Thanks to your channel, we took the plunge and hired a boat last weekend. Our first time. Great, great fun. And then they closed the system to hire boats, just after we handed her back. It IS quite tiring though, but satisfying.

Glad you enjoyed it, though yeah we can’t really convey just how tiring it can be! Also glad you got it in before the canals snapped shut! Stay safe! M

I bet you’re glad to have three months of footage in the can as nobody is going anywhere for a while. I was due to retire next week and head off on a six month trip on my boat so I guess I’ll just have to travel vicariously with you. Stay safe.
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
Man, sorry that trip is delayed. Hopefully we’ll have some more vicarious life for you soon. We didn’t move that much the last few months due to the floods and storms and some uncooperative tides, but hopefully the footage lasts through the bulk of this. M

Hi guys, hope it is all going well for the 3 of you. That was interesting seeing all of that infrastructure still there even after the industry had faded away by then. I do hope that signage gets clarified and updated. You were quite right to feel that normal "Winter" conditions applied. How did you find out that something was awry with your plans?
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
We’ve had various plans go awry recently, and found out by a wide variety of means... I’m kind of losing track of which means matches which awry. M

@@MinimalList sorry for not being clear. That signage that said 48 hours. How did you find out that the normal "Winter" mooring conditions didn't apply? Did the Marina speak to you? You ask at the Marina? Another narrowboater let you know?

Short but sweet, Lived just across the border in Chesterfield for 18 years and never realised the canal ran right into the centre of Sheffield. When we're finally allowed out I'll have to have a trip down there. Stay safe, looking forward to seeing where your heading off to next.

When you’re allowed do take the trip! It’s quite a nice little terminal basin, but doesn’t get nearly the foot traffic it deserves, and businesses there could definitely use the boost! M

Like number #671 and a comment. Hope all is well with you guys. Getting more crazy here in Ohio. Still OK and plodding along here. Pretty well stocked up on everything I thought we would need for 60 days. I even broke a few personal items out of the vault and made sure they were operational. I also stocked up on supplies for those items. Ironically I was going to do that anyways. With Spring coming soon, a bit of target practice and skeet shooting sounded fun. Now, who knows? Glad I stocked up on everything. P.S. Sadie says she has plenty of food, supplements, and treats to last her into mid summer! We also have plenty of fuel to supply the equipment here for a few months. Sadie won't be going without her Gator runs across the farm.
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
Stay safe you guys. I doubt you’ll need those particular supplies - sadly, can’t shoot a virus not of the zombie variety - but at least you’ll have some food if need be. M
@derbuckeyetribe97894 жыл бұрын
@@MinimalList Those supplies will most likely get used for skeet practice, but it's good to have them just in case. 👍 My mom was an RN. Growing up she and her boss taught me all about germs (B&V both). So I'm not too worried about that per se. She also taught me about the safe use of firearms. Stay safe and healthy, we're looking forward to more great content. If I had the cameras, I'd start shooting Sadie's adventure here on the farm

Thanks guys happy new year, if only we knew, but hey we have to make the most of it. Watched Michael's other vlog. Looks like the second test is coming as soon as they know it works. I just wonder how many people will have had this thing without knowing. Hope you are all ok, I'm really sorry but I pinched two screen shots from your Sheffield navigation for a vlog that I made for parents home schooling their own children, I needed an example of a navigation, I sent you a message to ask but I don't think it got through to you, I credited them to you at the end and made them look different I hope that was ok, I'm trying to make myself useful to people whilst locked down. I have to be careful as I have had pneumonia before and leptospirosis last year which was really bad. I always have to have a flu jab each year so I am keeping right out the way. Take very great care you three. Thanks for the vlogs. Alan x
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry at all about using the screen shots, thanks for the credit, and for letting us know. And yeah, the antibody tests are starting to come online, though there’s still a lot of work to do to verify them against the real population... once they do it should give us a much better picture, though the confirmed case count will skyrocket. As long as it rises out of proportion to the death rate, however, that’s effectively a good thing. Please do your best to stay safe! M

I realise you closed the comments on it for a reason but Michael your video on geno and immunology is easier to understand than most of what is being said out there as such I sent it to my mum who has mental health issues as a way I hoped she would understand more about the current virus and also about the testing and why she can't just rock up and a hospital and get a test. And by God it worked and she has finally come round to the thinking that she doesn't yet require 1 so I just wanted and it has helped her mental health no end . And I just wanted to say a huge thank you for that.

Happy New Year folks. It seems that your last few videos have had you in a hurry to get from some place to another due to closures, weather or something or other. Is this a function of it being seasonal. If so when does boating get back to normal? Seems quite a bit more stressful this time of year despite there being less traffic.
@MinimalList4 жыл бұрын
It’s mainly a function of the seasons, yeah... it s why most people (even CCs like us) move into marinas for the winter. Stoppages can be really hard to work around, movement can be harder, and there’s things like flooding to worry about. Things start to lighten up again every year beginning in March. Though for some blasted fool reason they scheduled a pandemic this year! M

Following a meeting of the international board of governors, it is announced that 2020 has been officially cancelled after wheezing, sputtering and ultimately failing to start correctly. Accordingly, the board has declared that 2021 will begin on April 1. You will receive full credit for your accomplishments in these first few, faltering months. We look forward to a bright new year, free of the anxieties and distasteful personalities that encumbered the launch of 2020.
