunter I know will never hunt their own land for that reason. Depending on what live stock you get you will start seeing more predators Their are a few specific dog breeds that live in the flock and are never a pet.(Maremma Sheep Dog being one...)... you may need one... that's perfect Mountain Lion country... With the hills and deer, they travel hundreds of miles in their territory.. On the water pressure.... I have a well system and the pressure is created by the well pump to the pressure tank..if you had something like that in your house would that always keep up the pressure for the house if someone was using a hydrant?...? Maybe you already are using that type of system..lol... or not being solar powered.with limited electricity.

I wanted water up on the hill and I did not want to rely on pumps for pressure. Gravity will provide the pressure.

Heath what size pex line did you run and what is the purpose for the black tape wrap on the crimps ? You were saying the well road was not getting used often. How are you planning to fill the tank ?
@RedPoppyRanch6 жыл бұрын
1" line. The electrical tape keeps the copper and brass from corrosion.

Was the 1" tubing thicker than standard housing pex ? Was wondering about the worry of collapsing the pex . Being buried 3ft deep. Remember I am a Florida boy we don't have to worry about frost. Not doubting you. Just learning 🤔
