In Eritrea the Orthodox Christian and Muslim religions are Indigenous- they have centuries of harmonious presence. Nakfa is stronger 💪 than a dollar, although it is exchanged for 15- it will buy you breakfast 🍞: you can't do that in California.

I don’t think they are indigenous, maybe you wanted to say old. At first, Christianity came to Abyssinia from the Levant through Assyrian, Egyptian, and Greek missionaries. Islam was introduced through the Sahaba of prophet Mohammed, and they were Arabs. They are not indigenous. Thank you 🙏

@@NEGARIT Christianity in Eritrea is so old that it can rightly be described as an Indigenous, traditional, and African religion. Long before the start of Islam in the seventh century, Christianity was well established all over North Africa, Egypt, part of the Sudan, Eritrea, and Ethiopia.

Words have established meaning and you can have them have different meaning as one wishes. That’s is my understanding. The history of religions is also well established with tons of references. I don’t have new ideas to debate the matter. So, going back to references is the solution, I think. Take care🤚

@@wowo9142Before Christianisation our ancestors subscribed to pre-Christian Aksuman paganism, centred around the worshipping of native deities like Astar, Mahrem etc, with elements of ancestral worship, similar to the autochtonous folk religions of peoples like Gurage or Konso. We were pagans, or Arämi. That's our true indigenous belief system. Even the name of the Christian God (Egziabeher) derives from this native religion. Christianity is a Roman import. Our whole body of traditional literature consist of translations of foreign writings. The very fact that our people regularly bow down to images of men that do not resemble them is a evident of the inherent foreigness of Christianity, despite its a age-long status as a established and officially sanctioned state religion.
