Hi Karen thanks for sharing your location and passion for DIY. I have been to NYC and Connecticut around 30 years ago! but not Hudson Valley. It looks like you have some wonderful trees and nature in your area and the benefit of seeing it in all four seasons. Me too I like watching women in DIY (and guys too) I enjoy seeing the transformation and the different ideas.

Ah Portugal!!! I often check out the property web sites with little farms for sale in the north if I need a little daydream. Seems affordable and good friendly people as well. I'd love to visit but its a long drive (I prefer not to fly). Maybe next winter if the cabin is finished we'll come and spend some time there. Which part of the country are you in?

I love the coastal path at Bandol. We stayed there last year and I fell completely under its spell the trees are so beautiful and the light early morning is so alive. We went back this year because I really wanted to experience it again. And the nature park Sainte Baume also beautiful. Are you from there or did you move there?

Ah well you know all the best walking spots then! We really enjoy that region in January to escape the freezing Burgundy weather. France is so varied you can see all sorts of scenery without taking an airplane we are lucky to be here I think 👍

@@katybuilds Not exactly but not far from your cottage: a quiet little place in nature with a beautiful view ( very hard to find in my region but still looking for; "l'espoir fait vivre!") PS: nice tiles in Dijon; did you find some inspiration?

I tried to buy some beautiful second hand old provençale green tiles on Leboncoin but they sold this morning 😭 so I am going to keep looking. I found a handmade ceramic sink that I love but can't find a good colour match for the tiles. I had a nice time shopping anyway I like to get inspired in the big shops and then I look to see what I can find second hand.

Sometimes I put an alert when I'm really looking for something ( a piece of land with a little house on it for example and even then I rarely have the opportunity to visit 😢). The sink is an interesting found, it's not white? Second hand is cool, and we are lucky to have Le bon coin ! (my sister in law doesn't have anything like that in Barcelone...) You just need to be patient! (which is not my greatest quality!)

wow, this is how I always have wanted to live, looking out at an Ocean, beutiful place. So relaxing listen to the waves and look at the water. Is tthat where you live? Must be satisfying to now starting at the inside? I am a norwegian, living in Sweden after I was retired ten years ago. I have a small house in a protecterd wood. My priority was to make a garden, and I have, put a LOT of money in it, but I am now soon moving closer to Norway, an not a house, but a type of flat with a small garden spot, I hope. I am 77 so I am fed up of all the repairs on this house and property, a LOT of money goes into it. The first I did, was to make a pond, I have Goldfish there. I have a quarter of an acre land and that is perfect. I have a greenhouse too. Here was not much when I came here. So the second was to fence in my whole land, a lot of deer and rabits and other animals that love a garden. So no longer any big planes for this land. I want to travel more.

hi Kastah no it was a holiday rental apartment. The view is amazing we try to rent a place with a sea view because its so different to where we. We live in the Morvan nature park in Burgundy, we live near to the cabin. The beginning footage is a little trip to the south of France. It would be great to have an apartment like that for sure but its a lot of money to buy one. I agree a big property is a lot of work and money. And sometimes its just time to move on and try a new place. Your move sounds interesting and like a good plan. A small garden always shows off its plants nicely as well, each plant makes a big impact. Sounds like you have a good future strategy for sure. 🤞
