I installed a pragma adjustable bed in our van build and it uses 29v actuators that were powered by a 120v ac adapter but I modified the setup by installing a battery backup system that are made for home power recliners. This allows me to power the bed when the inverter is off but also gets recharged when we turn the inverter on for our ac power needs. I also purchased a dc to dc power adapter from Powerstream that boost 11-14v input up to 29v. Works great!

Okay. Mind officially blown. Cannot imagine how you juggle everything in your head without losing track, but you do. The designs are innovative, but more importantly, you never forget “ repairabilty”, and that makes all the difference in the world. I’m thrilled that you are expanding, but not at all surprised - quality and integrity of service will always draw clients. The remodel is even more impressive as you need to contend with “what you’ve got”, not a clean slate. Thank you for another wonderful video.

I have a similar bed design in mind using a 3 panel folding mattress. I need to design a bed slide to allow for lifting the rear panel & to slide the bed back to expose the dinette area. Don't know if I need a powered model but need the slide mounting explained further. Any additional help is appreciated. Did you work with someone who pre cut & drilled your framing?

Very true. Clever solution! Another solution they use in making car models is Gunnite /fiberglass mat molding. Make an arch with something bendable. Put a sheet of fiberglass mat for car repairs over it. Slap on some gunnite paste. Let dry. Sand smooth. Paint with a thick marine or bedliner paint.

Hi I'm here in Ireland watching on Valentine's day, a saint who has connections to ireland, and we have been working on an old 1998 ford Transit 2.5 turbo diesel van, lots of our friends also are building campers from old vans, but since Eamon and Bec have done such a great job of the Merc sprinter, there gone hard to get second hand, even the same platform VW Crafter And Man Diesel vans are hard to find, many are stolen and exported out of ireland, some to Africa, others to eastern Europe. George, I still think there's an opportunity for more storage in the dinette area. Raise the seats 6"- 8", (you don't need the height when sitting) run a step across (same width as the seats, same height as you raise them), then either add a drawer, or a lid for shallow/ wide items. Would make bed access easier, you may not need a ladder? If you still do, that's where you store it. Just a thought.

Love the adjustable bed. Have one at home and in my van. Like yours better with the slats for breathing. Would you share what brand it is? Idea for filling access panel gap. Purchase Exterior PVC White Trim from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Sculpt to fit with normal wood working tools. Seal in place with caulk. I’d use same type the recommend for roof vent spacers. May need 2 pieces of 1” stock to fill thickest portion if you can’t find adequate single thickness. Two pieces can be permanently bonded with PVC glue.

Hi George, Great tips for another enjoyable Sunday morning! Thank you! I also have a propane fridge I need to change at one point, so this was good timing. By the way, I know you like Isotherm fridges, but do look into Nova Kool made in Canada. Winnebago is using them in their new Ekko Class C RVs and they are $800 cheaper than Isotherm for the 6-7 cubic foot models. Isotherm also does not come in as many configurations to fit awkward spaces in RV. And… they are NOT made in China. 😊 I have a paint problem to solve and putting out my problem to invite comments from you and others. I want to paint my RV in a truck bedliner paint, using a mohair roller brush. I’ve seen it done on KZbin, and no need to spray, can be done outside not clean room, and can be done section by section DIY, with excellent results. This would be useful to you to paint up panels like the ‘backerboard wood piece’ and the heater plastic venting panel to make both look like powder coated panels. Lee Blake used bedliner in his Nissan van cabinets which looks factory finished. I was looking at Durabak Bed Liner Paint. This is a ‘moisture-cured Polyurethane’. On moist days it cures faster. Its very durable, weather resistant, has a matte finish not gloss, and end result looks like powder coated porcelain finish. FYI - Durabak is a South African company. Constraints are: 1. Shelf life unopened is 1 yr. Shelf life opened can is 2-3 hrs. 2. Working time is 2-3 hrs before the can hardens up. 3. Solvent is Xylene - which is banned in CA. Paint thinner does not clean your brushes or dilute it. Durabak made Solvide, an alternative, which is $30/ qt + $15 Hazmat shipping. Only available from them. 4. Bedliner paint comes direct from Durabak factory in SA, in pre-tinted basic colors or clear due to short shelf life. Hazmat fees for shipping from East Coast. 5. Paint or solvent cannot be bought in box stores, or locally, but from Durabak warehouse only. Tinting - Durabak offers a very limited primary color range that appeals to lumberjacks. City slickers like me want more shades. City Slicker + Artistic Type + Female = VCP or Very Choosy Person. I want a pearly off-white (mica chips with a hint of pink/ yellow). The whole huge RV should be a soft pearlescent white that does not create glare, keeps cool in heat, and does not look sterile. This is also a good resale color and will make my trusty plain Class C look sufficiently moneyed to be allowed into ritzy campgrounds while making it sufficiently bland not to be singled out. Cops and residents don’t bother you either if you look like rich retiree spending your kid’s inheritance. I want a bigger color palette to work with for this van and other projects, like garden furniture. 6. Durabak said I need a ‘non water-based paste pigment for moisture-cured Polyurethane’. Maybe automotive paint shops may have it, but I sure cannot find this type of pigment. If I do find it, I will have a very short time to mix with an open can sufficiently well, and use up the whole can before it hardens. Any thoughts anyone? 1. Are there other bed liner paints that have a longer working time, and more tints? 2. Is there a Xylene type solvent alternative to the proprietary Solvide? 3. Where can I buy Xylene? (I also need Dichlormethane or Methylene Chloride if anyone knows - for furniture stripping). 4. Where can I buy these non-water-based paste pigments? 5. What other paint alternatives do I have instead of bedliner paint that can be applied with a roller brush, is thick enough to hide uneven surface? 6. What other forms of Polyurethane paints are there that I could tint and use for RV exterior? Thanks Y'all! 😊

Yes, I will be demonstrating all you ask in the future. If you watch my "8020 like a rock star" video, I show and explain how we mount our panels to the galley. I use both the 10 series and the 15 series, depending on weight bearing load.

Just a thought, what about hinges that keep the "water tank pul out panel" in place but permitting easy access to the tank? And in place of costly magnets, would 3m Dual-Lock be adequate?

I'd be thinking about delamination for those internal clamping plates. I would 3D print in ASA and use captive nuts instead

That water heater (8:00) is as big as my household tankless instant-hot water heater. There is nothing smaller for marine/RV applications?

Love your channel and your outlook. Casey Roman mentions you in her latest video. She said you told her that the only reason to buy a 5th wheel is if you only want to move it 3 times. She said she yelling at you about that opinion and then she bought a 5th wheel and only moved it 3 times because it was too unruly to move. She then questioned if you were still around. You were kind to talk to her and brilliant in you assessment. Do you do advising on vans for pay? I am looking for someone who knows what they are doing and I have watched enough of you to see that you are one of the best to consult. Anyway either way I love your videos.

Yes! Casey and I went back and forth via email and phone discussing her next rig. She was looking at Class B+ coaches ONLY, because she HATED Class C, and then in a quick about-face, she went fifth wheel! I told her, "honestly, I think I'm being tested for something, how did fifth wheel enter the equation!?!?! You will NOT be happy! No matter! I was glad to offer my assistance. Her writing and travel videos were/are amazing! She is such a natural talent. Oh how she makes me laugh!

@@HumbleRoad Do you advise on vans? I bought one already built out (the build out is not perfect but I got a great deal on it). I would like to make some changes particularly add solar and change out the batteries to lithium. Do you advise on things like that for a fee.

I'm sorry, Katie, I don't advise. Best I can offer is to watch my videos! Lots of info there. And the commenters are a great resource as well.

Thank you George! Always good to learn more on Sunday morning. A few questions. 1) Is that 10 or 15 gauge 80/20 you used in the galley or both? 2) What kind of hot water /heating system is that? I am looking hard at Rixen at the moment. 3) Why did you go with that older heavier Xantrex inverter instead of the lighter one you used in your van? Thanks again for all your help!

Galley is all 10 series. The Isotemp water heater is a Webasto product, widely used in the yachting world. The Xantrex SW3012 inverter charger is a time tested proven workhorse where heavy constant usage is expected. The XC Pro 3000 is a modern, more nimble inverter better suited to an experienced van dweller who understands power management. In terms of features, they are identical. In the Pleasure-Way, the XC Pro was the better choice.
