Mercury 25hp two stroke outboard. Tested on 11ft savage gull aluminum boat which was too small for this outboard.

Hey bro i purchased this baby off you about 3 years ago what a mad motor I have sunk this 6 times now and she just keep on coming back to life I recommend your motors 100% cheers bro

Cheers mate 👌 You must be doing the right thing after you sink it though mate for it to keep living. Sinking a motor is totally fine and does not affect the motor at all as long as you flush it out and give it a good run after for about an hour to burn off all moisture in the motor. Well done on keeping it running sweet 👌 Great motors, love the merc 25 Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Hi mate love your videos i have a stacer 3.3 tinny and want to put a 25 hp 2 stroke on it simply just for wake boarding i know the motor is a little big but if im only using half throttle it wouldn't harm the hull wqtch your advise thanks mate

Nice 😂 I will try do better for you next time. Thanks or taking the time to share your disappointment champ. I unfortunately only had a phone and a gps onboard that day when I was testing and wasn’t really even planning on making a video but thought people may like to see how that motor goes so did a vid anyway. At least I ran through the motor a bit before my head dominated your screen, I didn’t even realize until you pointed it out, I love outboards and boats so much when I reviewed it I was just focused on the water rushing past and the sound of the motor. I get it and hopefully some of my later vids are better and future vids will be better still. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

Restrictive carb gasket changed out? I do that on my Mercury Sea Pro 25's which are actually Tohatsu 30's which are great engines. Two strokes rock!

G'day mate. How easy or not to convert to electric start? Is it worth it ?
@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, Good question 👍 If you can get a cheap electric start motor that is blown up or just for wrecking then it is not too bad $$. If you are to try and buy the new parts to do it, even from a wrecker it’s not worth it. I would just keep a close eye out to see what comes up and weigh if all up. I have not really come across too many electric start USA 25hp Mercury’s personally. The Japan built 25 - 30hp Mercury (same as the tohatsu) brought out a heap of electric start motors in Australia, good option if you need electric start and it doesn’t work out with your USA built one. Cheers 🍻

Hey mate, I just purchased a 25hp mariner long shaft, she looks exactly like yours here. I have put it on a 3.2m dolphin tinny, yet to take it out yet. What was making you not wanting to go full throttle? Is it a reliability thing such as the boat physically can’t handle it or does it just get too dangers and sketchy but the boats fine to handle it? Thanks a lot mate :)
@25hpboatracerman4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yeah that tinny was only rated for a 7.5hp and very lightweight. I could definitely go full throttle for as long as I wanted but I know it would have bent the keel on the boat. If you overpower a tinny the twisting force on the transom forces the keel up just in front of the transom and puts a hook in the hull. Tinnys with a hook in the hull porpoise badly. If you need to strengthen your tinny, put an extra support up the centre of the keel on the inside and some more bracing on the transom (you can search sea all superskua or Stessle rat pack tinnies to show the strengthening) Ps: it is the exact same motor, they go nicely. Cheers

Put take everything out besides the fuel tank, top trim setting and have some fun, perfect size motor for that boat
@25hpboatracerman5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know, been there and done that for many years, it is fun that’s true. After I raced boats for many years, going 60kph or 70kph in a tinny still feels slow and I seemed to be in one of my (rare) sensible moods that day. Cheers, Glenno

I've got 15hp on a 3.15metre tinny and it does 40k's full throttle.

I THINK that engine is actually a Tohatsu 30 which is a great engine by the way. Look for a restrictive carb gasket.....
@25hpboatracerman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Again Eric. This is a USA built 25hp. I think it may be beneficial to have a quick look on google images at the two different motors, they are very different. If this is the same as your one, you have the USA built, you can check your build plate, it will say USA at the base. Cheers

@@25hpboatracerman This model 25hp Mercury HP I had on a 10foot Stessl Outlaw and trimmed right out went 65kmh. These Mercury's are so much better than the "Tohatsu Mercurys" that are complete rubbish and sound like absolute shit. The USA built 25hp Mercury sounds awesome flat stick trimmed right out running a rooster tail.💯
@25hpboatracerman Жыл бұрын
@@victorpeirce4753 Hi mate, Yeah they are good but I disagree, the tohatsu are a better motor for sure and faster, I have raced both competitively. Reason the tohatsu is better is it’s a cast iron bore and the USA 25 is just a treated alloy bore and one scuff the USA block is toast. The stock tohatsu on a race boat is close to 10kph faster than the 25 USA motor. I agree that the USA merc 25 sounds better for sure though. Also the gear ratio on the tohatsu is 1.92 to 1 as compared to the a lot of the USA 25hp motors at 2.25 to 1 so the tohatsu lends itself to a more performance set up. The tohatsu is used here in Australia for all the surf rescue boats because of its proven durability and toughness, even if you sink them, a clean up and good run after sorts them back to great. The USA merc 25hp is 400cc the tohatsu 25 is 430cc and actually 30hp when you remove the restriction gasket behind the carburetor, I could go on but won’t. I do love the USA merc 25 as well, and glad you like them too. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

@@25hpboatracerman Thanks for letting me know all about that mate. Very interesting to hear. I guess I'm just old school. I had the US 15hp Mercury before I got my US 25hp and that was an awesome motor as well trimmed out pulling 6OOOrpm. For some reason the US block Mercury 25hp is kind of nostalgic for me I guess. It has to be the sound of it. Take care my friend.👍👍

@@victorpeirce4753 Too easy mate 👌 Yeah, they do sound good, I also really like the shape of the trunk or leg on them. Owned a few 8, 9.9 and 15hp USA mercs too which are also great motors. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎
