I was 10 years old when my dad past away. That was 45 years ago, and I still miss him. People always told me what a great man he was. I don't think they realize how much more that makes me miss him. I lost out on a great man. Thank you for sharing.

I wish I had those moments with my dad. We went camping a couple of times, but never hunting, fishing, or building anything. Our shooting was always at an indoor or out door gun range. Rhett will come to cherish these times with his dad, that's for sure. You're both lucky to have the relationship y'all have. Enjoy it as long as you can.

I've watched a few of these Red Poppy Ranch videos and I like them. Informative, personal and educational in more ways than one. The dog seems really happy when Red is in the picture, and I think Red and dad are relishing the best of their relationship. I know, I know, it's about the building of the home site, and information on how to do it. It wouldn't be a complete home without family, and dad deserves a slap on the back and a great big, Good Job Big Daddy! Atta Boy!

Great video! Since my Dad passed last year I have come to realize the exact same things that you state here. As a kid growing up, I thought that I knew everything. Later I realized that he knew much much more than I will ever know! He taught me a lot, and in his last years he taught me so much more. I miss him every day and find myself wishing that I could ask him about things! Respect your parents if you still have the gift of their presence.

WOW! It's as if my Dad led me to this video today, the day after Father's Day and two days after his birthday, may he rest in peace. He moved us from the city of Sacramento to a ranch in Wilton, when I was 11, and to this day, I find myself always wishing a return to those days of doing with him exactly what you are doing with your son. Thank you so much for sharing and please share this annually on Father's Day. Que Dios les bendiga! Gracias!

I always enjoy your videos. I still love the time I get to spend with my Dad. He's a machinist by trade but has So many other skills it's mind boggling. I can say that I'm the man I am now because of him and to an extent my grandfather (mother's side). Sometimes I find myself thinking about the day he will eventually pass (not a pleasant thought) but I try to spend as much time as possible with the old man. Cherish the time you have, teach your children what you've learned they'll thank you for it later in life.

You are a great story teller! There is a talent in that. I appreciate your reflection on your Dad and that relationship. I am he oldest of 3 sons, and my Dad worked all the time to provide for his family. Looking back I realize how special it was to be the first son, as I got to spend time "hanging around" him when he was home just watching him and learning. We lost our Mom to cancer in 2005 and lost my Dad in 2015. It was amazing how our relationship grew as I was an adult with my own children, and the additional time we got to spend together after Mom passed. In his remaining years we talked (even if for only a few minutes) everyday just to "check in" with each other. Tears in my eyes now wishing I could hear him answer "Hello Son" one more time. Cherish your family and the time you have with them, teach them and keep them close to God, for time really is short and it goes so much faster than we are realize. Blessings to you and your family. May the Lord watch over you and keep you safe.

That narrative really touched me. It brought back memories of me and my son. I wanted to teach him all I knew from what I have gained through the years. He got fussy from being the gopher at one point, so I started letting him do stuff where i was the gopher. To this day I am proud of him being able to fix and repair things. I still have knowledge that amazes him and he sees the value of what a father can pass on to his son. Thank you so much for sharing that.

It just reminds me of how thankful I can be to have the same feelings towards my Dad as you. Especially the times when we renovated our home (from the 1900s) and we spent much time together working, are the times I have the best memories about. I always love coming home and talk with him about all the stuff we have done threw the years! I'm so excited for you to get this done and get to the move in! One of the best videos you did in my opinion was this one. You talked about your Dad and your Son and the importance of them both in this build. I feel a lot of Dads miss big and maybe even small opportunities to work with their sons or daughters that are very important in building memories. I'm sure your son will have great memories of not only being with you but in the work he put into your families home. Thank you for showing and talking about this. I remember my first dirtbike. Can't ride it in the city, but around the new ranch would be good. You might get more help available too.

Nice to spend time with you kids one on one - lost my mother 2 years ago and we would do things together just because we could and it didn't really matter what it was - I really enjoy your vlogs - waiting for the spring to arrive here in New Zealand it keeps arriving then going away again.
