28-08-22 - Slight Side - Scafell - Scafell Pike

Here's my latest video of a big walk up to England's highest peak - Scafell Pike. I decided to do the longer walk to the summit by taking in Burnmoor Tarn and walking on to Eskdale. From there we climbed up to Slight Side, then onto Scafell, before descending to Foxes Tarn and up to Scafell Pike.

Good to see you hitting 150 Mal, very well done and deserved. Great day for a hike and nice quiet path as well you too. Last time I hiked from there to Scafell I started at 07.30 and it was still packed when I got to the top! The tarn looked great and very relaxing place but did not like the sound of boggy walking, if has been none stop here for the last 4 days now. The drop off Foxes Rack looked pretty sketchy mind and no wonder Diz was unimpressed. The summit of Scafell Pike looked very quiet, just as well after a 14 mile hike - you did deserve it, cheers Alan

I'd done this walk once before, but didn't go all the way to Eskdale, just went up the side of Scafell. It's a very long walk before you even start any serious climbing, and the bog really slowed me down. The Foxes Rake section isn't that long, but took ages as it's so tricky. I wouldn't recommend it if it's wet. Thanks for looking, Alan, it's always appreciated.

Great video, longing to see that summer sun again.. Do you think this walk would be any easier doing it the other way round to avoid those nasty descents?

Thanks for watching, Dave. I think the walk may well be a bit easier in reverse, you would get the nice long descent from Scafell. Take care.
