Unfortunately, my most recent experience in Qatar was wretched. Flying JFK-SIN Return in Qsuites, the lavatories were dirty and not maintained. Urine covered the floors, and one sink did not drain as you saw. The seats were quite good, all in all, on both the 777 and A350. I agree the rear-facing was more comfortable due to the reasons you stated. The food was merely average. The staff were, by and large, uninterested in good service and often seemed quite glum.

Great review. Longer travelling time but easier and great comfort. Next test will be Qantas or ANZ via Auckland. I’d still pick via Doha or Abu Dhabi. .

Man I can't imagine flying 14 hours on economy between Doha and JFK, must be very uncomfortable for sure while it has no bed. Great video man

Thanks for the vid! Would the 777 q-suite be your preferred choice over the A350 if both were rear facing?

Actually I would go for the A350 - it has a more up to date in flight entertainment system. The rear facing seats should be close to identical on both aircraft. Thanks for watching!

Do you get access to the Qantas lounge with the qatar business ticket or did you use frequent flyer status?

I used my Qantas status, but I seem to recall the staff saying as I entered that I didn't need to show my card because Qatar business passengers had access to the lounge anyway as a one world airline.

I departed Melbourne on a Thursday night at 9.00pm and arrived JFK at 3pm on Friday afternoon.

Lovely video. Was the 90000 points for both flights i can only see the 90000 from Australia to Doha which is still a good deal

Yes, it was 90,000 plus HKD3,958 for the whole trip MEL - JFK. That was booked through AsiaMiles via Cathay towards the end of the pandemic. I see on the system now it is 110,000 Asia Miles from MEL - JFK and I don't see Qatar showing as an option , just CX.

I did the whole thing on AsiaMiles. LAX/SFO wasn't an option.

The Qsuite looks great, but the seat itself doesn't appear comfortable. It's your typical modern "slimline" seat that prioritizes the. 'Climate' and saving weight over. Passenger comfort.

I flew with Qatar, very good but couldn't have a shower due to the long queue.
