Impressive walk you did!! I learned mindful walking from Thich Nhat Hanh, whom I've heard you mention, and that's a very healing practice. Thich Nhat Hanh was a true Buddhist Master. In his teaching, the kindness and peace that he exuded can still be sensed. Places like Plum Village give me some hope for humanity. I love that they instruct people of all ages, especially the children. Oh, if we all learned mindfulness early!! And also critical thinking. We weren't taught HOW to think, but rather WHAT to think, or memorize.

This video did make a difference to me! I think you cleared up for me the concept and i also enjoyed how you said "love those in you life so that they feel free", i think it like rly helped me understand. I also enjoyed your anecdote about the day long walk. And how you recounted the buddha saying of not being a better buddhist but being a better whatever you already are Thank you!

It is a very good exercise, just like Thay explains; walking meditation ! Just, I cannot walk that long anymore ! I do walk and cykle every Day - always have - now I do it without a goal ! But You are now reminding me about all things must pass, I shall do it more every Day! I am 70, and attached to my feeling lonely, living alone not having any family or friends ! It truly can be very difficult fex today to believe in "all things must pass", because I get so sad being here every Day, not having anyone to talk to ! How can I get nonattached to that fact ???

I landed here through a search for 'detachment'. I thank you for passing on this ancient wisdom; I'd characterize this as a gift. I feel I have arrived at a point where I am aware of 'just going on'; if an attachment remains it is an attachment to the idea that I want people to feel that they can be free to be themselves with me. I expect that promotes the most valuable suffering for me. Certainly, I do not have full awareness all the time, or that sometimes my awareness can be quite uncomfortable. Perhaps people have to go through all the struggle to attain, the pain of failure, the conviction that we must never let go of the hard won and most valued. Eventually though, release can come. This condition might be known to some Christians as 'the joy of the Lord'.

My mom is one of those people that just lives her life no matter what and has no cost for the consequences of things and it has driven me crazy for so long that It kind of attached itself to me and it’s causing me misery meanwhile she’s just fine but after listening to this I am learning the Law of in attachment and just accepting her and just letting go and loving her from a distance.

Great Podcast my friend! I am going to support! Thank you! 🌹The walking meditation resonates well. This is how I completed my Ruck Marches in the Air force, which were long walks with 25-50 pounds of equipment, in the heat, with no destination in sight. One-foot-in-front-of-the-other. I watched my feet take each step and became lost in the process. I keep hearing, "just keep going." I forgot I was walking in the sweltering heat. Soldiers were passing out in the march because it was hot, and the ambulance travelled behind taking the people, screaming medic! The meditation had me so engaged I didn't notice when we arrived to our destination. Walking meditations are a very good example of being in the here and now. Namaste to you! ❤️

I stumbled upon this speaking and with minutes had the insight of non attachment as being liken to the placenta of a newborn. Once the babe is born the need for the placenta is no longer and it detaches itself quickly and efficiently from that which it is no longer needed to nourish. Perfecto! Thank you!

After reading a book about mindful parenting for my work, I went to bed reminiscing about my own childhood and family with a hint of sadness to it. I woke up from sad dream with tears rolling down my face. And that led me to this, your vdo about non-attachment and also your other podcast episodes on Spotify. Your explanation is very easy to digest and it did help calm me down, the sadness is now not as intense and give me some clarification also. So thank you :)

I have been working on practicing non-attachment in a healthy way. It is easy for me to pull back and retreat, but I don't think that is the healthy path for me. To be in a loving relationship and detached, I think it has to do with my ability to let go of the outcomes I want to see happen. At least, that is as far as I have gotten up to now. :) Great podcast. Thank you so much for sharing.

Reality is that we can’t change or controll others ( influence is not the same as 100% controll). The ignorance of this « law» creates alot of suffering and madness. It’s important to train the mind to let go of trying to controll all things trancient. We must love others, but if they try to harm us or others, then it is the wise action to just let them go. Also learn to let go of the pain of letting them go. Let your mind reflect and greif for some time. Then stopp and go on with your life and your tasks guilt and shame free 🙏🏽🌅🌱

I've had to unattach from someone that goes from girl to girl giving them promises and can't follow through. He connected with someone else, and I've carried the raft for 8 months now and accept there is nothing more I can do than stop trying to be more than friends. It hurts but letting him go feels freeing for me as well.

In the teachings of the Buddha, wisdom does arise, Three characteristics, profound and wise. Let me weave them in verses, clear and true, Impermanence, suffering, and non-self, I'll share with you. Impermanence, the dance of life's embrace, Like shifting sands, it leaves no trace. From dawn to dusk, and season to season, All things change, without rhyme or reason. Flowers bloom, then fade away, As night turns to dawn, and day to gray. With every breath, moments fleet, Impermanence reminds us, life is sweet. Suffering, the noble truth we face, In trials and tribulations, we find our place. From physical pain to the ache within, Suffering weaves a thread, where all begin. Attachments bind, desires give birth, Yet suffering teaches, the depths of our worth. Through compassion's embrace, we find release, In understanding suffering, our hearts find peace. Non-self, the illusion of a separate "me", A profound teaching that sets us free. No fixed identity, no soul to claim, We're but a ripple in the cosmic game. Connected we are, in this grand tapestry, No separate self, just interdependency. Non-self reveals unity's sweet embrace, As we let go, we find our place. Impermanence, suffering, and non-self, In these teachings, the Buddha's wisdom dwells. Through understanding, compassion takes flight, Guiding us towards liberation's light. So let us contemplate these truths profound, In each moment's whisper, let their essence resound. With wisdom and love, let our hearts unfurl, Embracing impermanence, suffering, and non-self in this precious world.

Great Concepts. "What is the dust which obscures the mirror? It is attachment to the world, avarice, envy, love of luxury and comfort, haughtiness and self-desire; this is the dust which prevents reflection of the rays of the Sun of Reality in the mirror." ~ Abdu'l-Baha, Baha'i Faith

I experience an attatchment in my relationship, I am attatched to the idea of how I think the relationship should be (e.g to have regular intimacy and to meet this ideal I have in my head) and in a sence I feel that this owns me as I find my self very distressed when reality dosent meet this idea and I try to create situations in which it dose, I want to practice this idea of letting go of this and allowing my partner to be completely free in what she wants to do and I want to allow the relationship to be free to change and be how it is without trying to get it to stay a particular way. I feel like I understand attathment alot more after watching this video and I now understand it as a refusing to let go something (an unacceptance of impermanance), I even found my self becoming attatched to this video and not wanting it to end 😅. Attatchment is a funny thing, great video

If our basic need are met anything beyond that is an attachment. Why own more than what we need? All of the spiritually advanced people throughout history lived very simply. It's hard to drive a Lambo and not get attached or to have an inflated ego from it.

@spiritualopportunism45854 жыл бұрын
This includes boredom for humans however and discipline in wisdom so as to not be influenced by vice in any form. But also however, the way I see fulfilling our boredom goes so as to be consistent with our release of endless, illusory suffering is to relinquish rewards as much and as safe as possible. I mention safety because we cannot be so naive as to think those around us whom don't practice won't exploit us or any avenue for that matter. If say we work a lot and are extremely frugal our families would plead or, frustrated enough attempt to rob us. We *must* dabble in the sin to fight against it, we must be contaminated with the virus to build immunity, we must have some ego if only as a means of defense, is at least my point of view. Very luckily however this mandatory "vice infection" ONLY consists of mere situational awareness, therefore acting appropriately and thinking ahead. There's internal and external suffering after all, be wise and intelligent.

I hope you can help me clarify this aspect

You have to learn to be happy on your own witbout being in a relationship. Only when we can do that can we actually be in a relationship with another person without attachment.
@Annamelese6 жыл бұрын
Allen Morgan how can u be happy on your own? what are the steps to take?
@harambe81035 жыл бұрын
@@Annamelese 1.Learn to love who you are 2. Accept the only one's validation that matters is your own and the big guy up stairs if you believe so 3. Realize nothing is going to last for ever, This one hurts me because it hits home hard but you learn to love freer and stronger 4. Stop lying to your self, the only one that its going to hurt is you 5. Carry an honest relationship with all you meet, If you can be you from the get go and it works then even better if not then refer to rule #2 6. Do life for you, don't hold on to a life goal or a reason to life for another person that person may leave your life and then your stuck with nothing to live for and nothing to work towards

Interestigly enough, over the last few years, i've been trying to incorporate many of these spiritual principles in all of my affairs I found I have less and less desire to be in a '' relationship''. I am well surrounded with friends and have socia life to a certain extent. I am more and more hoping to meet a woman who lives on her own terms with these principles, witch will take an ''act of God'' to find in a city like Montreal ( keeping the faith though) And then there is also the subject of sexual needs, witch is an whole other topic and we don't have enough time today...hahaha.
