Came onto Heidi's videos from David's, and have now gone back and watched 20 or more of hers. I do believe this is the first video in awhile I haven't heard Heidi mention 'Lock j!zz." Land lubber question, you mention towpath mooring is available to all, and it strikes me that this must be a modern development as it would seem extremely inconsiderate during horse towing to have a line of moored boats in your way whilst struggling along with a heavy load of coal or somesuch?

Yes, there wouldn't have been lines of moored boats because back then they were all working boats so they didn't just moor up and stay awhile, they'd be on the move during the day.

@@CruisingTheCut It must have been a rather hectic time in the larger cities and towns in industrial areas with horsedrawn barges turning, ropes everywhere, horses passing each other, ropes criss crossing all with heavily laden barges. Was there an "up" side and "down" side for the boats? The ropes must have been slacked off to let them sink to allow boats to pass one another.

I disagree, David. Bridge 50 may not be a 'classic', but it does remind me somewhat of architecture of the Indian sub-continent. That graceful arch and the slightly off-vertical walls. I’m enjoying watching as you have discovered the joys of simply being a passenger. Occasionally helping out of course, but otherwise enjoying the ride, or getting on with other tasks. There are endless vlogs from the perspective of the pilot/driver, but not much from anyone else onboard - am I making any sense. I don’t know, it just seems like the overall experience of being a passenger/crew would be really different from that of the pilot/driver/captain. VERY different indeed. 🤔 it’s just a thought, but it is glorious to see you discovering the simple joys of just being a passenger.

Am really impressed by The Rum Wench's swimming ability. She may have a 3 foot draft but she moves through the water with hardly a ripple even when up to normal cruising speed and also appears to suck very little water back when going through the Llangollen bridges. A good hull design and build no doubt.
