I like your design... fish love cover. Darkness is less utilized... it's a unique design, but very common in nature. Every once in a while you see something new which makes sense and it keeps you looking. Thanks for your interpretation of observation.

I think that is a great looking scape.. You were 1 of my very early subscriptions, years ago. Glad to see a video and take a look at what you helped my tank become.. Best to you !

Fantastic video. Your sounds was miles better. Fixed really the biggest problem of your videos. The tank looks awesome. The use of lights and shadows really makes the tank work.

Working on the sound. I bought some wireless lav mics... apparently, I need a another cable to make them work with the iPhone 11.

Nicely done Ted. Can't wait to see it with the new spot lights and fish. You've got a little piece of the Amazon there.

Hi, impatient to see led spot effect. If I may share a suggestion, the second overflow on the right when you're looking from outside the tank, the one direct to the sump, I would replace it with T connexion, one way to the surface, the other one going to bottom of tank. Looking at the tank from front, on the left there fake drift wood right? You could hide vertical tubing there. The idea? Grab a bit from the bottom of the tank. These overflows are nice looking and make mirror water surface, but not actually efficient to take waste floating closed to bottom... ;-)

True that surface skimmers do not pull as much from the bottom. I have not tried a tee like that before. I may give it a go.

I absolutely love the dramatic lighting, and know that it's going to look even more amazing when it's done with spot lights. I hope you're getting Kessils, or some other point(ish) source light, so you can get the caustic effects too. Imo, people have gotten strangely attached to trying to imitate the fluorescent fill lighting.

Love it! It really looks great. Lighting is cool.. wondering if we could use the water on the garden?
@TedsFishroom4 жыл бұрын
I know people who pipe their aquarium waste water out to gardens. It would be tough in my case because the tank is in the basement. I would need a very powerful pump.
@Loogiemistress4 жыл бұрын
Ohhh I see now, of course the basement! We don’t have those here in Oz wish we did though :)

generic question for all overflow style tanks..... How to you get the fish waste UP to the intake when it will all naturally sink? I know wave makers etc can stir things up but still seems like it is inevitable that a lot of the waste may never make it to the intakes at the top.
@TedsFishroom4 жыл бұрын
Yep... that is an issue. I use a circulation pump that keeps the bottom churned up to a point, but there are always dead spots. I vacuum those out when I clean the tank.

Have you thought about using gobos in front of your spotlights? They are very good so you don't get a set of uniform (identical) light beams. I've used some for a few rainforest exhibits I set up. This place has a very good selection. I don't know the size of your spots but I'm sure they'll have a diameter that suits. ( Oops! Gobos are stainless steel stencils that disrupt the light into patterns, from a dappled forest floor to actual text , depending on the fitting. A dappled effect with a few strong beams is what you're going for?) www.apollodesign.net/catalogsearch/result/?q=leaves

I had not! But that is a really cool idea. Maybe even a small motorize rotator that would create cloud passage or tree canopy movement shadows. Something to think about.
@graphite27864 жыл бұрын
@@TedsFishroom You can actually buy small lighting rigs that do that. It's a fun idea, not very practical, but it would certainly make the tank unique.
