As a cellist I actually love that Maisky (and Sollima) didn't feel too elite to collaborate with such untraditional musicians - this warms my soul!

+Alex Grace Lindsay-Black If you check bios for Stjepan and Luka you will see they are classically trained with Masters degrees from London and Manchester. They play with i soloisti di Zagreb, and symphonies all around the world. Bach or rock they're wonderful!

Mmh but I just mean that Stjepan and Luka also go beyond the realms of classical music and it's lovely to see this collaboration between musicians who embrace different styles (I'm well aware that '2CELLOS' are classically trained, as I've often listened to Stjepan's interpretation of a piece I'm learning). I'm just in awe of each level of mastery in a different way and really enjoy this partnership. Hope this clears things up!
@dominoplay37128 жыл бұрын
they are not just classicaly trained, they went to best schools and won the best prizes. what i mean, they are equal as any famous soloists on cello out there, that's how good they play. they just choose a different style.

Maestro Maisky? Why do you dabble in such unorthodox riffraff?
@karenfoster95947 жыл бұрын
Maestro Maisky would probably tell you (and several others commenting here) to take your heads out of your backsides long enough to see that they are actually paying respect to 2Cellos by joining them onstage to jam with them, whilst having an absolute ball at the same time. They are enjoying every moment of it.
@YayBenSpeck9 жыл бұрын
Maiksy could outplay any of those guys.
@erik53749 жыл бұрын
Well, maisky might outplay the 2cello-guys, but Giovanni Sollima is also on that stage. Sollima is a very good cellist and one of the best contemporary composers for cello. Did it ever ocur to you that Maisky and Sollima really want to play this gig (it's a celebration, the final eventing of a week full of any kind of cello-music) ? They both look like they're having fun, and so are the other musicians. Cellists are less narrowminded than many other classical musicians.

This was in 2014. During that evening there must have been at least 30 good cellists on that stage. I visited the final evening of the Cello Biënnale last year (which is announced at 29 oct 2016 in this video) and i can tell you: The majority of the audience are cellists as well. Mind that, when you hear the applause in the end. This is not about excellence, this is about enjoying to play that instrument.

VERGOGNA!!!!!!!!!!! Poi parliamo di cultura??? Noi musicisti siamo proprio alla frutta!!!!!! La musica classica non ha più futuro!!! DEMORALIZZANTE!!!!!!!!!!!........... Mischa Maisky......perchè così in basso!!!

No!!!!

@eternity9759 жыл бұрын

***** I can agree that this is mediocre music, total crap, but all of them are excelent cellists. And actually this kind of video will probably attract more kids into learning cello. It's not all that bad. But i would like to see these four playing some real music together

Easton Hubbard As a longtime classical music lover, I find this piece ever so much better and more enjoyable than a large part of the "classical" music composed in the 20th century.
@75Chopin8 жыл бұрын
Yah, I agree the music is terrible. It can be modern but this is rather tasteless crap. But then it still sounds a bit better than the usual crap the 2 Cellos do. I guess the other 2 more prof cellists helped out a little bit. But I can believe Maisky and Sollima, (a baroque cellist!) will bother to participate in this! Yo Yo Ma's silk road stuff sounds much better compared with this crap, which sounds more like cheap party music, though I have to say Sollima's opening was pretty cool, maybe the best part. They should have done some Elliot Carter or Pierre boulez, which would be much cooler, or at least Piazzolla.
@marioroveda54816 жыл бұрын
75Chopin 75Chopin Sorry, i have to disagree regarding the fact Sollima is only a baroque cellist: he certainly is a wonderful baroque player but his culture is so big and wide to reach also modern music, he surely doesn't stop to baroque. I also think is a pretty narrow thought saying that this music is absolute crap when in the video you see 4 cellists having fun while playing, and fun is one of the best thing in music like this.
