I've got one. It is. It is so stable. It feels like a mini-DH bike. But it is also plenty nimble. Thing is just sick!
@Blooben7 жыл бұрын
How can you complain about the spec on the Wreckoning when you choose the X1 build rather than the X01 Eagle build to test, when the other two are the higher build? The top end builds for all three bikes are about the same price, so the Wreckoning in that build must be cheaper than the other two, but that wasn't mentioned. *Cue logical and unseen reasoning in response*.
@forrestchristian26167 жыл бұрын
TheOrangutank yeah! I noticed that too! Sort of disappointing.
@smalerider17277 жыл бұрын
Evil Wreckoning x01 build $5399(not tested eagle $6899), Trek 9.9 RSL $7999, Specialized Enduro $8500. Yeah seems legit.... Not establishment bias at all.
@d.l.9187 жыл бұрын
I think it's the manufacturer's decision which of his builds he provides to testers. But yeah, it'd be fair to note that the bike sells about 2/3rds the price of its contestants.
@MBRmagazine7 жыл бұрын
True, unfortunately this model wasn't available at the time. In the end, though, it didn't really matter because it still won the test!

@marksmith76477 жыл бұрын
The Evil the Wreckoning wins because it is the better bike out of the three. There's no point in keep whining and winging at MBR about geometry this and BB that. They rode all three bikes in a time period and came up with their conclusions. Its that simple! Anyways, I very much doubt that 95% of the people commenting even own one of the three bikes tested or will ever own one in the future. I own an Evil Wreckoning and i demo'd the Trek Slash 9.9. The Evil won in my opinion hence why i built one up.

I'm waiting till next year, because I got a feeling there will be a YT Capra then and that it is going to be a 29er... If not, the Wreckoning is high on my short list.
@marksmith76477 жыл бұрын
Can't see YT doing a 29er capra when they have the jeffsy. Think canyon and radon will do some big travel 29ers though....
@d.l.9187 жыл бұрын
According to reviews the Jeffsy 29 sits firmly in the "trail bike" category, it's not a mini enduro like maybe the Santa Cruz Hightower is. I don't think a 29er Capra would hurt Jeffsy sales. I mean they just released the Jeffsy 27 which clearly blurrs the lines between their lineup already, especially in it's 160mm version. YT have a "progressive" image, they're not the company to lack behind, especially when it comes to competetive racing. And I think a 29er enduro is a must if they want to be serious in that department. Heck, even29er downhill bikes are popping up everywhere now.
@marksmith76477 жыл бұрын
Due to recent events in DH i would have to agree with you about most major players in the industry working on 29er enduro and even full dh rigs now.

Nice comparison guys. Interestingly enough though, when I did a back to back comparison between the Specialized Enduro 29 and the new Norco Range 29, I felt I was riding super high on the Norco, but felt much more 'in the bike' on the Enduro. I didn't know the geo specs at the time, but I was assuming that the Enduro had a nice low bottom bracket, just going from the ride feel. Keep up the good work!
@martyhammond74207 жыл бұрын
I put 170mm cranks on my Enduro 29 and 27.5 wheels, never have felt it was too high. But I hate pedal strikes since they can be extremely hazardous to your health, I will take that extra clearance any day and get used to riding slightly higher over riding on my face downhill.

@maverick22427 жыл бұрын
So what I don't get in this test, is u have the top spec Enduro, the Top spec Slash and bottom spec that Evil offer X1, yet they offer a X01 Eagle spec which would address the negatives mentioned in this test, though not mentioned and would clearly compete on a gearing level with the other 2! Also why would u need a 2.5 in the rear, 2.3 for 29er is more than enough, run a DH casing if u need more protection or want to run lower pressure, I don't see the need for 2.5" in the rear, total overkill! I'm a fan of all 3 bikes myself. Otherwise a good test.

About that sworks enduro in the 29er verson. I have the elite model of enduro with 29er and my bb is even taller since its a 2016 model. Would dropping to 27.5 make a difference? Feels like im wheeling a lifted truck on the trail.

Ohlins fork is sluggish but stable. Don't understand. Not returning quick enough/packing up? Both slash and Evil have stupid seat angles. If you have long legs, weight will be way too far back.
@MBRmagazine7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the seat angles aren't ideal. We did say that the Enduro is the only bike with a good seated climbing position. Ohlins fork is overdamped for lighter riders. If you're over 90kg you'll probably be fine though.

Do you mean to say these bikes have the same amount of engineering and tech found in a modern motorcycle? Motorbikes have internal combustion and thousands more moving parts to justify their price. The materials used to develop and manufacture a bicycle don't even come close. These bikes are overpriced for artificial reasons, and not for realistic ones.

Could be, but typical for reviews. They would really be stumped if it was Yeti vs Transition vs Evil. I guess all three would win.
@d.l.9187 жыл бұрын
I thought the review was so-so anyways. 1. The Enduro has the same bb height as the Slash, so it's either a problem with both bikes or it isn't. 2. I am pretty sure the Bontrager bar just needs to be rotated to the front and the ends are not dipping down anymore. 3. First he says the Trek doesn't feel like it had less travel than the other two and a minute later he tells us that they needed volume spacers and increase pressure to keep it from bottoming out frequently. I know "bottoming out frequently" doesn't necessarily mean " too little travel" but they are not completely independent either.
