So I found the agency listing for this property on their site and part of it reads: "Please note all open fireplaces and wall box air conditioner are excluded from the tenancy and are not to be used." So rent it, just don't do anything in or around it that could be construed as living in it. If it goes to pieces, that's your own fault, apparently.

I reported my old rental to the HSA and even me, as a tenant who made the original report, was not allowed to see or know what was in the report. The guy who came out to inspect the property was very tight lipped as well. I still don’t know to this day what was written in it, if what I reported was noted or what made my real estate angry enough to kick me out and re-lease it for $90 more a week. All I know is that the landlord/agents weren’t happy they had to pay to fix things they called “cosmetic complaints.” Not sure how a toilet separating from the floor it was attached to & flooding a third of my house for 4 days is a cosmetic thing but pop off to them. They’re now shutting down and still owe me money they haven’t legally lodged and were supposed to. Did research the other night and there was no active ABN attached to the agency until a year after I had signed the lease and almost two weeks after I had reported them. Big lol.

Literally watching this in the dark. House wiring was deemed unsafe following legislation mandating wiring inspections. The landlord's solution was to install new switches that trip better. So the problem is there, unfixed, and now it's dark - but no fire, I guess? I am too scared to bring it up to the real estate because the landlord always shows up. He is mad at me because the trees were not well manicured when he showed up last time. He was also surprised to find the other two tenants in the driveway... who have lived here for 2 years and he was never informed. The real estate have ignored every request to add them to the lease, so now I am the sole leaseholder on a month-to-month despite living here 9 years. The landlord also informed me that real estate told him to kick us out when my old housemates requested a working stove 4 years ago. I need to hire someone to trim back all the trees and hedges so I can report wiring problems - pretty sure I'm just going to hire an electrician. I can't afford to get kicked out right now. The legislation has just made things worse. /end rant. Sorry it got so long. World's smallest violin in comparison to most.
