In this video I go to the range with Bullets4Bucks and test the Savage 110 Ultralite in 28 Nosler. I have 175 gr ABLR handloads with H1000. We also test velocities with the 300 WBY and 257 WBY. Hope you enjoy the video!

I've said it before but I 'll say it again . Three 3 shot groups is the bare minimum to tell what your rifle/load combination is capable of!And, if a hunting rifle will stay around MOA consistently,thats awesome.Smaller than that is only for bragging rights!
@blaserlongrange76165 ай бұрын
I agree with you but if not 3 shoot groups, five will definitely not do it ..start with 2-3 shoot groups till you find something that looks good and then shoot 5 shoots from that load to confirm if it works or many 3 shoot groups at different times and temperatures..one of the most important things is the practical precision from your rifle ,that's when your loads hits where you aim every time, a half inch group is usless if it not hits the center every time
@allthingsconsidered32115 ай бұрын
A 2 shot group is still a bad group if theyre 5 in apart. no need to shoot 10.. Especially when ur shooting the belted magnum class of cartridges. Thosell heat up in just 2 shots
@orr89rocz5 ай бұрын
Even better is 3 cold bore shot groups. Always verify where the first cold bore shot goes on a hunting rifle as that is the round that will count. Especially at long ranges

Crazy velocities from that 300 Weatherby and 28 Nosler!

I like that the 28 nosler is sticking around long term as a game cartridge. It's a wild child but it's managable for its level of authority, oddly practical and a good design for being overgassed. I'm only a fdw minutes from the expo but I had some stuff come up, looking forward to your output.

Amazing speeds. 3250 fps 175 grain 28 nosler with 24 inch barrel !!! Fantastic and you could get 3300 fps with 26 inch barrel. 2- You got 3100 fps with 225 grain bullet and 24 inch barrel, again 26 inch barrel will give you a prime. 3- Muzzle brakes are a must to improve accuracy.

My dad has been testing loads for my Seekins 28 nosler. And we could not get H1000 group to shot well. But we did switch to N570 powder with the same charge load and got a 3/8 group. I’m also loading a 180 vld

Great video!!! Both my 28 noslers like 175 gr ABLR loaded full mag and 80 gr Retumbo !! Good luck !! Ps 1/2 inch groups in both !!

That’s impressive velocity from your 300. I gotta try some of that LRT

The gun shop next to me has ram shot ltr. You should try n570 in that 28. I get 3050 with 180 vld in my prc. Let me know if you want to get some powder.

Might also try US896 and ELD-X

I haven’t gotten great results yet with LRT and 180 berger hybrids. I run 28” barrel and its over 3350 fps at max. Ive been trying around 3200-3275 ranges and so-so groups. I find its sensitive to seating. I just tried retumbo and 180 vld and got 3250 ish fps and single hole group. I gotta verify it a few more times but i think its better powder

Going to try Retumbo next

77.7 h1000 180 bergers and 175 bergers my savage ultra light weight shoots 1-2 moa same load with 180 Eldm shoots 1 hole col 3.600 they won’t fit in the clip you have to single feed but it’s worth a try if you want

I shoot 162eld-x in my 28 nosler at a COAL of 3.485” and get consistently 1/2-.7 MOA using H1000. 82 grains at 3269fps. It’s a bergara hmr though, so not the same platform, but that may be something to look into also. I was showing ejector marks pretty good any higher than 82gr. 175 eld-x with 77gr retumbo gave me 2982fps with an ES of 16 and SD of 8, with well under 1” groups, but then started showing pressure signs again, and decided on the 162 and h1000 because of speed and availability

The 257 Weatherby is an interesting barrel burner, but im not optimistic about these rare niche brass cartridges being ready available. The RUM and WSM brass is really not widely available anymore.
@orr89rocz5 ай бұрын
Nice that ADG and Lapua started making 300 wsm brass. Norma still does too and is what i use. That should keep the wsm around. Its phenomenal. ADG also has 300 rum and 338 i think. Peterson does 7 rum.

The ABLRs need more jump than the ELD-Xs in my Savage UL.

168 ablr liked a full tenth in my aftermarket barrel, and that was at much lower pressure and case size.

🕵️♂️ Other Powder Recommendations Include US 869 and Magpro - Which Will Get You Similar Velocities As LRT! 🔥 However, I Would Try Retumbo, Because It Is a More Temperature Stable Powder For Hunting/Accuracy Purposes, Even Though It Won't Get You Quite The Velocity! 🎯
@edwardabrams49725 ай бұрын
Both are great the 869 I thinks gets a little more velocity at least in my Weatherbys and Nosler 48’s and fierce rifles I got for my sons

🔥 I Have A New Canister of Magpro, Just Waiting to Be Used! But, I Have Always Had Good Luck in My Magnums With Retumbo, As One of My "Go To" Magnum Powders! 🥳
@ronlowney47005 ай бұрын
☹ The Problem is US 689 Has a Temperature Change of 1.68 FT/Degree, Magpro 1.01 FT/Degree, and Retumbo 0.49 FT/Degree! Thus, At Colder Temperatures, The Retumbo Will Catch Up in Velocity and Should Give You Better Accuracy! 🎯
@ronlowney47005 ай бұрын
😃 Austin Said He Would Try H1000 and That Would Be My Other Recomendation! It Will Probably Be a Little Slower Muzzle Velocity Than Retumbo, But It Too is Very Temperature Stable - 0.21 Ft/Degree of Temperature Change! Thus, It Will Make Up the Difference in Velocity at Colder Temperatures! 🥶
@orr89rocz5 ай бұрын
H1000 and retumbo def are fine for the 160-175 bullets. Retumbo works good so far in mine with 180 vld. Working H1000 with sierra gamechangers 165 at over 3300 fps but havent gotten the tight group i want yet
@mariocabella54765 ай бұрын
It seemed the 257 Wby without brake kicked more than the 28N with brake. 28 N recoil with brake seemed less than 7Rem mag without brake. Was that the case? You got warp speed with the Wby and the 28N is fantastic. Congrats
