Report:
On 11-03-2023 I was on shift and assigned to the Air Support Unit. I was working in the capacity of Tactical Flight Officer (TFO) and was aboard Air 2 for a patrol flight.
I was in contact with the Traffic Unit who was working along Montgomery Blvd NE. They observed a group of vehicles and within that group there was an Orange Dodge Challenger. I used the aircraft's camera system to gain view of that vehicle while it was in the parking lot at 5000 San Mateo Blvd NE.
I observed an officer in a marked vehicle enter the parking lot and engage his emergency lights. The Orange Challenger fled the parking lot and out onto San Mateo Blvd in a Northbound direction.
As the vehicle fled I kept view of it relaying its location to responding officers. I observed this vehicle travel at speeds over double the posted speed limits even traveling over 120 mph on Southbound Interstate 25. The vehicle weaved through traffic with was seemed like no regard to the safety of other motorists. The vehicle at one point avoiding officers who were attempting to deflate the tires with a spike belt. To do this, the driver traveled on the wrong side of the road traveling East in Westbound lanes of Avenida Cesar Chavez. The vehicle also drove to the arrivals lanes of the Albuquerque Sunport and could be seen interacting with a Red in color sedan. I kept view of the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes until it finally stopped in the Northwest part of the city at the intersection of 51st and Quail. The driver got out of the vehicle and hurried away from it walking about a half block distance. I relayed the location to the responding officers who arrived a short time later taking that driver into custody.
My observations were recorded and a copy of that recording was tagged into APD Evidence.
