The two locomotives in the original (1964) run were Sir William A Stanier FRS and Sir Nigel Gresley. How very apt. Tragically the former was scrapped very shortly afterwards...

Looking again, one would think that for the moment when the No9 passed, the train indicator would have been removed from the Duchess's smokebox door… It looks awful.

A great video! I'm off behind the duchess next month to Carlisle. I was wondering if I could get a tip off, how are your shots so stable when travelling at high speed? Usually I can't keep my video camera still when on a high speed run. Jack.

I'm afraid it's mainly down to the camera, a Sony HDR-CX-730, not the cheapest of cameras around. Have a great day out with the Duchess.

AND the fact that you keep the zoom on ALL THE TIME. Your zoom adjuster needs to be soldered open. It looks as if the train is going through molasses ! Once in a while to show the loco closer while going around a curve is alright. Using it constantly is unnecessary and abusive. There is no sensation of speed !!
