How important is a awning for you and how often do you use it?

Not important enough to spend over a grand on one :)

I just bought a Rapid wing 6 Deluxe are much researching. The quality of the awning is what swayed me to buy it. Not a expert in these things but I'm happy with it. Haven't used it as such, being in Victoria and still in lock down the only place it could try it out was the local footy field at the end of my street, got some practice opening and closing it. No buyers regrets, very happy.

I used them for a while now and it's a good honest Australian made product I also have no regret.

We have a supa peg rapid wing which is rebranded as a drifta rapid wing. We love it. We just got of two weeks on Fraser and compared to friends 180 it was comparable in speed to setup, the shade was far better than the cheaper poly-canvas blends in the cheaper awnings and also the coverage. We had a big thunderstorm hit us at Eli Creek everyone was under our awning. I really like the additional guy rope points between poles.

Great review. I have been searching for some time, have seen and mulled over many, and landed on supapeg. I have been torn between the rapid 6, and shield 6, with country of manufacture, weight v robustness, and $$$ being some concerns my biggies. I have been in contact with supapeg,(and tentworld) they have been very open and helpful. But, now, & thanking you for your review, I have settled on the rapid 6, Yep, liked and subscribed, cheers, Peter, [Sidetrack].

is it useful for a short roadside style stops? i.e do you need to put pegs into ground even for a short stop?

I think size wise it's a overkill for a short road side stop, any pole awning you should peg down somehow while it would be fine without if there is no wind.

I love their pegs, particularly the short thick ones for hard ground. how do you dry out the awnings that are permanently on your vehicles? when you park up and the canvas is still wet?
@AlloffroadAu3 жыл бұрын
If I pack in wet I put awning back up first opportunity to dry out.

@@AlloffroadAu how long do you think the canvas would go ( before its damaged with mould etc) if you don't dry it out, if the vehicle is a daily driver

@@placestosea after it was property soaked? I would dry it within 24-48h, though the Canvas has an anti-mould treatment. I also recommend quick disconnects allows you to take awning quickly on and off if you don't use it.

Have had mine for 3years, great awnings apart from the stupid plastic guy rope buckles... And the fact they they leak water through the hinge and then along the ridge poles onto your head? Spoke to Supapeg and they say it's impossible to seal this area on the wraparound awnings? Not sure I believe them.
@AlloffroadAu3 жыл бұрын
guy rope buckles for the webbing straps? I don't mind them want more of the webbings. I havent had the 270° in heavy rain yet will need to see, the Supapeg 2.5m x 2.5m never had a issue with leaking
@SteveBurns803 жыл бұрын
@@AlloffroadAu Yes, I found the buckles on the webbing straps are not great long term, have since swapped them out for the oztent guyropes. They only leak water on their wrap around awnings, because of the hinge point, not a big deal but can be very annoying.

hm can’t see how mine would leak but I guess I will find out. i usually use the extended flap for rear though so that covers that area.

I'm short listing between Rapid 4 and Rapid 6 for 2 of us, installing on Jeep Wrangler 4 door. Any opinion, or advice? :)
@AlloffroadAu3 жыл бұрын
6 is big and takes a little more effort to pack in but gives you great space, for a Jeep I probably would go with a 4. The 6 will cover the full front door though if that's important for you then better go with a 6.

@AlloffroadAu3 жыл бұрын
yes, the frame is, but still created Australian Job's as the assembly and fit-out is done in Australia. Unfortunately, no Australian made trailer in this class with anywhere near the price. Could not justify 60k for a Patriot for the few times I use it per year.
@christurner683 жыл бұрын
@@AlloffroadAu would buy a patriot either not just because of the price, that is a whole other issue. Agree on the jobs creation for fit out but the main structure made in China is the problem, and especially when that Chinese manufacture is making the same trailer for those other Chinese made Australian brands with different stickers….. the more this is talked about the better, out government has a lot to do with this and it is entirely a whole other topic. I have never done a paid review. Fortunately, I have the choice to review many products and awnings or just purchase what I prefer. Why would I have a product on my cars and trailers I'm not happy with, especially for the travel I do it would make zero sense. The reviews and product testing is a byproduct of my travelling, not the other way around.
