28 weeks is 7 months. Why make a sequel that takes place less than 2 years later? Meh...I think at one point they were planning to do that, but then enough time passed that they decided to make it years, which allows for A LOT more changes to have taken place. More interesting story.

It's your typical survivor story, the walking dead and last of us bruned me out from that type of thing, There's only so much you can do before the story becomes a convoluted mess. It's this generations version of a slasher movie. This feels more like George Romero's last Living Dead script, complete with the island setting.

They definitely would be getting injured over time, but their adrenals are pumping at 110% because of the virus at all times, and they are in a bewildered cloudy minded rage. That's why they starve and and up dying of dehydration so much later than a normal human would, and thus the reason why the are not zombies is because they are still alive, just no longer themselves.
