Coronavirus brought me back here. Literally everything they say here is relatable to this epidemic right now. “I don’t think we’re ever far from the next pandemic” has always stuck with me. And the way the virus has taken over Italy, and now nearly 500 cases atm in the UK, I can’t stop thinking about what Selena said in the film: “First it was on the television, then It was on the streets and it was coming through your window”. Another quote to point out is at 7:14. As I wrote this comment, the music in this video is very haunting to listen to.

The movie turns 20 today! Missed it in theaters but caught it later on dvd Made $84.6 million being one of the best British horror films My first introduction to director Danny Boyle re-inventing the zombie genre Also introduced me to Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, and Brendan Gleeson The movie still ends up being pretty scary given today’s current concern with the coronavirus affecting much of our populace Great suspense mixed with gore This presents an eerily realistic portrayal of a worldwide apocalypse being so terrifying seeing public streets empty with no one in sight You get the feeling of dread, despair, and loneliness If the look of it seems off-putting that's because it was intentional to give a grimy aesthetic grittiness John Murphy's score is classic being techno and part piano with electric guitar It’s scary also being a sharp political allegory for capturing how infrastructure and society can collapse just as quickly as social order when all that remains is paranoia and uncertainty Terrific low-budget storytelling for horror as well as zombie fans

This feature was really mind-blowing for me! I had always thought the rage virus was a ham-fisted metaphor for the actual rage that drives people to violence and often seems to be contagious, so it was quite a surprise to learn that it was all meant to be taken literally. It doesn't make the film any less impactful/poignant for me but it strikes me as a particularly interesting case of not knowing what someone is trying to say until they actually explain it to you. Plus it is kinda funny to find out that "it's really not that deep bro"

Just read the screenplay for both films, and yes by God is Alex Garland such a good writer. Too bad they had to cut some things, but other wise it's exactly like the movie. Where as the screenplay for 28 Weeks is so so so different from the movie. It's a completely different story and further evolves the virus. There characters that dont appear in the movie but are important in the script, or the other way around, mayor characters from the film not in the script. Btw, the comics are good too. One of them show how the outbreak occured, another birdges the gap between both mpvies. Honestly if you're a fan of the movies do yourself a favor, read the scripts and the comics.

What did they cut?
@roberthipolito13514 жыл бұрын
@@InnocentRain562 for example the virus has become airborne and that hoe the 2nd outbreak occurs, which is revealed as a plot twist at the end and Andy (Danny in the script) begins to turn while on the chopter heading to France. The sniper shoot out scene nir the choper cutting heads is inthe acript, but there's a lot more smaller moments of action and suspense. The opening scene is a group of survivors beging chased by infected, they get in a boat to cross the channel only to end up gunned down by a US fighterjet. All infection and death scenes are much more brutal, like no kidding very explicit. Doyle is actually an merc ex SAS, he becomes an infected. Towards rhe end there are some really cool scenes. The survivors come across group of US soldiers that are looting all they can from some historic building, aka "asset protection" lol. Then as the make a run for an airport/airbase in Humvees, they get overrun, manage to get to the airport. The plot twist is revealedl. And it turns out a bunch of soldiers were still active and trying to escape, but there's only one helicopter left. They desperately make a final stand, it fails. Oh and my favorite character by far was Stone (in the movie he's the general, in the script a scientist of the IID), and he aint kidding with his job. He does everything he can to prevent infection. He discovers that it became airbourne, and when he realuzes he tii has the symptoms he shoits himself. He's like a Selina from the 1st movie, but rather focused on his own survival he is focused on preventing the virus from escaping.

People in the comments complaining that this feels like a documentary on viruses. The film is a warning on things like this. Sars-2 (the real name for it in records) wasn't zombie or rage-inducing, but the world fell apart for some time because of it. These movies are warnings on it. Of course the making-of is going to be all about it - that was the point of the film.

There is currently no virus or other type of disease that will result in hordes of brain-dead husk hunting you down. There are absolutely diseases that will destroy the human mind and turn people into shambling husks of their former selves, some may even make people violent (like rabies) but they are relatively rare and don’t pose too much of a pandemic level threat in areas with a developed medical system. Some drugs can also cause these symptoms too. Neither drugs nor known diseases are likely to lead to hordes of infected though, as the aggression will be aimed at everyone else, including fellow infected. Though there is the possibility of mass psychogenic illness (MPI) convincing a large group of people that they are zombies is also a possibility, but only a slim one (for a similar examples of this look up the “dancing plague” or Tanganyika’s “laughter epidemic”).MPI is more common in times of local crisis, and with global warming, rising sea levels, and vast desertification of the world, one shouldn’t be too surprised to if more cases of MPI start appearing. Finally the technology to completely engineering such a disease is still likely many decades out, as we know far too little about both the human brain and genetic engineering to creat such a complex disease or bioweapon. TLDR: the chances of a zombie apocalypse are higher than you would think, but still pretty low. You should be more worried by things like boring worldwide pandemics (like Ebola or Covid) and global warming.
