Why not be Gay or Bisexual (homosexuality)? According to this teaching it is accepted under Jesus' teaching. What about the scripture that ALL scripture is given for doctrine, reproof and correction? Doesn't the NT teach that homosexuality is a sin? Is that not part of the scripture that WE a Christians under NT law are to abide by? There is ulterior motive in this teaching... Gay is OK
@nicoletrandel29664 ай бұрын
As a child of God my belief is , homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord. I can not support that lifestyle nor will I . But at the same time as his child I must love and pray for those who do choose this lifestyle. God is about love not hate. I will not be cruel or mean to those who live in that life. I will pray for them God opens their eyes to the way, truth and light. I have my own sins I am working on. So who am I to condemn any soul? I need Jesus every day of my life.I don't walk on water.My savior does.He has shown me mercy on so many levels and so many times.Without him I am nothing.With him I have everything I need including eternal life.

Hi all. After reading all of the comments, I realize people can listen to the same thing and understand it completely differently. But here's what I understand from Tim's fabulous message: Sex is only meant to happen in a marital relationship between a man and a woman. No other form of sex is condoned by the Bible or by Tim. I don't know how anyone thought Tim was okay with other forms of sex. The only thing he says about people who are not straight is that they should lead a life of celibacy, devoted to the kingdom. The same way straight people can be celibate and devoted to the kingdom. That's the essence of that passage. Thanks, Tim, for opening my eyes to lots of things that I would have never discerned on my own. You are awesome :) God bless you!

The problems: 1. Gay people can't choose whether to be celibate or not. They are condemned by this book to be alone. You used the euphemism of "devoted to the kingdom". How would that look like? Those who say gay people need to be celibate, go aheadand be an example of that loneliness. 2. Epidemiological studies absolutely disagree with the bible's opinion. Physical intimacy is the most important predictor for depression, anxiety, heart disease and suicide. This "celibacy" thing might seem funny to you and you might feel righteous when you tell people how to live their lives, but this has major consequences. Rethink your position.

It’s not even illegal to cheat on your spouse anymore. Just because something is considered acceptable by modern society,don’t think for one second that God had changed His mind because of sinful man doing so. This is not a call to think you (if heterosexuals) are “better” than homosexuals. We are all sinners. The problem comes when we try and justify our sin, because we love it so much. NO ONE is saying resisting our natural sinful nature is easy...in fact it’s downright impossible without the Holy Spirit. You can be a kleptomaniac,serial liar,have Tourette’s that has you taking the Lords name in vain,etc....all these things are clearly a mental issue. That’s not meant to be said “these people are evil,and we are above them!” It’s simply an understanding of legitimate issues/circumstances that everyday people struggle with because of SINFUL NATURE. It’s up to them to find God and his mercy in the end,no matter what anyone else thinks about what they do being right or wrong.
@alphabeta13604 жыл бұрын
Feat. Cicero there are plenty of straight Christians who choose to be celibate for whatever reasons they may have. They may feel God has called them to it, even if they do not want to. In this sense, they can’t choose either. It is possible to live a fulfilled life without sex and marriage. Both marriage and celibacy require sacrifices and offer good things to us too. As a single straight woman, of course I find the loneliness you mention really difficult sometimes, but I know this is what God is calling me to, at least for now. And I appreciate the upsides of singleness that I wouldn’t have as a married person. Community IS essential to being a healthy human. The Bible says so at the beginning. We need other humans around us, loving and supporting us, but we do not NEED sex. Sex is the most intimate way you can know another human, but we can and should aim to know God even better than this. It is totally possible - in fact, it is His design. Sex is a pointer to what it means to be human - to know and love God. But it itself is not the meaning. This is such a painful and intense situation for many, straight or gay. But God has reached me so deeply in this time of singleness. I’ve learnt to trust Him more and love Him more than before, and I know He is making something far more beautiful out of my life than I could ever do on my own.
@bassmanjr1004 жыл бұрын
@@feat.cicero4638 What??? Can't chose to be celibate or not? Of course they can chose to be celibate. It is their choice? Another choice is to not be celibate and marry someone of the opposite sex. The third choice is to live a sinful life and be intimate with someone of the same sex. It should be obvious to all Christians at that point that the person is living sinfully. The scripture is crystal clear on it. Also note that Jesus said if you lust after someone you sin. We all do this. We are all sinners. Just don't try to call it OK.

I cried watching this video. I am same sex attracted. I've been involving in homosexuality since as early as I was 12, or 13. I did this act so often that I was too used to it to think another way. I identified myself as a gay man and even paraded my sexual orientation (wearing makeup, associating with other gay men, and enjoying promiscuity). But all those things never quenched my thirst for love, care, affection, protection, attention and recognition. This kind of sexual behavior left me with shame and a feeling of deficiency. But then the desire came back and I fell into the same pit over and over again. When I first believed in Jesus I was given the strength to say no to my unwholesome thoughts and desires but I still struggled with the idea of having to get married to please God. I read this passage about Jesus mentioning eunuchs before but did not really understand the meaning until I heard you explain it. Thank you. May God's blessing be with you always.

I think if the fulfillment of desire -- even if it is only momentarily -- didn't give that burst of bliss, it would have been easier to see clearly a long time ago, both for same-sex attracted and for straight. The straight world have it easier b/c, if we get married and have sex we often also have children and then as I've said elsewhere, sex is often severely restricted. Marriage isn't, is not, is not, is not about unlimited amounts of 'safe' sex. It's about additional sacrifices and additional limits on sex and on 'bliss' in general. There's so much distortion in our idea of what our lives are expected/supposed to be in western culture that it is no wonder you, in particular, and many, maybe even most, in general get terribly confused. But it is a confusion we also perpetuate because it seems to promise unlimited amounts of fulfillment and joy. It is only when this doesn't happen that we begin to clear the fog away from the reality of sex. Yes, joy -- yes agony -- yes work and sacrifice and loneliness, in or outside marriage. I don't think of the American dream as a dream anymore. I think of it as the collective global American Fantasy which Reality always demolishes. But meaning? A meaningful life, ah that brings a sense of fulfillment rarely equaled by the simple good luck of getting what you want (I mean 'you' here in the broad sense of everyone). To be born a eunuch means -- you're no different than Jesus if you give up on sex/family/marriage. That's not such a shabby identity.
@rodolfomartinez77275 жыл бұрын
Jay -- where does it condemn the person for existing as a homosexual? Where does it condemn them for being friends with other homosexuals. The Bible condemns same sex sexual activity just as it condemn opposite sex sexual activity that is outside of marriage. Where does it condemn individuals who have a same sex attraction who simply use the term homosexual or gay? It says a whole lot on the other person for assuming they know someone’s sexual activity simply because someone states their homosexual.
@abja1014 жыл бұрын
Ignore Jay you trusted Jesus and gave up an old life for a new life. I'll see you in heaven brother. God is not a cruel God and he will more than make away for you. Like he has made a way for me. Just something about what our brother here says that struck me. He had just finished the doctrine and rather than the attitude of,"now this is the law now walk you in it", he humbly says "this would start the conversation but be nice to each other. This did something for me. It shows me the mentality that all of the teaching the purpose is to make us better at loving each other or better yet striving with God's help to achieve closer grades of that ideal daily. This is not religion's attitude. It is not a cold closed-circuit "I'm- keeping-all-of-God's-rules" mentality.

My husband is not a believer and at times his behaviour is troubling, BUT I can see how this relationship is a reflection of my relationship with God. I can be very displeasing to Him and yet, he stays and hopes that I will stay in covenant with Him and by doing so, I will become more like Jesus. Even through my spiritually adulterous behaviour, He stays and hopes and works. I pray for His patience, his will in this human relationship - this mirror of my life with God.

7 But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another. 8 So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows-it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. 9 But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust. 10 But for those who are married, I have a command that comes not from me, but from the Lord.A wife must not leave her husband. 11 But if she does leave him, let her remain single or else be reconciled to him. And the husband must not leave his wife. 1 Corinthians 7

Sadly, this particular teaching is an exegetical embarrassment and a pastoral license to justify and condone divorce and remarriage of those God has joined together. The Old Testament criticizes and prohibits polygyny, which is the opposite of this presentation. The Old Testament also teaches lifelong and till death marriage: '[if] she is his women, he may not divorce her all of his days' (Deut. 22) and 'you shall not take a woman [woman 2] to her sister [woman 1] [Hebrew idiom for one thing next to another, never means biological sisters] to impinge upon her during her life.' (Lev. 18:18) i.e. if you have woman 1, and she is lawfully your woman, you may neither divorce her, all of your days, nor add a second wife all of the first woman's life. That is lifelong monogamy. Ex. 21 has nothing to do with polygamy or divorce, since the woman goes out as unmarried as when she came in. Deut. 24:1-4 is about the divorce during the betrothal stage before the marriage becomes permanent and unconditional. The Lord affirmed lifelong marriage and the restriction on divorce to the porneia case of Deut 22:13-21

I have struggled with bisexuality since I was very young although I was very zealous for Jesus in my teens and was baptized. My confusing sexuality was something hidden and shameful -- I was married for 14 years and had a child. My life blew up. I divorced in my 30's, rebelled, and was promiscuous for years. Then I had a realization that demons were constantly around me... so I pleaded, on my knees, for God to remove the demons and my misplaced sexual desire that has plagued me my whole life. He answered my prayers - he cleansed me and took away my desire. It was a miracle. I am now putting my sexuality aside in my 60's and live only for the LORD. I have always known this verse and meaning of the eunuch - it is not about homosexuality -- it is about putting aside your sexuality (any type) and living for the love of God. I came here hearing accusations that Tim was gay, but after hearing him speak of this, I agree with him. And if anyone is gay, bisexual, trans, etc., Jesus still loves that person and hopes that they will lay aside the fornication. He loved and blessed me through all of my confusion. I don't know if Jesus was speaking of himself as the eunuch, but he very well could have been.... God bless all.

I'm years behind listening to this sermon. I love the way Tim digs in to Scripture and preaches in a way that's exegetical and engaging. Reminds me of Rob Bell before he became more of a universalist. I think Tim treaded carefully and well along the "gay" topic. I do struggle with Matthew 19.12 talking specifically about someone who is gay. Seems like it could also be someone who doesn't have a sex drive and certainly these people exist and are not gay. Regardless, I don't necessarily have an issue with people being "born" gay in the same way that I don't have an issue with people being born prone to alcoholism, or other addictions. What's important is that they/we fight sin (even though we may fail at times) and not just settle and say, "I guess God made me like this, might as well give in." You can't read into this passage (Matthew 19) too much but it seems to support the idea that the eunuch, born this way, has no sexual desire...one way or another. Rambling...sorry. Interesting.

I was wondering why he was so nervous. I see now. None of the claims here are true. He taught that marriage as biblically taught is between man and a woman and there are people who are called to singleness including people who are born as eunuchs…it’s just the scriptures. We have been obsessed (evangelicals) with marriage and h to e family as an end goal and it has become an idol. We have been obsessed (conservatives) with homosexuality instead of honoring all who are called to not marry regardless of sexual orientation. We have become obsessed with sex and sexual pleasure…he is t taking any sides here. It’s all the narrow road.

So far, (i am working through this whole channel from the beginning), the way this marriage and divorce discussion goes, it makes you dig down and be completely honest with yourself. It brings you thru the hard discussion and face to face with facts. While marriage can be beautiful between a man and woman who meet and agree wholeheartedly to live life together as one, it isn't meant for everyone. Just like grains of sand on the beach, everyone will have a different experience. Never marrying or divorcing/remarrying several times does not strike you out of the kingdom of heaven. It is how you gracefully handle your unique presented opportunities and keep your eyes on God at all times and in all things and in all places. Amen.

@@lilmissamberr that's right now I think I remember. If I'm not mistaken, I was trying to say I may have misjudged this teacher. I should have spoken more carefully. My first impression was that he would have taught something where a modern feminist ideology comes first to appease the masses and the bible takes the back seat or possibly is twisted to fit the narrative. Something like that. If this is the video I'm thinking of, I might have said this because I was impressed with how lovingly he tries to gently steer his sheep toward a better acceptance of Gods word. I think I said the last part because I believe he is trying to reach people who may be used to a lot of rejection and it was cool to see the way he reaches people with a lot of loving patience and kindness... hope that helps clarify. I appreciate Tim's graciousness and tact as he navigates the topic of gender. I don't know why but as an LGBTQ person, I feel discouraged after watching this message. What I am getting from what Tim said is that us LGBTQs should just live a life of no sex and no marriage as another form of upholding the image of God, apart from being heterosexually married. That removes from us the right and the fruits of forming a loving, covenant relationship with someone we love. Aren't we capable of loving just because we are the metaphorical eunuchs? I've been following Bible Project for quite some time and it really felt like it's a community of worship where I can belong. But after hearing this from Tim there's a part in my heart that's hurting. I don't know, but what I know of is that finding a worship community as LGBTQs is a difficult, hurtful journey. I hope I can find it. God will provide the way. What do you think I should do next?
@ChristFollower003 жыл бұрын
Why do you think you have a right to form a covenant relationship? If God calls me to lifelong abstinence, then how do I have that right apart from God? I have no life or rights apart from that which the Lord has gifted me. I am thankful to God that I have anything at all. Yes, you are capable of loving, because love is not primarily sexual. God has no inherent physical form, and God is the source of all love. Sexual practice within the marriage covenant between male and female was created by God to be one way of expressing the love of God. There are many other ways to love, otherwise Jesus, the Son of God, did not love because Jesus never married. I know you may not like this, but our feelings can lead us astray. Mine have led me to dark places. God is the front of our train, then reason, then will, and feelings or emotions need to know where they belong. They belong in the back of the train being guided by God, reason, and will. They are not deleted, but given their proper place. I respect and love you as an image of God, and it is through this comment I am expressing it. I pray God teaches myself and others how to love and what love looks like, because we all need God to raise us in wisdom, justice, truth, and love.

@@ChristFollower00 Thank you as well for your graciousness. There’s so much to grasp from what you wrote here, but what I am getting from it is that God is calling LGBTs for lifelong abstinence and practice the love that Jesus is teaching us; such love is beyond the sexual activity meant for married heterosexuals. The world is filled with straight people living their life-getting married, getting joint investments, building families with ease, enjoying the privileges that the world gave them because they’re straight-while us LGBTs are left in the margins, often doubting that our existence matter, because institutions like states and churches have long been making us feel unwelcome. Whyyyyyy is it so hard for us to find our spiritual home? Why does it have to be harder for us LGBTs? Do you think repressing sexual desire is easy, when we see straight people every single day enjoying their life in the world which they designed for themselves? Do you think LGBTs shouldn’t fight for a piece of that world?

@@aemanllantada4273 I am rereading what I wrote, and have realized in hindsight that my comment could easily be unclear or confrontational. This was not my intention, rather I noticed your post was more recent and I wanted you to know that God sees you and cares about you (hopefully through my response). You correctly understood what I was trying to faithfully relate to you from scripture and study. I do not know if you are a follower of the Messiah (Jesus of Nazareth) or not, and so my dialogue will reflect this. A couple words of caution here.: First, is that looking at the world for good and evil/right and wrong is a "recipe for disaster" to use a common phrase. If what Jesus and His followers have said and written is true, then following the world intensify our spiritual blindness (blind leading the blind). The privileges the world seems to have given people are not what we need to be focused on as they are temporary and fleeting. Followers of Jesus trust that His Kingdom is already partially here through the Church (All true followers of the Messiah, Jesus). These followers of Jesus are tasked with living out the commands and teachings of their Messiah because they believe that He is one member of the triune God (Jesus, God the Son). We are to do everything in our power to welcome people who desire to experience what God is doing through the Church, and hopefully non-believers trust in the Lord because the Holy Spirit uses our faithful witness. The Church must also work against moral vices and crimes in love and for justice. The Church is then ridiculed (sometimes much worse) for its devotion to a righteous and loving God. I apologize for any unjust treatment from the Church and ask you to look at what God teaches through the Old and New Testament, especially through Jesus of Nazareth. We still fail to live loving and just lives as our Lord did, but we are works in progress. Second, it is important to remember that everyone will have to sacrifice what they think defines them when following Jesus. God does not demand we make ourselves good to approach Him, but rather after we begin to rely on Him God begins making us into who we were always made to be. God is tearing out things I thought essential to myself, and it is excruciatingly painful. I have struggled with lustful pre-marital sexual desires and behaviors too. I understand the struggle seems impossible, but remember that if we are followers of Jesus, then God has promised to give us a way to escape and endure these temptations. Humankind was never meant to find its identity in anyone or anything other than God. We have the great gift from God to be forgiven of our moral crimes and vices, being remade into who humankind was always made to be. We have all committed capital offenses (using legal terms) deserving of eternal punishment from a holy, just, and loving God. Thankfully, God loves us and has come in Jesus to bear the punishment we all deserved. Jesus took our evil to the cross, and suffered much worse than any temptation we struggle with now. Jesus is the Son who had been in eternal love and justice with the Father and Holy Spirit before creation. This means He is the only one who could bear the enormous punishment all of humanity deserved, and come out the other side victorious. It is much worse than mere torture on the cross, which is still horrendous to think about since humanity murdered their loving and just Creator. The death we deserve is not solely physical, but it is primarily spiritual/relational. Humanity deserved eternal exile from the conscious presence of God, God's love, and fellowship with God. Jesus experienced this separation from God during His sacrifice. The Father and Spirit veiled their presence from our Savior, and Jesus felt alone for the first time ever. The eternal fellowship He belonged to became obscured. The Son did not stop being one person of the triune God, but rather the Son lost all the experience and benefits of God's love and was left with the justice of God directed towards sin. Think about this when you feel alone and unloved. The triune God of the Universe loved you and every other human enough to create this world, knowing that we would rebel against Him. God knew that He could pardon us from our crimes and save us, but it required that God take the punishment on Godself. God suffered immeasurable torture and torment in our place, and rose victoriously from the dead. This was to show us what any who trust in Jesus are to become. The LGBTQ+ community has not been forgotten or despised by God. God knows them and every other person fully. God came through Jesus of Nazareth to redeem all humanity that comes to Him. God will be faithful to strengthen all those who lean on Him. It may take months, years, or all of our time on earth, but if we follow Jesus until the end, then eternity will make our current struggles seem incredibly small. As those who lean on the work of Jesus are declared innocent due to accepting the divine pardon and made innocent through divine purification, they enter into God's eternal bliss, fellowship, justice, and love. This is God's Kingdom, where God wipes our tears away personally, and there will be no desire nor reason to sin (so no sin at all). God respects the choice of those who reject His offer of pardon and eternal life with Him. They remain in their guilt for their crimes. God cannot destroy those made in His image, and so they are quarantined forever away from the fullness of God, and are left only with His just judgment known to them. This is God's offer to everyone who will accept it: grace, pardon, moral transformation, and eternity with the triune God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. God loves you and is helping myself and the Church to love like He does. You can friend me on Facebook under the same name you see here if you want to talk more. God's blessings upon you Aeman Llantada.

I was really encouraged seeing your comment among many others that were very discouraging.. i am not a part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I personally really struggle with the Church's view on marriage and sex outside of heterosexual relationships. I don't have answers for you, because I am looking for the same answers, but I wanted to encourage you to keep asking questions and to keep learning. I think growing closer to God is the best thing we can do for our doubts - he is the only one who knows the absolute truth. Like Tim said, any human explanation or understanding is inherently flawed and incomplete.

@@faithrineer2538 Keep asking your questions and struggling with God. I merely encourage you to never reject the Lord, even if God gives you answers you do not like. I have struggled with God on many things, and still am. While I agree that the Church and people in general have been wrong before, we do get things right sometimes. The same God who calls me, you, and everyone else to deny themselves, pick up their cross, and follow Him; is the God who took our punishment and forgives us. Whatever we struggle with, seek God, and God will help you see important truth clearly. God bless and enjoy Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus are in view.

As a married woman (nearly 13yrs now) I must say: yes it requires sacrifice (as does following Christ being single), but the rewards are greater than one could understand without experiencing it. It is the challenge within marriage that makes spiritual growth exponential. Every single day we are learning things together as well as separate and then share with each other. Parenthood will make you get to your knees like nothing else. Parenthood will make you understand God's (sacrificial) love for us and our relationship to Him like nothing else. There are lessons in life we can only learn through marriage and/ or parenthood. As I'm sure there are also lessons one can only learn by remaining single, which is also a sacrifice. We all have our own calling in life. But your "more realistic" portrayal of marriage I found rather pessimistic. I do appreciate you reaching out to christian singles though, for they are marginalized.

I love how Tim Mackie wrestles with the text and how he insists on integrity -- that is, a refusal to make it what we may want it to be, especially when it comes to what Jesus said about the laws and practises attached to the Hebrew faith. Mr. Mackie struggles to be as clear as Jesus was with his followers and attackers -- about what God intends and institutes. We need this defining and clarifying so much. What I took away from what he said here sounds like it was faithful to Christ in every particular. First, he situates the issue "on the road" as he says (and repeats). On the road to Jesus' 'coronation' by the then world as "the king of the Jews'. This coming coronation gives what Jesus says particular authority. He knows exactly what God intended in his laws and has come to re-inaugurate it, if you like. He never makes following what Abraham began, Moses perpetuated and the prophets continued up until John the Baptist, easy or comfortable. He knows we can't follow the law -- but not only doesn't he not dispense with it -- he makes it harder! He makes us aware of the essence of the issues the law deals with -- murder/rage in our hearts/violence as a result of nurturing a grudge (like Cain), adultery, sex outside marriage in general, as about lust/possession/a kind of greed and divorce -- about the heart too -- about one man with a ''hard heart' who wants more-and-different sex and wants that to be legal. The one man/one woman rule is actually as hard, or harder, or almost as hard as not having sex at all. Regardless of not just incompatibilies etc. but the realities of sex apart from the brief moment of bliss. How women often feel when they are pregnant (uninterested in sex). How women often feel when they're nursing (uninterested in sex). What it is like to parent toddlers (neither interested in sex) and then adolescents. None of it is mostly fun. It can't be -- the reality, chemical, personal, societal is work. It's meant to be and sex only plays a pivotal/marginal role. In marriage, men have to conform to a sexual schedule that if they care about how their wife feels is not what they think -- what our culture tells them -- they've signed up for. There's going to be many dry periods because sex often leads to children. That may even be the point of it. The discussion then about eunuchs is profoundly interesting. A life without sex because sex is tied to children in the Biblical world view is an unhappy, free, lonely, fruitful, unharrassed, generous, exceptional life. No ability to have children because of how you were either made or born? No sex. The no sex thing is true both in and outside marriage and is especially hard for men. But Mr. Mackie is so right that we equate sex with happiness and I think that is because it is happiness. Desire and its fulfillment makes you happy. It also leads to inevitable unhappiness (see above) and lack of fulfillment. But the life God calls us to follow in Jesus is always going to involve sacrifice. Jesus' kingship is based (literally) on the reality of love meaning sacrifice. His throne is a cross, which is kind of like saying his throne is the electric chair. There is no way to follow Jesus and not have a life marked by giving up something central to happiness in this world. That's how love is lived in this world. I treasure how Mr. Mackie emphasises this idea of Reality in contrast with contemporary western culture. Happiness isn't why we're here. Gee I wish this were preached more consistently across our world! That's where the faith and the world part company in a major way and a way that especially in the contemporary world is basically heretical. But Jesus 'on the road' is not going to a life of personal fulfillment. he's going to his kingship as the crucified image of God. His life is about to get radically less happy! But it is a kind of consummation of the marriage he's made with humanity. This agony is also maybe an image for 'sexual' union if you like? It is called The Passion after all. Thank you Tim Mackie for making these essential points about who we are and who God is. Sorry this is so long lol... . Just so pumped about your thoughtful and faithful parsing of Jesus' teaching.

Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no; it is an ever-fixed mark, That looks on tempests, and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come; Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved. I think jesus would approve!!!

I really want opinions from Christians, whether you believe gay marriage should be legal or not. I was raised into Christianity, and still of today I am a strong believer. But ever since I was around 11 years old, I’ve been struggling with my sexuality. Middle school was the time when I fully realized that I only have attractions towards the same sex, and I tried so hard to date boys in high school but it never felt right... what I mean by that is that I never really liked any of them. and even while I was dating boys, I had genuine feelings for girls I knew and even some close friends. “You’ve just never found the right boy” no, I promise you that ever since the day I hit puberty I was never attracted to a man, not just sexually, but romantically too. So I prayed. And I prayed. I begged god, crying, on my knees to change my feelings towards women (several times, I was in a depression) because I knew that my parents would NEVER accept me and I love my parents with all my heart.... but most of all I fear going to hell....and guess what? I’m still the same. I still only experience attraction towards women, and it’s NOT a choice, I don’t know how else to explain this my Christian friends! I wanted to be heterosexual so bad back then you wouldn’t believe it ! Now, I’m a senior in high school, I still pray every morning, and I’m still a lesbian. So please don’t tell me to try conversion therapy/methods bc nearly everyone who goes through that experiences suicidal thoughts and depression. Don’t tell me to pray harder because for the last time it never worked! I believe with all my heart that god was answering my prayers by not doing anything at all. I strongly believe I was meant to be this way. So yes I can learn to suppress it, and ignore my feelings towards women, but I would never be happy... or experience true love... and I think that’s so unfair that you would this of anyone!

The attraction is the temptation not the sin. Everyone struggles with predilections towards particular sins, I too have SSA. I had to choose who I would follow, my flesh or Jesus. Once I surrendered completely to Jesus/God He gave me Peace, you won't find that in other people ever. Hetero or homosexual relationships. If you want to talk further I'm here to listen. Prayers for your journey.

you are who you are. Any reference to homosexuality in the Bible has to do with child sex slavery and it usually happened with boys. That’s what it’s about.

Not sure if you read this 3 years later and what you have chosen in your life. I do ask "do you fill fulfilled?". From what you wrote I believe every bit of it. Our flesh and feelings can be so complex and powerful that we let them rule us. But this is why God made us higher beings....our ability to think. We can reason and understand. It's hard at any age, but when you're young and exposed to certain things it becomes even harder. However, whatever we feel doesn't make it truth IF we choose Christ. We can't give into our flesh....which is why the scriptures speak of dying to our flesh. We are to rise above our fleshly nature. You are no different from me and my old desire to be angry at my husband. I felt strongly he deserved it...and according to my view he did. But it didn't make it right. God gave strict commands in how we are to respect each other.....just like He gives strict commands to not behave in other ways. So you must deny yourself daily. No conversion therapy. Yes, pray...but pray that God renews your mind every day and surrender your will to Jesus. One day, like someone who workouts, you'll look up and see you have a different stronger body! God bless you!

@@moon-xk8ze There are lots of struggles we go through as teens. Extremely difficult not to sin sexually with the same or opposite sex. But I beg you to look at the bigger picture. Once you go down that path you will struggle 1,000x more the rest of your life. Think of it like heroine or cocaine. The only way to not get extremely addicted is to never do it. You may have some difficulty resisting temptation now, but it’s nothing compared to AFTER experiencing with it. Hope this helps. The sins I don’t struggle with at all right now are the ones I NEVER GAVE INTO ONCE.

Wow, so true Mr. Mackie! I also grew up in the 80's and agree 💯 that we were thrown a whole lot of sex and promiscuity, and it's even worse now.

“But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.” I Timothy 1:8-11 NKJV

It’s a gift to honor the words of the message without agenda or denominational bias and then share it in simple words and context that people can relate to. Tim has clearly made himself an available tool in the hand of God.

That passage is not saying people are born gay. People are born with no sexual desire. People can get it cut off .or they can choose celibacy. Sex is a choice. Who are what you have sex with is a choice. And choices have consequences whether it be good or bad. If you can't control your sexual urges get married to the opposite sex or don't get married. Whatever you decide is your decision we as Christian's should love you no matter what you decide. If we choose to tell you you're wrong. We are to do it with love. Only God can deal the consequences.

Something that tends to happen to Tim is that people assume he's saying something he didn't. I also see it often on TBP videos. The reason is (I think), he is extremely academic, even when he's talking to the general public. So he takes the issue in question and isolates it and talks about the correlation of one thing with the other, leaving other matters on the side. This doesn't mean that other variables don't correlate with the the main subject, he's just not talking about them.

This is the first video of his that I have watched, but to me the problem is that he didn't read the Matthew 19 accurately since the divorce would have to be for fornication during the betrothal period (like Joseph considered for Mary), and then if he had just simply given the passages of the gospels of Mark 10 and Luke 16, it says there is no allowance for any remarriage. John the Baptist also taught this and was beheaded for it. Way too much time was spent on OT when Jesus came to teach that we are not under the Mosaic Law, but under HIS commands in the Law of Christ. Only one man to only one woman for life, and he should have warned all single people not to even consider marrying a divorced person with a living spouse. I have a playlist of over 140 videos about divorce and remarriage adultery, but his teaching is just not clear.

Adding "no gay or straight" to that Bible verse is both accurate to the heart of Scripture (in that we all must deny our divisions and "identities" apart from Christ), but also shows a major flaw in thinking (that you can retain a sinful identity and yet still be a Christian) and reveals and underlying motive that this sermon, though the earlier parts were founded on truth, was crafted to sneak in at the last moment.
