Absolutely love it...! This highlights the difference between casual hikers reading reviews about kit & thinking they know it all & well-acclimated people who actually have a wealth of real time experience & push kit to know what’s capable. Jealous...think I’m gonna have to take a train & then walk to the middle of nowhere soon. ATB .Wish.

Any Hilleberg tent is the equivalent of a 5-Star hotel out in the boonies, especially the Soulo. That is a massive job taking the Soulo down with all that snow/ice on everything. Your MicroSpikes I'd consider as "mandatory" equipment in the weather conditions & snow/ice covering the trail. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

I started off feeling a bit nervous watching this AL. First of all i was pleased to see you using 2 poles but then i was starting to get worried when it turned out that it was 2 blokes with 2 poles in a tiny tent and if you said that you had forgottten your sleeping bag as well i was going to turn it off ...i needn't have feared and it was a very good watch indeed 👌

Not my day for a daydream, but awesome. I tried that only once in 73, walking home through kneedeep and more snow and bad weather up the North steep slope of the Laber (1684mtrs) in Oberammergau. (Yes we lived up there) I was done for and a few days later in hospital for four weeks. I did some silly things when I was young.😅

Top Tip: When camping in those conditions, I would take a washing-up brush. This could be used to clear snow off the tent and your boots before entering the tent or when packing away! I learned that little trick from training in the Norwegian Arctic during winter exercises. Part of the issued kit.

This was diferent for 4 reasons : 1) Each guyline had it's own peg 2) Was pitched with the side into the wind as if he expected you to turn up with just a bivvy. 3) Camping inthe worst weather with a Soulo RL instead of a Soulo BL. 4) No dog Great advert for a Soulo, your friend should become a hilleberg ambassador. Bet it is alot quicker taking down and packing away your tunnel with half the guylines. What is the reason for bringing the foam mat, is the air mat not good enough?

@azclaimjumper I had been using the Abisko Lite 1 but it suffered a couple of tears, and it is too low so my videos all have me hunched over! The Soulo feels light years ahead. I am fine with a bit of condensation so long as I am warm.

@philsmith244441 минут бұрын
@@littlegrandadoutdoors I have a USGI Gore-Tex bivy that works great but it’s as heavy as my 2P4S tent (way heavier than my 1P3Ss) and there’s not a lot of room for a pad and lofty bag. Right zip bags are harder to find, too. It’ll shrug off stuff that’ll shred the tent, though. But being unable to go the whole night without peeing at least once means I take the tent in winter.
