Just wanted to tell you that I built the shelves per your instruction in this video and they are just great. Thanks for sharing your shelf design with us!

I have the exact same splitter, LOVE it. NOW you need a Swisher 4 way wedge which simply drops over the wedge, a REAL improvement.

Thanks for the tip. We have been looking to get a different wedge and that seems pretty ideal. No issues with it?

Works like a charm ! Just gotta be careful when retracting the wedge, don't let it hit those "ears" that dislodge a stuck log

Any issues with wearing out the pump with the 4-way? I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one, thanks!

@@davekana8388 I probably split more wood than any homeowner here, as I provide free firewood to the needy. Not all the wood is split using the four way wedge, as some of it has knots and forks. But, original pump is still going strong !!

Nice job I have the same splitter as you. After 2 years, I made my own log catcher like you but I added a metal strip on the edge because when the machine is running some of the pieces vibrate off and fall to the ground.

this inspires me to get a log splitter... Lol you can get a lot more done if you don't have to swing an maul! seems like it works. Nice build

In truth, an axe is still a lot faster, but a splitter is great for tough to split wood AND it allows you to split for a much longer time.

My son's buddy just got a 30 ton log splitter. We only had two holes in the main beam to work with. He drew up a bracket and then we cut two out on the CNC plasma table. Then a bend in the finger press on each, two bolts to hold it to the frame, and then a couple of 1/16"x1" straps welded across the brackets and it was done. Now the buddy wants my son to design and build a cable actuated lift. His buddy claims that he can't get a log 24" long and 24-36" diameter up on the splitter.

NICELY done! I experienced the same issue. I'm not gonna pay $69 PER cradle (TSC had a universal-fit "questionable-quality" cradle). I watched your vid and followed your design idea. Using some scrap that I had on hand, I completed the build for about $10 for BOTH sides. Way better quality, plus the satisfaction of a successful DIY. My sincerest thanks to you, sir.

I was going to suggest building a hopper to automate it somewhat but it would be way too complicated and probably not work very well haha. The tables look great though. I'd love to come make a video of your farm!

@rottiejakeluke

Would you be willing to build a second set? If so could you make the larger cut so that it will stick out to as far as mid way distance where it will be midway through the wheel but not extend past it. I would gladly pay for materials, your time, and shipping to Colorado zip 80026. Thanks for your consideration.

Any reason why you just did not build your table like you did and then bolt it to the existing cross arm? I just made a table using your video, but instead of taking the cross bar off and attaching the table to the arms coming off the unit, I simple drilled into the table and put it in the holes on the cross bar. My modifications rarely work, and I did not get a chance to try it this afternoon, just wondering if you tried that and it was a fail for some reason? I guess will see tomorrow if mine is gonna work! Thanks for the inspiration and video!
@StIsidoresFarm
@StIsidoresFarm 5 жыл бұрын
No reason, other that the time it takes to drill through metal. Also, the additional height would put the tables slightly higher than the deck of the splitter, but even that wouldn't be a big deal. Seems your modification should work great. In any case, you'll be glad you did it - huge improvement on work efficiency! Happy splitting!

HEY! Isn't splitting wood in the shade, under a large beach umbrella, "cheating"??? HAHA, jk. Great build. I like the first picture that your showed of the $119 table for the log-splitter on Amazon...... it said "Log Splitter NOT Included" ;)
