Here's a 12 pound lidded jar video. I have learned this technique over the past 20 years starting with a video I saw 20 years ago of Waymon Cole throwing a two piece pot similarly to how you see me throw this lidded jar. I've sped it up 2x to help with the video duration. I hope you enjoy!

Do you score the lip before attaching the second half? Or just place on top and let the slip and weight attach it?

Your work is just awesome! I would like more commentary and show how you hold your hands inside to shape. I don't care how long your video is because it's so educational. I'll watch! Thank you.

The double speed had me constantly on edge of my seat- TOO FAST!! oh wait, its 2x speed. Impressive size for 12 lbs. I would have stayed for the 25 minute version. More shots of how you're using your inside hand would be educational. BTW.. where's the lid? and the finished piece. Moar vids!

Thanks for the comments. I'll upload the full video in case anyone cares to see. It would be a bit difficult to video my inside hand but maybe I can work that out eventually. Doing multiple angles is tricky as well since I have to stop in the middle to reposition the camera. I know it makes for more educational and entertaining footage though. I'm working on more videos. They will be out soon. Cheers!

No need to reposition camera, just pull your hand out and show how/where you're pushing from inside. Looking forward to more videos!

No music would be better even with just background sounds. I would also like to know how you went about finishing it.

Background sounds at 2x speed would be pretty interesting to hear. Probably sound like chipmunks and a high pitch whine from my wheel. Haha. Thanks for the input. That one was fired in a wood fired salt glaze kiln about 2 years ago. I’m working on making more detailed videos now than I used to. Cheers.

@@MatthewKellyPottery that is true I hadn't thought about that. I could also have muted the sound. Either way. Great work. I was wondering more about the handles and decorative work. Looking forward to seeing more.

at 74 I find my hands are not so steady nowadays and quite often my hand will cramp around the pot whilst throwing too, oh well< hehe. Maybe that's why my shaping comes from the trimming [is that cheating]?
