2CV Charleston - driving

I used to push only with thumb into 2nd, and pull to 3rd just with index finger. I love to feel the synchros working. And enjoyed shifting from 3rd to 2nd with double clutching with accelerator. Not necessary but so smoooth! :-) Good memories...

The third gear is te one I used the most in the 2cv, especially on country roads 😃

I confirm that 1St is not syncrhonized. I own a 1984 2CV, my 2 friends have a 1987 and a 1988, and My brother owns a Dyane 6. Same gearbox. Shifting from 2nd to 1st is not recommanded unless you double clutch. And yes, shifting from 3rd to 2nd with double clutching and some accelerator is a very good technique.

That is not how to properly partially open a 2CV roof. You have to hold the bar in the middle and use that in the fold. That way the roof is more flat and you are able to secure it with the popper at the bar behind your head.

I thought 1st was unsynchronized and therefore required double clutching. Was it just mine?

You can only put it in 1st gear when you are stationary. So no need to double clutch.

I never double clutched mine. But that was so long ago. The 2CV was a 1959.
