This video is for civil engineering students who are having a hard time understanding strength of materials.

Something is not right... You use the vertical shear force to calculate the horizontal shear stress? The horizontal shear stress is the result of the bending. Assume your 45 kN vertical load is split in two times 22.5 kN vertical loads, near to the supporting points. In that case your vertical shear force is still the same, but there is like no bending at all. Hence, no horizontal shear force or stress. According to you explanation the horizontal shear stress would still be the same. Doesn't make sense...
