We would like to know who were those IAS officers who discouraged Mr. Kurien, calling it a foolish or stupid project, can't materialise it. Also very eager to know what all projects they materialised successfully. I think all our civil servants have high salaries and enjoy many benefits. Do they really work hard and bring innovative projects for the development of our state ? I think in Kerala it is very necessary to have a waste management policy and projects. Waste is energy if we convert it properly. But our politicians and bureaucrats close their eyes to such projects and try to bribe if someone bring such plans. I really pray that more committed and young civil servants join our government and our leadership gives them sufficient space to work for the good of our people.

Bureaucrats are generally the ones who paly safe and warn you of the roadblocks and how a project would not be feasible. But VJ Kurien is one person who dared to think out of the box and make this game changing idea possible. Without this, the Vembanad tourism projects and the famed kettuvallams would not be there. Also Infopark would have been a distant dream as no one would open up offices without convenient air connectivity. In old kochi Naval airport there was no guarantee that you could board even after getting a confirmed ticket due to inclement weather and weight factors. As a young intern in a private company, we were tasked to cultivate the Indian Airlines station manager who was the VIP who could help you when your company bigwigs wanted to fly out of kochi urgently. The biggest surprise is that the venture is 100% green and profitable--a rare achievement indeed.
