What Happens When You Try To Run From a K9

Report: On 12/28/23 I was dispatched to Draxton Ave SW in reference to a disturbance. The calling party advised dispatch that subjects by the name of Alex and Paris were driving by his residence making threats. He then updated information stating the subjects were parked in front of his residence in a grey vehicle. The caller also advised the subjects were possibly armed with firearms.
I arrived in scene and observed a grey sedan backing out of the driveway. The vehicle turned to head eastbound as I was traveling westbound causing our vehicles to face each other. I engaged the emergency equipment on my unit to stop the vehicle to investigate the nature of the 911 call. The driver of the vehicle pointed at the caller who was standing outside in front of the fence to the driveway. The driver appeared to be upset and mouthed something to the caller. The driver of the vehicle was a Spanish male, who looked to be in his late 20's, with a tattoo on his face. There was a female in the passenger seat which lead me to believe these were the subjects mentioned as Alex and Paris in the 911 call.
The driver of the vehicle backed into a large tree on the south side of the road. The driver, knowing I was a law enforcement officer, put his vehicle in "drive" and accelerated his vehicle intentionally forward causing an application of force which could cause injury to a person. The driver intentionally drove his vehicle into mine to cause damage and or injury to myself to prevent his detention. When the driver did this, it caused me to shift in my drivers seat. At this moment the male driver was under arrest for his actions as he disobeyed the emergency equipment, failed to stop, and showed he was going to flee the stop. Due to this males irate behavior and intentional actions to harm a police officer, I placed positive pressure on the front bumper of the offender vehicle, preventing his escape. This was done as a vehicle blocking maneuver in which I have had proper training and experience. The male driver having no exit with his vehicle, exited through the driver's door and fled into the front yard. I exited the vehicle and the assisting unit advised me that the male was fleeing while armed with an AR pistol. The yard to the property was not lit and deputies stopped the foot pursuit as the subject disappeared into the dark back yard. I believed the male set up in a position of advantage if deputies would have pursued on foot.
Several subjects were outside the residence on the property. All subjects were detained for investigation. These subjects were not the male who was the driver of the vehicle. A perimeter was established. I observed at least one subject, who appeared to be a male wearing a baseball cap, looking out the front window on the east side of the property. One of the subjects stated to deputies the male had jumped the fence. The fence was a six foot sheet metal fence and would be difficult to jump over. Deputies would have also heard the subject jump the fence as it would have created a loud noise. It was believed the male had fled into the residence. The female passenger in the offending vehicle was detained without incident.
An inquiry of the VIN, to the vehicle the male was driving, returned as stolen through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). APD reported the vehicle stolen on 12/19/2023.
I spoke with the caller and he initially advised he did not call 911. After asking him follow up questions he then changed his story and advised he called about subjects that were in a white truck. He stated the truck had left "minutes" before deputies had arrived. Prior to my arrival I was at the intersection of Draxton and Atrisco for approximately five minutes and no white truck was observed leaving Draxton, which the only exit off Draxton is to Atrisco. I asked Patrick if he knew the driver of the car and he stated he only knew him by the moniker "Chapo". He advised the male did not live at the residence. The caller stated "Chapo" was a "a good guy" and he would allow for him to be inside his residence.
Deputies began a public announcements. One female exited the residence and was identified. She advised deputies that a male who was wearing black shorts had entered the residence and she did not know who he was.
I spoke with her and she advised me that the male who was driving the vehicle was Daniel Drake. Utilizing an old photograph in law enforcement databases, the found picture of Drake was similar to the subject I had observed in the vehicle. I showed the photo to her and she confirmed Drake was the driver.
Field Deputies were relieved by SWAT and violent crimes detectives were also notified.
While SWAT was on scene a male ran out of the residence and was detained. He was identified as Valentin Garcia. I observed a photograph through law enforcement databases and positively identified Valentin as the male who was driving the stolen vehicle that had intentionally rammed into my police vehicle.

He was arrested for running away from a half-way house before completing his sentence. He ran away again and was arrested by APD, then he was released on his on recognizance and failed to make his appearance. The police do a fine job of capturing these thugs but our system keeps letting them go. What's the point?

Being a judge is the best job in the world because unless you get caught doing something illegal, you can't get fired no matter how incompetent you are. This video is a perfect example of why you need to own a gun if you value your life. These officers literally had at least 3 opportunities to stop the clear and proven lethal threat but refused to take all of them out of fear for liberals, and also didn't pursue out of fear for their own bullet-proof-vested hearts. Then after all of that, the animal was let out on bond which predictably led to him not showing up to his court date, and because it was so predictable based on his running, the judge must have believed that breaking into other people's houses while fleeing from police is not a crime. Of course, the judge has never had to worry about such trivial poor people problems since he's lived his whole life in a posh gated community off the same trust fund money that paid for law school.
