Awesome job on fixing the saw. I'm sure you've thought about the water lubrication to keep the blade cool. A little diesel fuel to keep the pine from gumming it up & alcohol to keep from freezing. Was wondering if you ever listened to Colter Wall?

Oh man. Hope there are some safety upgrades or a future saw mill sponcership in the works. Red Poppy Ranch with a one armed Heath would not be the same. Still, hat off to you for the engineering. Thanks for alll your great content.

Yeah! Your sawmill is how I found your channel... I was searching for someone who had built their own.,.. rather than buy one of the pricey ones. You... and Matthew Cremona - he built a monster mill... and you built a simple functional mill. But when I see an automated one like Outdoors With The Morgans... well, I'd really think hard about spending the money because it looks like it would be worth it. I hope you do build a bigger better one! I'm also excited to hear that engine run now for the first time in it's new frame. Doing what you do helps to give us confidence to try some of this stuff ourselves, and I thank you for that.

First thing I would add, before anything else, would be a safety cowl covering as much of the exposed blade as I could.

It was so good to see you using the saw mill again making your own building timbers, and the pick-up will be ready soon too. Good luck for the future

just a thought. it's not uncommon for saw blades to snap. I think it would be a good idea to enclose the saw blade and the drive wheels. Thank you for fantastic videos.

You could have done two trailer loads or took the sawmill to the logs

You are going to hate this comment, but since many have brought up the fumes in the garage, I’ll just mention that watching you zoom around on that four wheeler on snow and ice without a helmet on a hillside, you are one rollover accident away from having to sell everything because you wouldn’t be able to physically maintain the property anymore. Also, some proper winter clothing would help in extending your health and ultimately…. life. Just something to think about. It’s one thing to be rugged and carefree like the old days, but then plain stupidity and recklessness is also a thing.

Heath, you more than likely have told us how old this ‘saw-mill’ is. I’m in and about at times but I’d just LOVE to know how old this mi is. God bless you for your persistence in getting of equipment to be reactivated. Your ‘homestead’ is going to be a live-in museum the way you are going. God Bless and all my Love From Ellen Qld, Au.

Hi heath, had a thought to drop on ya regarding what you said about getting things up to where your sawmill is. Why not install a sort of lift running up the mountain face a bit to elevate materials to the tier you need them to be. Different tiers could have prepositioned equipment on the various tiers to suit your needs. It would also save your running it and down, save fuel, save time and most importantly, save your back.

Sounding more like a Johnny Cash truck. Will be cool when finished. Think about it. You are trying to make it work for you, but the guy that built it, it worked for him at the time. I wonder if the four wheeler could pull two or three logs at a time.
@michaelevans7013Күн бұрын
You could use a heavy plate as backing to build a blade protector and stiffen the frame.

I’ve seen most sawmills have some type of lubricant for the blade. Is that something you won’t need or plan to add when you redone the mill? I also like the quad snow track that your racing around on moving logs. Looks like good fun.

I think a chainsaw mill would be cheaper and safer. If I was going to build one, I would have the saw statinary and have the log move on a slide thru the blade.

U might include a reservoir with diesel fuel in it going to the blade to dissolve the pine sap that the blade picks up while cutting. I'm sure U could find a manufactured saw mill with a system like to emulate. It would help keep your board cuts smooth, no chattering lines. Just saying!

Consider getting a hose over exhaust pipe so you can funnel exhaust out of shop before you leave a film of residual smoke all over the new improvements especially diesel exhaust on starting it will eventually build up on the walls of shop and in the living & rec areas of shop , just a suggestion you do you, but an inch of preventative ventilation would save a huge amount of cleanup 🤪
