In this video, I make a SSQA conversion for my mini excavator KX040, so I can use a log grapple otherwise used with my tractor. I'll get a good use of it with pallet forks also.
My hydraulic quick connect on my KX040 is made by Atelier Tétrault-Théberge, a local company. So I bought the "ears" from them, so I save myself a lot of time to replicate the conecting ears.

It is a fantastic idea to make the adapter, that is really useful. You made a great job of it and it seems to work really well. You are ten steps ahead of us, we have not made the SSQA for our one of our tractors yet.

Impressive work Joe, well done! I can well imagine it take a bit of practice to make that operate smoother. After all, now you have to do the work opposite to how you would normally use it as an excavator.

Exactly! You know your stuff Reg! That is very counterintuitive, to begin with. Then beyond that, the way the grapple can be used efficiently is different from a clamp on a log trailer. I've found the best way is to grab the logs from the side/bottom of the pile first, pretty much like a tractor would do. Thanks!

That is a really nice feature. Mine is hydraulic on top of that. The dealer that sold that excavator to me did not even notice that detail! The quick is made locally too, so I can get parts for it quickly.

Lol! Most of the brain farts are behind me now. Using the attachment on the opposite side the boom is reversed compared to a bucket... Takes some time to get the brain to adjust to that reality! Thanks!
