I used Blud Devil gasket sealer last year on our 2006 Honda Accord LX. I was trying to figure out why anifreeze was spewing from underneath the reservoir cap all onto the engine. Changed the cap, changed the reservoir, changed the little reservoir hose...still the same thing. Researched and read it was head gasket going. Oh hell no I wasn’t paying $1,200 plus for that. Came across this at NAPA and said, “ What have I got to lose except $40?” Followed the instructions to the tee including removing the thermostat. By the following day after doing the flushing and runs, the problem was solved. Kept checking it everyday as my son drove to college/home 80 plus miles round trip each day and still, no problem. And then...my son wrecked the damn car 5 months later totaling it (he was fine). But at least I wasn’t out $1200 plus on this repair!!! This stuff seriously works..but like the man says, follow the instructions as they state on the bottle label. I’m a Blue Devil believer!! Good video!!

I have the same issue with my 2004 civic. Coolant will blow out of the overflow cap when driving. It's been doing this awhile so I just add coolant before I leave. Hopefully this will work!

It will work but you have to follow the instructions to the tee. Tedious but a small price to pay rather than a $1500+ repair. I had failed to respond to prior comment from Nathaniel P, it never did it again. 5 months later driving 80 miles+ round trip daily, repair still held. Ive since used stop oil leak on my tahoe and rear main differential, stopped that oil leak. All Blue Devil products work great! I’m a believer!!!!

@@melissamcgee833 just make sure its not your radiator cap; rubber underneath wears out with time. Rule them out. No harm in replacing the cap. Process of elimination. Monitor each daily to rule them out.if it still continues for a couple of days then use the Blue Devil head gasket repair.. Good luck!!

Used to assist in an automotive machine shop. If you're replacing a head gasket you SHOULD have that head REBUILT at the same time! Why? Because many times a blown head gasket is the rebuilt of a WARPED HEAD. That head should be checked for warpage and whether or not it can be SHAVED (machined flat). At the same time, you will have the valves, valve guides, springs, and valve oil seals checked/replaced as necessary.

Thanks... I don't think a liquid can help.. maybe delay the inevitable ... My valve cover gasket was leaking last year.. had it replaced ..with some white smoke recently.. I thought I was having a an issue with my charcoal canister after it threw a code.. ! Now my thermostat is acting really weird.. so I'm suspecting it's the gaskets.! V6 and it's over 200k miles... Thanks for the demo and the testimonial. I have a very small leak. I had an intake gasket leak that I've already corrected, discovered there's also a very small external leak behind the head. The leak is so small, I don't even have drips on the ground beneath the truck...... Just see signs of it when looking up from below the truck. It's probably best to do it now since I've already flushed the coolant multiple times, especially the heater core. I think you just gave me the motivation to go ahead and get this done so I can get some coolant back in and call this nightmare done-did. Mine's an 88 S10.

A tip I found online and used that worked well - maybe put in a lower temp/pressure thermostat to reduce likelihood of blowing out the sealant. I ran a bottle of Blue Devil (the standard version, not the quick one) through an high mileage '87 Ranger (v6) with a severely blown head gasket. Still had a bit of a leak, so I flushed it again and ran another 1/2 bottle through it. Drove the truck daily for the next 3 years with no leak, probably 25000 miles. It was still running when I scrapped it. (I had bought the truck from a friend who was going to scrap it - I was moving to a new apartment that week, and figured it could just barely make it the 1.5 mile drive before, and save me the cost of renting a U-haul. The Ranger would blow through / boil out almost the entire coolant system after 5 minutes of driving, needing a refill. Worked out better than expected, and I was only out the cost of 2 bottles and the time to flush it! From friends who've used it, sounds like getting it flushed really well (as directions dictate) makes the biggest difference in whether it will work or not. I personally think the lower temp thermostat helped too.

A lot of people always leave out a bunch of others too. When doing this be sure to read the directions on the capacity for your radiator. The yellow label is usually for V8 models depends on your radiator capacity like I said. I only used half a container for my 4 cylinder. But I’ve also done both products and the pour n go still leaves behind white residue on your thermostat and I would advise people to drain and fill on the pour n go as well. Maybe let the vehicle cure for a good day. And pour in new coolant on the pour n go along with replacing the thermostat. This yellow one the same method drain the coolant inside it and replace new coolant. Oh also when you pour in the blue devil don’t just put the cap back on. But, be sure to top off your radiator with water until full so you don’t have air in the system and last put on your radiator cap....boom you’ll be set and let idle.

I had a few bubbles in expansion tank (that in itself can be minor) .....had major bubbling months ago dealer got it to a garage quickly and it had a therm. And coolant sensor (giving wring readings apparently and therm was opening very slowly ) . I not long changed oil . Oil seemed smooth no debris no residue (milky or anything else) New oil filter new oil the mechanics had a bit much in 9verfkiw so took some out a while ago to leave it at max . The only thing I had dine recently was clean egr valve which has a coolant spout either side . I did of course run engine fir some time with cap off (I done my therm housing gasket on last car so I know this ) I've had idling issues throughout and when that happens it has a deep note as if I have a beefy exhaust .and recently done the test where it changrd to green or yellow from blue over rad or exp cap . It went yellow it smells funny as some say fume like . And discoloured ..any thoughts? Thanks I'm going to a garage Monday to get a 2nd opinion

At this point, and at my last service and check up, my mechanic said my truck is running well and the oil is normal. I have to say that I use gasoline detergent every other fill up, too, which has increased my mileage, but I also think helps keep the engine sealant in good shape. Am I wrong?

If that is a code r 350 (5.7) engine , And the engine has a lot of miles and the engine has never had any major engine repairs . I would for sure replace the broken plastic intake gaskets , Biggest source of coolant leaking into the engine oil is the broken plastic intake gaskets around the water outlets of the cylinder heads. After that repair is done ,and you still have issue ( you overheated the engine ) then you should try Blue devil . Speaking from A GM tech who has done these repairs a lot . depending on how bad the condition Blue devil may work

@@rajendramodusu5980 As it say on the bottle of Blue devil , it's for the coolant system .It helps seal head gasket leakage ,wear as coolant is leaking into the cylinder. Don't think it was designed to stop other types of leaks like external ones . You may have other problem with this engine .And if your axle seals are leaking ,then don't be cheap ,replace them . And over heating only shows up when coolant level become a issue . Lucas products are used to help stop some leakages from p/s trans /diff .Helps swell seals . But it's not a fix all in a can. I have a 2000 Grand am GT with 230k miles. It had sat for a 5 or 6 years and when it went back into service, a cracked radiator was discovered and repaired after a large puddle of coolant was discovered. it developed a slight rhythmic rev while idling a few days before that. After light use, one day it's temp spiked to redline. It's operating temp is 218. The thermostat was then replaced. Now it's losing fluid and Ive discovered liquid on the block directly below the head on the drivers side. There is no coolant in the oil and no moisture in the exhaust... only on the block. Will this product possibly work for this specific condition? I only ask because it seems like all the examples ive seen show internal leaks, fluid into cylinder, or fluid into oil.... My case is a fluid breach into external atmosphere.

Oil contamination with coolant is generally a leaking oil cooler core in the radiator or a failed intake gasket in those 4.3l Vortec engines. Blown head gaskets are rare on them and compression leaks into the coolant are usually cracked heads.

For anyone wondering, this method is more of a "bandaid" rather than a fix. Blue devil is hit or miss. I've seen it last the life of a car, however there are cases where it might only last a few years. Definitely cheaper then actually replacing the gasket, just understand it's not always a permanent "fix" and it's not the proper way to "fix" the issue.

I would have to top it off every time i look at the overflow tank and siphon it back from the overflow to radiator. I replaced Thermostat, Hoses, Radiator and Radiator cap.... But still the coolant doesn't stay in the radiator. I'm getting one of those blue head gasket tester kits and will see, if all else fails i'll try this. Got an 88 Ford f350 7.3 naturally aspirated diesel. Have a coolant leak externally only in the front passenger side right under the exhaust manifold. Pretty sure it's a head gasket leaking externally only. No symptoms of coolant getting into the combustion chamber or oil. I'm a little concerned that the blue devil might not work here because it isn't hot enough to get it to harden up. It only leaks if I leave the radiator cap on and the system pressurizes. If I leave the cap off it doesn't leak at all. As rarely as this truck gets run I'm considering just letting the truck operate this way. Any suggestions on a product that would be better suited for an external coolant leak?

I have an old Toyota 2LT engine built anew. All items are new and high quality. Most Japanese, only pistons are Taiwan. The cylinder block is bored out, and new high carbon steel, quality cylinders are inserted. Cylinder block gasket metal TAKOMA. But on the gasket was smeared SHELLAC, and possibly of poor quality. Engine - diesel. At high speeds/tork , it gradually squeezes out antifreeze. Also, with the thermostat removed, it squeezes out 1.5 liters for 80 km. At low speeds, the pressure is less, the inflation of the cooling system is less. The compression was checked by inflating the air pressure into the holes of the glow plugs. There is a slip between the three cylinders. The big problem is that from the 3rd cylinder there is a breakdown into the crankcase and there is a weak but smoke from the crankcase durig the oil dipstick. The question is - Can a punctured, poorly-fitted gasket leak exhaust gas into the oil system like into the cooling system? And is it worth it to apply sealants or change the gasket? Should I use metal or paranitic? On a metal smear SHELLAC or is it not worth doing? Thanks in advance for any advice. And thanks for the interesting videos.

1st thing to do if water is in the oil Change the oil with "USED" motor oil.. With the price of oil and you know its leaking water there is no sense of spending/ wasting $35.⁰⁰. After using the sealant and it appears to have worked you can then replace the oil with fresh clean NEW motor oil.. if that makes sense to you then save yourself some money..

I pulled my thermostat as suggested, huge mistake. Both the bolts were super rusted and snapped off, had to drill and tap. Water pump and intake are done. And the reason they were rusted, previous owner never flushed system once and only ran water, because "it's a California car". Radiator fluid, or coolant, is important. It has a lower freezing point, but also a higher boiling point AND corrosion inhibitors. This video and the 1st video are super helpful and well done, but please don't suggest coolant isn't important. People are dumb, they will just run water and turn a v8 into a boat anchor.

Hello everybody! My 2003 civic always makes a 2-second air hissing/sucking sound when I shut the engine off. In addition to that, the coolant always fills the reservoir up and doesn't seem to go back to the radiator. If I don't fill the coolant in the radiator up after a long ride or a few short rides, I'll get overheating. Someone told me that there's a leak from the coolant passage through the gasket to the outside. I don't see it mentioned in this video so I'm not sure if it's a thing. And if it's truly is, does anyone know a way to fix it? Does head gasket sealer help in this case? Thanks!

Great video. Question: I have a bmw 528i and there is no radiator cap. Only the reservoir cap. I’ve seen other videos saying NOT to put this is the reservoir but ONLY in the radiator. How is the best way to proceed on this type of radiator situation? I don’t have fluid going into the oil. So no chocolate milk situation, but is coming out of the exhaust and no misfiring yet in the cylinder. But that is probably coming down the road. Please advise...
