Thank you for the excellent guest and the fine topic. When I built my 300 WSM, I ordered a barrel with a 1:8 twist. But I also got him to put a .300in free bore. I am able to run the 210 berger with the heel of the bullet right at the shoulder to neck junction. Problem solved and not having an old Saami spec'd chamber and I just load the gun one round at a time with a solid bottom savage 12 action. This was really a great discussion. Thank you!

I love the Barnes TTSX bullets, they group extremely well and are usually easy to find a load for. The E-Tip are a little more picky but I use them also.

Enjoyed video and guest. I have had great results loading monolithic bullets. Excellent velocity and hunting results. Hammer Hunters are my “go to” mono but still shooting Nosler AB’s. I also shoot Barnes TTSX. I’m fortunate to harvest 6-7 deer each year and experiment with a few bullets. I develop loads for my rifles and harvest all my game with handloads. I save more than a few pounds of meat using monos. But realistically, it’s primarily bullet placement. Thanks

Enjoyed the video!!! Stabilizing a heavier bullet in 270WSM is super interesting. It sort of confirms the firearms industry would rather just build a new caliber and sell new guns rather than improve on an existing caliber. As a skeptical person, it makes me not want to take chances on new calibers like 6.8Western given they'll probably be abandoned by manufacturers to become extinct cartridges sooner rather than later.

Do you think the gun industry is trying to pull a fast one on us? Looks like I need to buy the 131 Berger bullets for my 257 WBY.

🤠 GREAT VIDEO! If the 165 grain Nosler ABLR will shoot in my 270 Winchester rifle, I will be buying a whole lot of bullets from them! That is a perfect weight bullet for elk! 🦌 Right now, I am using their 150 grain Nosler ABLR bullets for elk! 🙂

🤠 I have been asking Nosler for a new 160 grain bullet for a while now, for my 270 Winchester! I am thinking that Winchester was thinking that by bringing out the 6.8 Western, that they could get around the legal settlement regarding the 270 wsm? But, the real good news is that if the 165 grain Nosler ABLR bullets will stabalize in my 270 Winchester, then so will the 155 grain Federal Terminal Accent bullets (Another Great Hunting Bullet)! And that makes me Very Happy! 😃

I realize I'm really late chiming in, but regarding the comment about the LRX being inaccurate in some guns, there was a recent video made by Backfire, who quoted Ron Spomer, and called him during the video - and he actually showed how cleaning the barrel after having fired bullets that were not monolithic, down to bare steel, and he saw great results. It seems like it has something to do with how the monolithic bullet might stick to the fouling a bit in the barrel, presumably causing it to not obtain a perfectly stable flight. It could be the powder load, it could be the barrel length, or the rifling, but anyway. It is something to think about.

I've hunted a lot with Savage 10/110 in 300 WSM... Bullet of choice is the 168gr Barnes TTSX @ 3100. Shot good with W760, federal magnum primers and Winchester brass. The 130gr Barnes is an interesting bullet... I really like the idea of getting 3500 fps plus outta the 300 WSM. LASER BEAM STATUS

🤑 The 155 grain Terminal Accent bullet is the same length as the 165 grain Nosler ABLR bullets! So, if one will stabalize, then they both will! 😱 And that would make for some great "Elk Medicine"! 🦌☠

☹ Jess, I am having the same problem with my favorite elk bullet, the Swift A-Frame! I haven't seen it on the shelf for my caliber in 3 years (only the Swift Sirocco II bullets, which I purchased)! Luckly, we have lots of good choices (especially when it comes to my caliber) and my gun really likes the 150 grain Nosler ABLR bullets! 🥳 So, I am really excited to try the 165 grain Nosler ABLR bullets too! That would be a fine bullet selection when I am hunting the more heavily timbered areas! I am planning to give that 30-06 to my nephew anyway, so that would fill in nicely for any of my future hunting plans/needs on bigger animals! 🙂 Then, I am looking at purchasing my first 7mm too! So, that will be a "good gift" to myself! 🎁

🕵️♂️ Jess, I know you were asking about Sakos, so here are some cool new products from Shot Show regarding Beretta: 1.) The Beretta's BRX allows you an "ambidextrous rifle", to switch the gun from a right to a left handed model, in about 30 seconds (or less)! 2.) Sako (in their 100 explorer model) and CZ both allow you to switch out the barrel (without changing the rifles point of impact or having to remount the scope) yourself (and can be done in only a couple of minutes)! So, now, with the purchase of - a new barrel, magazine, and bolt - you can shoot any caliber that you want (from a 308 to a 375) without having to take your gun to a Gunsmith and re-chambering anything! 🤯 3.) Both Sako (Aquateck coating) and Lupo (one of the other Beretta Companies, with a different coating process) are guaranteeing a rust free and wear free gun! Lupo for 25 years and Sako for a Lifetime! 🙂 This is a step up from Cerakote and will still allow you to have a "Blued" gun look, if you want? 😃

Those Sierra Match Kings work great for Whitetail deer. I’ve killed so many deer with a .243 shooting 80 grain match kings at about 2850 fps. I know they’re not made for that but they work. My dad shoots a.300 Weatherby Mag. with 190 grain match kings at 3100fps and they don’t fail to put meat on the ground. The Nosler ballistic tip 150 grain is what I use in my 30-06 at about 2880 fps. With those you’re hard pressed to find what’s left of the deer’s heart.

The stability factor is below 1.0 ,,berger recommend 1.4 or above to be properly stabilized..It can work in warm weather at low altitude if you have a muzzle velocity above 3000fps ,but in a cold day the bullet can go sideways

The answer is simple- the shooter is running over 2750 fps at least with a max load of powder.. At least some of the high velocity is most likely due to the sharp shoulder.. The chamber pressure of the 270 wsm is the same as the regular 270 winchester.. So there is that.. The problem here is that like the rest of the gun culture ,' so called gun writers,' these two guys have checked their critical thinking skills at the door because they are politically conservative.. Catch a clue a guys go to school best Bruce Peek
