Hey, this reminds me of a type of “third man” experience my mom & her friend experience while hiking in the Canadian Rockies! They had hiked a somewhat locally-notorious mountain, and ended up in a position where they were basically right on the edge of a cliff. There was no safe way for them to get back down the way they’d gone up, and they had no inkling of where to go next. Then, this man wearing a light beige Tilly hat and outfit just strolls up to them and starts chatting, asks if they need help, and tells them to follow him. He leads them down from their precarious spot on top of the cliff, and down to a very sketchy ledge with a cable as your only security from a 2,000 foot drop. He eventually brought them back to the face side of the mountain, back to an easy-to-follow hiking trail for their descent, bid them farewell, turned, and proceeded to scree-ski at an alarming pace down the face of the mountain. My mom and her friend kept checking over their shoulder to keep an eye on him, but after about a minute, he’d just disappeared. Not a trace to be seen. There were no boulders or crevices he could have gone in/behind; just an endless wash of scree, and his light coloured hat and clothes stood out against the dark rock well enough that they should have been able to spot him still making his way down (or even if he had fallen). My mom & her friend were convinced they met an angel that day, but it sounds more similar to a third-man situation to me!

I love this conversation on the third man syndrome. I feel like in my darkest times I always felt something tugging me in the right direction. not necessarily a person's presence but more like an energy. It saved me and helped me a lot during some DARK times.

An ex-boyfriend of mine years ago told me a third man story. He was making a long drive across the U.S. and was beginning to fall asleep at the wheel in an unfamiliar location. He said suddenly there was a man in the car with him giving him directions, telling him where to turn and finally when to stop. The "man" led him down a country road near a cornfield by the highway, where my ex fell asleep and rested before hitting the road again. He was definitely alone in the car, but as he was hearing this man's voice and directions, he was calm and never questioned what he was hearing or why. He was guided to safety so he didn't fall asleep on the road.

This November my brother died alone behind a shopping center I now have hope that even though he did not survive that MAYBE he was not ALONE. I have been hurting over this so this brings me a tad of peace.

I've had a couple of experiences. The first time was when I was 8 months pregnant with my first child, I slipped on a flight of icy stairs outside before sunrise, I felt myself falling forward and knew I was going to fall belly first and probably break my neck, I closed my eyes and felt a firm pair of hands grab me by the shoulders and haul me backwards and set me firmly on my feet. I opened my eyes and turned, but no one was there.

The second experience was when I was baking chicken in a glass baking pan. I opened the oven and crouched down to check the progress, when I heard a loud high pitched whining noise. Before I could register what it was, the pan exploded into a thousand pieces . Glass shards flew everywhere, inside and outside the oven. Not a single piece touched me, even though I was mere inches from the pan. It made me think of the scene in Pulp Fiction when Jules was raving about how it had to be Divine Intervention that the hail of bullets from a gun fire scene missed him entirely even though there were bullet holes in the wall behind him.

Hey! 😊👋 I experienced this phenomena leading up to and during my nde experience. It was in January of this year. I had major internal bleeding in my abdomen after a hysterectomy. By the time the docs were rushing me back into surgery, my hemoglobin was only 6.2. I lost well over half of all the blood in my body. 😳 I was discharged way too soon because when i got home i had another large internal bleed. My abdomen rapidly became infected and swelled up like i'd become 6 months pregnant overnight. I was rushed back into hospital where i stayed for another 5 days having antibiotics through an iv. I bled - blood from my abdomen - through a hole in my stitches for 4 long and extremely painful months. I saw, heard and felt numerous supernatural things throughout the whole ordeal, energies & apparitions. . . Shortly before i was taken into surgery for my hysterectomy my third man said to me, "You'll be lucky to wake up from this".😳 I am in the early stages of writing a book about it, mainly to help me process everything mentally and to share my story. ❤ I love your podcast. 🎉 👻 Lots of love Laura xXx

I think we have set paths we are set to take in life that has been pre-determined. But within that, we are all giving free will, so things can change based on what we choose... honestly, the Cosmic Collective explains it so well in a way i resignate with!

The Universe always speaks! I found your podcast through Hannah the Horrible and coincidentally, I have been really fascinated with the concept of the 3rd Man Syndrome and haven't been able to find much. I'm so excited to listen to this!

No they didn't lift Shackleton's ship. They located it with a remote diving thing. History Hits has a bunch of shows about it. It was really cool and exciting.

I wonder if 3rd man phenomenon is actually a person who is astrally travelling or lucid dreaming. I had an experience in my life that leads me in that direction :)

Funny you should talk about Reinhold Messner, he is the reason I have to think of the yeti as a probably real. After the death of this brother he when solo into the mountains to take stock for several weeks. There, in the one of the most remote areas, he watched a line of yeti like creatures walking a ridge for more than half an hour. As one of the greatest and most experienced mountaineers of all time you have to take his account seriously.

I have a third-man story for y'all. I almost drowned at a water park when I was 4 years old but I was lifted out of the water by an unseen force. I was panicking at the bottom of the deep end of a massive pool, alone and unattended, and then felt a presence behind me and lift me from under my arms. But I was never pulled out of the water, I just felt someone grab me, and then in an instant I was sitting dry and alone on a lounge chair 20 feet away. Maybe I'll email you with more details!
