Lion Dance performance standard is getting higher every year. The guys jump from pole to pole easily. They must have practiced very hard for this.

I noticed that some of their team mates will run towards the stilts just before or when the lion is mounts the stilts. Is that to 'standby' in case they fall? Just curious..

I had to attend a function that evening and my friend helped me record the competition. I was there recording with my iPhone and left after the 1st performance. Were you there during the 1st performance?

I admired the performance of these hardwork but I am puzzled that these performers of cymbal and drum. Their pattern of displaying and shouting with actions exhibited a clear CLOWNS of themselves !!???!!!! I prefer the original culture of lion dance …

This competition awards points for originality, so the teams try to stand out from the rest. It's quite refreshing to see the teams dressing up as Shanghai gangsters, coolies, warriors, prawns, school boys/girls etc.
