Guys. That was impressive! I've been sailing longer than the two of your years combined and although I've balanced the helm many times, I'm pretty sure I'd be no match for you at all doing this. BRAVO!

I have broken my rudder twice and both times we got back without it. Its really not that hard once you combine heel with trim to optimise speed which you need to in a race. The rudder should never be used to steer except on rare occasions. If your using it your slowing the boat down. Tacking with heel and weather helm is lightning fast and looses far less speed. Pushing a tack with rudder is a speed killer. Same with gybing. Great video.

Has to be decent wind use the main and pull to turn I did that in my dinghy it worked
@jamiewilling823911 жыл бұрын
Cheers I look forward to watching it. I sail a RS Feva XL through my local Sea Cadet unit in Tauranga (NZ) it will be interesting to see if it works..

Nice :D Sailing without rudder is always a good way to practice boathandling. Spin around a mark without tacking or jybing is also pretty nice, but i am not shure if it works with the 29er tho :/
@Dudman8312 жыл бұрын
How do they do that. That is heaps good
@iggymcnally3234 жыл бұрын
I wish I could sail my 29er at that level normally

What is up with that music? I mean background noise. Very distracting and takes away from the video trainer.
@radioboys89868 жыл бұрын
easy close hauled, lots lots harder on a run
@170221dn7 жыл бұрын
In this case easier on the run as the spinny brings the centre of effort forward to meet the centre of lateral resistance which was moved forward by removing the rudder blade.

Wtf he’s got a gennaker up he isn’t close hauled
