Really love this concept. I am needing to rebuild ours with a roof that raises and access doors. There is power in ours. so heat tape can be employed if desired. The setup also has plumbing that allows for a spigot to feed the garden irrigation system. Current slab is 44" by 45" which I'll keep or add on to if necessary. The house is heavy enough that it did not need to be attached to the concrete slab. I may keep the framing of the old house and adapt a lifting roof; I would like to make it lighter than yours and still maintain good insulation. I'm in the Raleigh area so winters are not too cold either. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bradley! I'm about an hour from you or so. We haven't had an issue over the 3 years this well house has been protecting the well head from weather. My roof is definitely heavy, good luck with your build!

Nice solid unit. I would put my house numbers on it with some big black iron numerals.

Nice well house. I was think of the same thing but I'm in northern Michigan and I'm not sure i could keep it from freezing. We get some -10 F in the winter.
@homesteadpilgrim2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Jerry! :Thanks for the watch. You could add much more insulation than I did, and add an incandescent bulb to burn in the well house for those really cold days. The bulb should keep the well head from freezing, I've done that before . Thanks again for watching.

Looks great! Did you consider putting some noise insulating foam within it to reduce noise when the pump is on?
@homesteadpilgrim6 ай бұрын
Actually, I’ve never heard any noise at all. I assume because the pump is so deep in the well?
@mikelinbeck16862 жыл бұрын
Nice pump house, my only question is how a pump repair company accesses the wellhead to change the pump?
@homesteadpilgrim2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I'm hoping that the current design allows adequate access should we need maintenance.
@christyconatser9823 Жыл бұрын
I agree. That was my question too. The answer is quite lacking. "I HOPE the current design allows adequate access..." Doesn't tell you how access is to be obtained. My well is older and requires me to get close to the pipes and pump and filter in there. No way could I get in close to any part of this from what I can see. Simply propping up the roof wouldn't work for my situation.

Push come to shove, remove hinges and the roof is off. Boom. All ready for maintenance or swapping pump.
@homesteadpilgrim Жыл бұрын
One option is to build one of the walls with hinges to swing out for maintenance

Hi Cheynne! This has "served us well" for 2.5 years so far. The top is rather heavy and isn't getting any lighter! Have a great week.

Very nice man. I'm looking for having a well house in my garden! I pay 5 bucks per 1000 litres (264.17gallons).

I cannot get to a single video, the commercial that opened instead of the video is several minutes long, and another will start right after, good bye KZbin. No skip button, no way to by pass it. this is bull crap. Yep, just like I said it went from several minutes of survival food to light bars, also several minute long. KZbin is crap

Hi Jeffrey, So sorry you had a bad experience with the adverts. Hopefully that was an outlier and you have better results with other videos. Take care and thanks for trying.

@@homesteadpilgrim What is the prop hinge thing called? Looking to purchase one. Thanks great build!
@homesteadpilgrim Жыл бұрын
Sorry, just saw this. The prop for the top cover is simply a 2x4 board attached with a normal door hinge. It sits in a metal bracket when open for safety. The well house is great so far 5 years into our build.
