26 - Final Ride

Here's the last chance I'll get to drive one of these old, true Blue Bird. 26, a 1999/2000 model All American. Powered by a 205 horse 24 valve 5.9 Cummins and mated to the 545. What a bus. First year that Haywood ordered air doors and white roofs. She'll be missed. She's onto her second life as a camper/RV. Retired with 92 thousand miles on it. Enjoy.

She sounds beautiful! I cannot get over at how amazing it sounds. My district used to have Blue Birds (A3-FE's, TC2000s, etc) but they all got replaced by IC CE's and were moved to the Junior High School's activity field. I hope I can ride a Blue Bird TC2000 one day. Anyways, this is a good video!

Edit:down to two 99s, seven 2000s , still got the 01 and 02s and down to two 03s, bus 19 (1999)failed inspection in January and is a parts bus, bus 28 (2000) came back but hasnt ran in over a year and has no inspection so probably also parts and bus 33(2003) is done. Rusted, damaged a bit, engine cover up and falling apart inside with expired inspection, we just got 3 2020 c2s (12,13,16) replacing 99 model tcs and they're almost ready but have no communications hookup yet (no radio or cameras yet,) they have inspection though so once that's set up. Then they'll probably be registered for plates !

Good ol' TCs! Holy crap, only 92k?! Woodstock's old bus 6, a '92 TC, had over 200k on it when it was retired in late 2008. More impressively, the small bus company I work for just left the home-to-school business and the three 2011 Visions have around 190k.

The shift of a 5.9 with an Allison behind it is one of my favorite sounds - reminds me of the TC/2000's I rode growing up. Does this make the screech between 1st and 2nd gear? Sounds like it but hard to tell. If it does, I'd kill for an exterior clip of it.

Ours in levittown make that screech sound. I call it a whistle, always grabs my attention when one passes by on the main road in the morning making me jump out of bed lol, it's a legendary sound to me

@@lirrprodigy2810 lol I totally know what you mean! Down here in south Texas we had 6 Tc2000's from 91-95 they all made that whistle noise and loud! I loved it. Our school did a sealed bid on them from 300 up I bought the 91 for 350 and the rest went to Pearsall which I'm going Monday to check out what's left of them and I'm planning on buying another one with the loudest whistle lol....
