Hi Jenkins, Thank you so much for reviewing my match! I'm sorry that I had to leave towards the end, I didn't expect you to review the match on the spot, otherwise I would've made sure I could stay and watch. And thank you to everyone in Twitch chat and the comments here for being so supportive! A little bit of background about my DOTA experience, I started playing in December 2023 and have never played any serious games before (unless you count Club Penguin). So I am still getting used to the mechanics and learning about the game in general. Thank you everyone for the feedback, I will take it all into account and use it towards reaching my next goal: getting to Herald III!

Honestly, i would play every single heroes versus easy bots, like 2 times each. So you both do: See what heroes you really like AND to actually see how they cast their abilities/their ranges on them so you can be prepared to face any lanes. You can also mess around in the jungle to learn pull timers/stack timers without you being a detriment to your lobby.

It's still just a videogame at the end of the day

No he wont. The game has overdetermined way to perform matchmaking. If you play at a level above what the game thinks you are, instead going toward your real mmr you get punished to 50% winrate by getting insanely stupid teammates "at the same" as your level or smurf opponents.

dota+ gives you the most common ward locations based on skill bracket, so it advises what players usually do and win

toad is actually a good player and does not belong in herald. dont worry about it toad. ive had a friend who was immortal with a placement on the leaderboard for 10 years and then valve decided he was herald rank when he re-calibrated. u will get ranked higher next time.

I was 4k support when I stopped playing 2.5 years ago. Came back to the game and calibrated to Crusader 1. I know I can play mid/carry and climb fast.. but it's so boring :( There's so much griefing, disconnecting, smurfs etc in lower ranks. A real gamble every game.

You guys are being nice to toad, but he had almost no impact on the outcome of this game. He's just along for the ride basically. Classic low mmr support mindset of just existing and wondering why you can't progress. Also classic low mmr mindset of submitting a winning replay and complaining about your teammate for the entire description. I hope Jenkins gave him so more useful advice on stream, and this is just an edited down video for youtube entertainment.

I mean, I find it hard to believe that someone can be herald unwillingly. It's a state of mind and they want to stay in there. It's not like most people who are stuck in archon or legend who tryhard but they're not good enough. It doesn't take much skill to leave herald or crusader at alll even I can do it... :/ Coaching to leave such a place is just a really fine attention bait..

This toad guy has also no impact He picks kotl with a wk which is bad because you can't enable wk to get kills early (if wk was decent to begin with) He doesn't even harass the enemy just walk in and tank silencer giving him more temporary dmg If you are this low experienced just pick easy supports to learn the basics of the game, like wd, ss, cm, ogre, etc... Supports that enable cores or can harass on their own

I would just focus on pulling creeps, making sure the waves go in your favour. If your carry still decides to autoattack everything and push the waves to go feed under their tower I would give up on trying to babysit them. Work on your itemisation, and don't be afraid to spend gold regen or items like infused raindrops against enemy supps like crystal maiden. MAGIC STICK IS THE BEST ITEM IN THE GAME TOO. Don't be someone with brown boots and a clarity in strat screen lol. Play some supports that can more easily progress into more damage (snapfire, hoodwink for example), but please don't start off the game as a pos4/5 and to play it like an extra core lol. I was like 65 mmr at my lowest point a few weeks and now I'm at 600 by simply working on the fundamentals.
