You never said what brand of shelves you are using, are these advancer shelves or something else. I bought a used kiln that has one black shelf, is Advancer the only one that makes black shelves? Thanks

All of your work is great & I learn a lot from you. My only preference would be to have a smooth floor of the interior. Then, in my opinion, it would match the refinement of the rest of the bowl. I also like the smooth, pleasing way the glaze displays there. The spiral always seems to me to be a cover for not spending the effort to refine the interior bottom. With all due respect.

This was just the video I needed to see! I have been playing with throwing hanging planters but was making them in two pieces and then joining them. I am excited to try this way!! Beautiful! Thank you!

thank you so much for the video! I have attempted to print my own labels from etsy multiple times now and each time i have done something wrong XD which package (box) option do you select when selecting that part of the shipping information? I use USPS priority flat rate medium cube boxes, but they only have small, medium and large USPS box options, so I wasnt sure which i should select. Thank you!

I was able to buy a full size (13.75" diameter) wheel from Walmart for around the same amount. I installed bat pins and have been using it for years with few problems (the only real problem is the foot pedal which sometimes needs adjusting.) I have used the more the expensive wheels and really don't see much difference.

Great video, as always, I'm trying this shape at the moment so this is perfect, had to laugh at myself, when you changed angle and your hair just got a little in the way, I found myself leaning to 'see' round your head, lol. Thanks for sharing the process 😮😊

Is it better for bowls to cool off stacked rim to rim?
@MatthewKellyPottery21 күн бұрын
I stack them rim to rim until I sand the bottoms so the glaze inside doesn’t get scratched by the bottom of the bow on top

I’m watching from Cooperstown NY, and can’t tear myself away! But your sound is cutting in and out, starting when you did the cute little piggy. I’ve backed up, but it just isn’t there! I’m hoping you might repeat some of those details for the piggy, and for the bowls with the daisy paddles inside. Love your stuff!

I use a metal rib for cutting off the hump. I wet the one side of the rib that im cutting with. then push in at the same undercut joint as in your video. once the rib cuts half way through it will be sitting on the rib. it makes for transferring the pot to another board easy. Just another thing to try if your intrested:)

Anyone have a problem with them sending a wheel that doesn’t plug into 110V in United States? They sent me a 180V wheel w a 220V plug. They are not replacing it but telling me to get a transformer. WtHeck. :(
@MatthewKellyPottery21 күн бұрын
I have not heard that. I’m sorry to hear about that and I was worried that these issues might happen with a company with little to no regulation and nothing that can be done to right the wrongs.
@katiakatiakat21 күн бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I have a feeling they just sent me the wrong machine and it’s not happening to others as I’ve seen good reviews on KZbin. Hoping they’ll send me a proper one for US.

I throw mini pots to test new glazes and glaze combos and it’s great to fit in between large pieces of pottery in the kiln. They sell really well.
@linzajchowski180327 күн бұрын
Thanks for always producing awesome, informative videos. One question is if you throw off the hump, you can't compress the bottom. Does that lead to s cracks?
@theshockzone27 күн бұрын
I had actually tried this last week but with a thicker cord type string. That didn't work well. I'm going to give fishing line a shot, that looks to work perfectly in your video.

Could you do that cutting technique with a large pot?
@RBCharger27 күн бұрын
I did this for Christmas presents one year. I didn't know about the fishline trick though, and had to sand some pots afterwards. Thanks.
@urlkrueger27 күн бұрын
Having a plan for a bunch of glaze testing I thought I would make up a whole S-load of little pots like this instead of using test tiles. What I found is that it was very hard to duplicate shapes. Slight differences in the amount of clay that you pull up off the hump makes a big difference in small pots. But for glaze testing I guess they don't have to be quite the same.
