Speaking about l'Arc de Triomphe, if you intend to get there by metro, don't leave the train at the CDG Étoile station, choose some station before, such as George V or Kléber. Étoile station is huge, confusing, with lots of exits you probably will choose the wrong one, and full of scammers and pickpockets.

My fourth visit will be for a month in July. That charging your phone at the bus stop😮. This 8 minutes was packed with tips. I have to watch it again. Unfortunately, I totally agree with you about Champs Elysées. Stopped going there and a few other touristy spots after my second visit. Yes, I am a tourist as well, but I now seek a more everyday local experience given the leisure of a month to have it. Your content is the best out there and your videos are so entertaining. I have my own experiences planned(mostly unplanned as sitting at a non-touristy cafe with a book for hours is tops on the list) but I do not want to miss anything. I am getting your guide.

Jay has said this in many videos but my suggestion is to take the elevator in Abbesses metro station. We will never make that mistake again! And absolutely go to Bobby (pizza) in Montmartre!!

You're absolutely right about getting getting fined. That happened to me last year. The minute I stepped off that train security was there, stopping people checking your tickets to see if it said Charles De Gaulle. Mine said Paris and I had to pay a €39 fine. I won't make that mistake again. I love Gallette de rois! Just had some last month for my birthday in Paris! 😊

Great tip about the Champs Elysees! It takes ages to walk down it and it’s for the most part uninteresting and too busy. I’d just get Metro Line1 and go from Arc de Triomphe straight to Place de la Concorde ! Like those chargers at the bus stop 😊

As a Parisian, I totally agree with you on The Champs Élysées. No Parisians come there. It was once a very beautiful Avenue, but it has no interest anymore, except the part between Franklin Roosevelt and Place de la Concorde : but is mainly gardens there 😉

Not to be that guy who misses all the main points and focuses in on side issues - but - you should do a whole video on how you planned that "just take your seat" shot as you parked it on the (I assume) abandoned toilet. Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Public toilets are pretty hit or miss - there are a bunch in high traffic areas, and then in more residential/tighter streets, there can be none forever. Definitely use them whenever you have access, and then you can always offer to buy an espresso in exchange for a toilet if you're feeling desperate.

The pass will save you so much time and effort! Especially given that you will have two kids with you (I’m assuming they’re young?) and as Jay says in the video, you have to scan your pass or put your ticket in the machine when you’re leaving as well as when you’re entering. There’s nothing so stressful as when your family have already gone through the gate with their passes and you’re hunting for the specific paper ticket that you used to board the train or metro 30 or 40 minutes ago. The pass may seem expensive, but it’s a time saver.

Unless it changed in 2023 you can’t put an RER B ticket to the airport on your Navigo Easy card, so you have to buy an old fashioned paper ticket. You can buy zone 5 passes for 1 or more days but those don’t make sense if you’re just going to or from the airport.

As of 2024 during the Olympics, Zone 5 is not included on Navigo. P.S. we found the "Bonjour RATP" app to be very helpful. Buying 10 t+ tickets and saving to Apple wallet was the move. Sometimes we hit snags, but it was due to faulty scanner systems. Paper tickets still around and kiosks vend them with contactless payment. Good to have a couple on you, for analog backup system.

100%, but you have to actually go to 4 different museums in 2 days, or 6 in 4 days etc. I highly recommend it because you can easily see the Louvre plus L'Orangerie (an absolute must) in one day. Then you can spend the next day seeing les Musées Picasso, D'Orsay, de L'Armée... and around sundown: L'Arc de Triomphe !!! The best view of the Eiffel Tower (as well as 360 degrees of the city) hands down. The Tower does it's spectacular light show at the top of the hour at night. Other unique inclusions: Versailles, Guimet, Quai Branly, Art Moderne, Louvre (for a second trip)

So you know the old saying, “Don’t drink the water?” I was talking to my hubby about getting a carafe of water at restaurants in Paris, and he said he was still worried about the tap water making you sick. It looks like that’s not as much of a thing as it used to be, but as a tourist…is it really ok to drink the tap water? I’d hate to get sick and have the rest of our trip ruined. On our last trips to both France and Italy, we’ve always stuck with bottled water…but it would be nice not to pay for it if we didn’t have to.

The tap water is perfectly ok in France. Don't worry 🙂 France is among the countries with the purest tap water, so don't bother with plastic bottle 😉

The tap water is 100% drinkable. My only complaint about the water here is how hard it is, but if you don't live here you shouldn't have to scrub any sinks, so you'll be A-OK 😆

Hey! Absolutely you can. Paris isn't known for being the most accessible, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. You can find Paris' accessibility guide here: (from 2019, imo they are overdue for an update, but there will hopefully be one before the olympics): parisjetaime.com/eng/article/accessible-paris-guide-a538 With a scooter you'll likely want to travel by bus (ramps are located by button on the SIDE of the bus, not the front) and you'll want to have your tickets in advance. Most museums have accessibility information in English on their websites, if you don't speak French. Airbnb has accessibility features in their search that you can tick to find the perfect place for you. I hope this information helps a bit! You'll love being here for a whole month :)

Yes, the RER B is safe and everyone uses it. As with any public transportation, have your valuables away, stay off your phone, and stay alert. But this goes for public transit in most cities!

Hi Samantha! The buses do take paper tickets, but not as a transfer. For example, you cannot ride the metro and then get on the bus with the same ticket, unfortunately - that would take two!

Yeah! I mean, technically they're paid for by taxes, but that means that the burden isn't on the individual, but the collective. Important to note, though, if you opt-in for a return ride with the ambulance when they think you're well enough to get yourself hope... you will be charged for that. But typically no more than a few hundred, even then!

As a french person living in paris i'd like to give you yet another advice: try to avoid paris as much as you can. Maybe stay there one day to see the basics (louvre, montmartre) but leave fast ! And if you want to stay more than one day, try to find an acomodation outside of paris (i suggest the western suburbs, it's gonna be cheaper and WAY MORE safe). And you can easily go to paris with the RER C. But there are so many goegeous places in france, with beautiful nature, architecture, food and nice people (yes i swear !), don't waste too much time in that stinky hole filled with thieves paris has become. You might end up disapointed and traumatized.

Wow....alrighty then. We're going in July and actually in Paris one day to see the Arc and Eiffel and take a evening dinner cruise, then we're heading to Normandy for three days. So, I guess we're good! I'll have to look up 'montmartre'. This is our 25th anniversary trip. We did a European trip on our honeymoon and hit Paris for one day. Guess a lot has changed huh.

Are you a Russian Bot? Paris is a very safe city except for very specific streets that as a tourist you should never find yourself except if you have a crack habit and are in great need. All the negativity in your review of Paris does make one wonder why you bother to live here in France at all. And for your information, 13 000 people move from paris every year because of the insecurity, the price increase and the insalubrity. Aux Champs Élysées is correct, A Champs Elysées is wrong. Why you ask, the word Champs or fields in English is plural, therefore aux champs is right. If it was singular, Champ in English field it would be A Le Champ Elysées. After hearing you say Aux Champs Elysées was wrong I thought, if he’s this far off on basic French grammar the rest of his video is probably crap so I stopped watching. Suggestion, before correcting the French on their grammar in their own country do your homework.

So, when I said "Aux Champs Élysées" should have been "AAA Champs Élysées," this was a joke, not a grammatical error. Let me explain. As we all know jokes are funnier when laid out in plain language, thank you for providing the opportunity to elaborate and enhance the experience for everyone. The joke in this instance is that the Champs Élysées, being an overrated strip mall, no longer really deserves its own ballad. The word "Aux" in French loosely resembles the word "AAA" in English, an onomatopoeia for a human scream. The scream, in this instance, is the probable reaction any given visitor might have when laying eyes upon this famous street covered in multinational box retail, including not one but two American burger chains. Three if you're willing to include the Burger King just a short walk around the corner. This was intended to be humorous as it is unexpected to both the fictional traveler superimposed over the scene and the viewer, who may believe the Champs worth visiting because of the aforementioned song. In summary, my homework was cultural and humorous, not grammatical. But thank you both for this chance to share my work and for the illuminating discourse on French grammar. Cheers! P.S.
